It sucks and I deal with it daily but I have lived with it for 17 months I however have lost 190lbs and well love the results. I will be doing the dance again in the morning amen to the band and all the drums. I am however tired of the Pbing. It does suck. -

WTF?!?!?!?! Really!?!?!?!
scottyd replied to mom2girls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes with the Feedback given here are we helping are hurting the situation. It is true what works for one dose not work for others but on the other hand really why raise the neg questions or thoughts when it is not necessary. Sometimes in the feedback I see people searching for fault or finding fault in any answer given. This helps no one. I for one single no one out but feel all of us as a whole can help each other in a positive way. The band is a tool, I love it and I will help anyone the best I can. I have had mine 15 months and still going strong. I just got a .5 cc today and I to am a bit to tight. My Dr does not use the Flore thing I wish he did that would be awesome but well that is with way it is here. Sometimes a little is just a tad too much. Scotty D -
I made the news good or bad I made the news. I worked the band for most part in a positive way. it has had it's ups and downs. I did have my problems as many have read on here. But with your support. I continue to lose in all my days. Here is the news story link Leaving Facebook... | Facebook

scottyd replied to scottyd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in to my Dr today, got a fill and oh my. Really! I am feeling it today. No complaints just I have not had this much restriction for 2.5 months and I like it but hello again. and the brakes are on. I got away with a lot of things for awhile and that all came to a halt today. Thanks Dr Haley. I say this in a good way. Some one needs to hold me accountable. The fat man in just got thrown to the ground. Scotty D -
I take topamax daily my Dr put me on it for the side effects over 2 years ago now I am at a high level times a day and it is really not doing anything anymore but costing me money. But I know you just can not quit this durg cold.

Don't underestimate...

This is why I just read anymore. It is just a lot of confusion of my dr. said your dr. said and I believe this or that. But I agree with you Ohm and Really I am one on a peaceful journey. We will all make it some faster and some slower. The saying goes we are what we eat is really true. Some days I am an OREO. (this is be funny) I like to help. I have found tunnel vision is our worst enemy. When I say our I say it in a wide wide frame of mind and not pointed in any direction. I want everyone to reach there goals. Get what they want out of there search to be thin or what they feel is thin or acceptable for them. I for one am no expert and never claimed to be one. I am a FAT man. Oh yes I am. I have lived it all my life. I taken the horse crap comments from the peanut gallery for 40+ years. The skinny bitches and six packed male friends of mine, till you leave the party or turn your back. Comments hurtful unneeded crap. I only come to this as even in this thread there are unneeded comments among what I see as our own kind. Obese, over weight, FAT yes take it we have heard to from our own Doctor. Unneeded comments. So are we helping or hurting each other? I think we all have feelings. Why do we attack each other with the keyboard. It is really not needed I think we are all here for the greater good. Helping each other. ohm I think your wonderful. Scotty d -

