    Feeling The Port

    Mine sticks out, and also rubs against my ribs when i bend over and move in certain ways. I have to stick a pillow under my side when I sleep so it doesn't push against my ribs as much. It only started to bother me when I dropped my body fat under 21%. That's more annoying than having it show. It's very visible, but you can get the port relocated deeper, under the muscle ... But I'm not interested in undergoing surgery for that

    You can't spot reduce. Cardio will help decrease your body fat, which is what you're seeing CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO!
  3. hey there! you were asking me about my weight loss.

    i haven't had the lap band procedure done yet - my photos are from 3 years ago, when i lost weight on my own through diet and exercise. I've been struggling with a horrible eating disorder for the past 5 years, and i'm tired of the yo-yo'ing, and putting my body through the ups and downs of gaining/losing/gaining/losing.

    I'm heading to mexico the 2nd week in March to get banded by Dr Ortiz .. :)

    Fat loss vs weight loss

    Underwater weighing is considered the "gold standard" in body fat measurement. The accuracy of other methods is determined by comparing them to underwater weighing. But BIA and skinfold measurements have a standard error of about 3%.

    Calculate the INTEREST you'll be paying, and see if 19k seems high - i can almost GUARANTEE you'll be paying that amount, when you've finished paying it off. Why anyone would want to be in debt for something like this - start exercising, and journaling what you eat.

    Calories in, vs calories out. If you take in more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. It's very simple. I would be interested in seeing someone's eating habits/diet ratios if they didnt' lose weight while working out, and eating properly.

    What is your current diet like? Let's have a peek ... And how long and what have you been doing for exercise?
  12. Just keep in mind that EAS Myoplex is abnormally high in sugar and sodium for the amount of Protein you get. It's also a milk based protein, which is often hard to absorb, and not recommend for fat loss. It's also loaded with canola oil. This is not a good fat. I would stay away from the 'pre-made' drinks for obvious reasons. Stick with whey isolates, hydrolislates, micellular caseins, egg white Proteins (not as blends but as individuals) Quick Recipe: 250Ml Whole Milk 2 Table Spoons Natural Peanut Butter 2 Scoops ON Whey (Flavor of your choice) Total Calories: ~620 Total Protein: ~55

    I haven't even HAD the lap band procedure done yet!

    I originally lost over 70lbs on my own, through diet and exercise. Unfortunately, my eating habits have slipped over the past year, and my history with eating disorders has taken a toll on my body ... and I believe the lapband will help me regain that control I've always felt I didn't have.

    I have my surgery schedule for the end of February, as I've been waiting for one of my real estate options to sell - I don't want to rack up debt for this :)

     

    But please, don't lose hope.

    I just joined this forum, thinking it would be full of hidden information -- but it's proven the opposite!

    I'm shocked at the lack of knowledge on general nutrition, and fitness ... most Lap Band people in here don't exercise!!! BOO!

    Prior to 2008

    I'm embarassed to say that in 2008, I stopped working out, and stopped watching what I ate. Over this past year, I have gained a whopping 50lbs. My goal, to re-gain my original fitness level, and regain control in my diet.

    low carb vs. weight watchers

    again, anything can work if you're CONSISTENT. I'm SHOCKED at the number of posts in this community, looking for quick fixes.

    any program can be successful with CONSTANCY.
  22. Optimum Nutrition. But I think you need to change your mindset - you'll soon be eating for ENERGY, NOT for pleasure .. it's not about the taste, it's about the quality of nutrients you'll be taking in.
