    Anyone hungry?

What worked for me is I would make 16 oz. of Protein shake and drink it throughout the day, especially when I was most hungry, I would take a big drink or two and have a glass a Water and my hunger would go away. I lost a lot of weight the first week, then on the second (pureed period) I gained a few pounds but now I am losing again. Good luck.

    What about Caffine?

I went 2 weeks without my coffee in the morning post-op, I am now drinking it again, 1 cup in the morning, its a big one though. I am regular again, no more miralax needed. I am going to wait 4 weeks before I have some wine, but that is another story.
  3. LOL, I was just channel surfing and I came across a movie called Bandidos, so I looked it up. It is spelled with a D instead of a T.

    Incisions

What are you putting on your incisions? Just checking I was told not to put anything, but wouldnt applying antibiotic cream help with scarring?

    Where is your port??

I asked on my first post op visit, I was told it was right under my incision, she pushed down on it and found it.

    Where is your port??

Mine is to the right a little, between my belly button and my right nipple. If you draw a line between BB and nipple it is 1/3 to BB and 2/3 to nipple.
  7. Spaghetti with garlic Bread (Oh I'm going to miss bread) Chinese food Beer and peanuts pizza (Can. Bacon, tomato, mushroom, and onion) Hamburgers (big ones anyway) Fries, tater tots God I'm getting hungry.....Let me get my chix broth. Holy Smokes John!!! you have lost 50 lbs.? Way to go. Ive lost 20 lbs. on my first week, I have been having only Chix and Beef broth, crystal light, SF Fruit ice pops, body fortress Protein Shakes (great tasting from walmart), and Water. I am excited about moving on, especially creamy soups, that sounds good. I didn't know I could have V8's I love them.

    May 7th Surgery Stories

I went in at 5:30 am scheduled to be operated at 7:30 am, all was going well till my blood sugar shot through the roof, I thought I was toast and it would be cancelled, but a few insulin shots and I was ready. They rolled me back and I was getting high after a shot, then I was gone. Woke up from my procedure and was in some pain, especially my left shoulder. My operation included treating a Hiatal Hernia. My Surgeon said she had to put some mesh around it along with the band, she said the band would hold up better. I'm feeling alright, taking Hydrocodone which really helps with the pain. The hunger pains are the worst but getting through it. I have lost 15 lbs (not a typo, sure it is mostly Water weight), I am taking my liquid diet very serious. Consists of water, chix and beef broth, Protein shakes, SF fruit bars, and crystal light. I do have a question, I bought whey Protein powder and I noticed it has Creatine, is this bad?

    just talking

Pain for me was not that bad, the day of surgery I was on Morphine. I was banded at 8am, by midnight I wanted to switch to my prescribed medication because I was being released later the next day. My doctor prescribed me Hydrocodone in liquid form, and it has worked for me very well. Good luck.

    California Mayo Banditos?

Hello everyone, just got back home from my procedure, which included treating a Hiatal Hernia. My Surgeon said she had to put some mesh (?) around it along with the band, she said the band would up holding better. I'm feeling alright, taking Hydrocodone which really helps with the pain. The hunger pains are the worst but getting through it.
  12. I finally got the call, the insurance approved my surgery and my surgery is set for May 7th. I am so happy, there was no way I was going to change that date, I have been waiting a long time for this. Unfortunatly one of my closest friends is having a wedding on May 8th. My surgery is outpatient and will be the first one of the day 7:30 am Thursday, is it possible to go to the wedding Friday evening? I plan on just attending the ceremony only. I am 42, pretty athletic and strong, I can handle pain very well. Thanks in advance on any advice, I will of course know on Friday if I could go, just trying so find out what you felt like about 36 hours later.

    California Mayo Banditos?

Hello, I am having surgery on May 7th, with Dr. Machado in Sacramento. Im a bit nervous, but very excited at the same time. Glad to be part of a group, we can keep in touch and give each other advice.
  14. Hello all, I just got the call. I will be scheduled for May 7th, my pre-op is this friday April 24th. I am getting nervous. :crying:
  15. I wish my first post would have been introducing myself and maybe asking a question or two, but no I panicked because I was told I had to get an evaluation done on me. I am talking a mental evaluation before they submit to my insurance. So I apologize for that, thanks for the 2 responses though. My name is Ray (well not really, but close) I am 42, I have a BMI of 40+ and I am going to do this, I have made up my mind. I have hypertension and type II diabetes. Ever since turning 40 I think of death a lot. It has to be my lifestyle, I drink and eat a lot. I go on and off diets for the last 20 years (I was voted most likely to be on a diet over and over again at my technical school). I have to admit I am getting a little nervous but I have to do this to take care of my family, I have 4 kids and my lovely wife of almost 20 years. I am looking forward to getting one of those tickers that keeps track of my progress, and updating pics as much as I can. I have read a lot on these forums so I don't really have questions yet, but I did want to introduce my self in case I do have to ask something when the date gets closer. Right now I am just waiting to hear from my insurance. One thing, when I had that evaluation the psychiatrist asked me If I would commit suicide by doing this, I told her "I am doing this to live, I am doing this to to see my son and daughters start a family, I am doing this to see my grandchildren." She then approved me. Talk to you soon.
  16. This is a repost in California forums, Sorry: Hi, my name is Ray and I am in the process of getting banded. I have had my first meeting with my Surgeon (Machado), did the blood work, xrays, and met with a nutritionist today. I have to get an evaluation and have no idea where to find one, they provide one at the Machado's office but doesnt go through insurance. If anyone knows where I can go in Sacramento, please let me know. I have BC/BS. Thank you, RG