Hey I made the news lap band
scottyd replied to scottyd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes that is true, But the big thing is BBQ is a big item for me that gets stuck for me almost all of it. So it was really easy to not eat it. Hard as it was and is really tempting but hurtful all the same. As it was a real pain. I love BBQ but it hurts. When we did the filming I was going to wear a BBQ shirt and it was a no go. go figure. scottyd replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the running nose, the little hicup birp thing sometimes. The feeling do I really need more when I am pushing limits. I use a small plate when I sit down to eat also so the plate looks full. -
my band is slipped, will it ever be ok again
scottyd replied to vicki's band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do know that they like the band to calm down. before they do surgery, I had my band drained for 2 weeks before they discovered the slip so I went right into surgery. Your doc is just doing what is best for you. I am sure you can get liquids down now. Correct? take it easy as it will get better. Some will say it is good / so will say oh hell no. I am with the band an always will be. I love it. So I have a few problems. Well I did some stupid stuff too. I drank some Pop. ate some foods I should not have ate. I did get the flu. I am human and not perfect and will never claim to be. I am well versed in what I should and should not do with the band. I do know right from wrong. -
my band is slipped, will it ever be ok again
scottyd replied to vicki's band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been through this. I have traveled this road in the last 2 months. I had a revision surgery. My band slip as found jan 6 and I went into surgery 2 hours later. I however had fluid all taken out of my band dec 26th as my stomach swelled and closed off and I could not even get water down. I vomited 3 days so bad. I don't need to go in to this. I was stuck in a blizzard here in South Dakota. So I could not get to the Dr. all this was part of the crap deal of my band slip. I however did have a surgery to fix it. The band was removed and replaced the same time. It all fall under the same rules as the first band surgery. it is like doing it from square one. liquids soft foods chew ya ya ya. trying to get the sweet spot back is a mess. I was running perfect before the bump in the road. I am a positive person and all things happen for a reason. the good thing is my stomach is in good shape, liver looks great. No signs of erosion. all positive. So I fall in the 2 to 5% of the cases that have issues. Big deal someone has to be one of the few to fall below the line. You know to hold the system accountable. So here we are. I know your angry. well maybe. look at the bright side. your loosing weight. getting healthy. It could be worse. You might say Really? yes it could. -
as to your question on slips I had no pain for the slip. I did have weird things going on 2 weeks before when I had swelling and the band closed off the stomach and i could not eat or drink anything. all I did was vomit. as to the band slip. No pain. Went in for a check up and fill. Dr. did a barrium swallow test that showed a band slip. so 2 hours later I was in surgery. weird.

What else have you lost?
scottyd replied to riley4183's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost so much along with the weight. Most all what you have lost. Along with my job of 11 years due to the haters. No big deal to much stress anyway. caused 2 heart attacks along with the weight. I have lost so much it list in reality. What I have gained is a Back bone!! I found myself, I do however miss my friends that used me. I however must look past that although it is hard to look past that as I felt needed by them as I was codependent on my job and friends. I however have found I am my own man able to stand on my own. Not needing that job. I own my own business. I have some old and new friends. I don't allow my self to be used. Well to a point still working on this. I will not give in to low self image. I am worth it. I am still a person, we all are worth it. Society sucks, the haters in the world got a new thing coming. I am the one smiling now. I have not turned my back on my (obese)I hate that word) friends and just people in general. I for one still look in the mirror everyday and still see a (fat)man it's something I struggle with everyday. Ya see. I will not loose it, it will always be with me, so how can I turn on my kind, I only say this as, I was having lunch with a friend of mine and he said look at that FAT guy he reminds me of you awhile back. I said don't you think that he has any feelings? You know he did hear you don't you. He said so! I said you suck> After we were finished we got up he left. I went over and visited with this guy. he also is a person I know somewhat not a friend but I know him. He did here him. Skinny people that have been skinny all there lives have no idea what it is like to battle the FAT BEAST with in me. Sometimes I just want to scream. Oh yeah this man is looking into the band or other wls options. What have I lost. 185lbs in 14 months I am off 13 medications What have I gained. EVERYTHING INCLUDING LIFE'S SECOND CHANCE. MOST NEVER GET ONE USE IT WISELY. -
I have had the band 14 Months, I have lost 185+lbs I have had 2 surgeries as I did have a band slip. That is a whole story in it self. I am good, I love the band, would I do it again? oh yes I say go with it for all reason's. But most of all do it for yourself. All people try to trip you up. Even if they don't think they are. No thanks I don't need seconds and I don't have to clean my plate. I don't care who is starving and where they are at. Although everyone is always welcome to come to my house for super. I never turn anyone away. If your hungry I will feed you. Just not off my plate. I do have a plate for you. Hope you like BBQ, That is what if will be 90% of the time. Why I am a BBQ Chef. www.scottydsbbq.com that is what I do. go figure. Good Luck all I did it I know you all can to. Oh yeah Killer ribs. (no really killer ribs) they are hell on the band for me. We are all different.
