scottyd replied to barngal2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I don't know but I am going for more fluid on tuesday. Hope this works as I am eating way too much. It is a total bad deal right now. Fat guy out of control. well not that fat but if I keep it up I will be again. -
In no way is a big mac a slider food, slider foods are soft and in the form of a milk shake or oreo's, candy bars, ice cream, canned fruit. you get the picture. Hamb burger and fries nope. These kill me in the chest. I would be in pain like a great big train. NO DISRESPECT.

oh I feel your pain, my band and stomach swelled shut, then the band slipped, I had it repaired, now I get no restriction or no full sensation, you know what I mean, I have gained a little weight back. I have not lost any since I was rebanded. I am doing everything the same but no positive out come, am I frustrated yes. I will however continue to do the right thing. That is just me as I am on a quest, I have 25lbs left to go, I have lost 180lbs so far. so I am happy. go figure. -

Did the film "Shallow Hal" offend anyone?

I get a little miffed at the movie and even this forum tends to be all female and their views. Let the record show I have been a fat man for more that 40 plus years and I have been called every name in the book. The one I can not stand Is morbidly obese come on just use the F word say FAT. Instead of skating around the fact. But hey I have lost over 180+lbs . By the way I thought the movie was a Hoot. -
I Think your Name on here is really awesome. I do believe that all on this Forum in some way are (with the band)hahaha your however are the original. All my best Scotty D

What would you do, if this happened to you?
scottyd replied to jenrobbar951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can call in the morning and be in by 10am to my Dr. I know he is busy. but I have never ever had a problem getting in unless he is not in the office, then it is the next day. Or I will see his partner. Not a problem. These Guys are the best. and the staff are Sweet. -
I go to the buffet and pick out the steamed veggies and have not had a problem. Once I tried a egg roll and It rolled me into the bathroom for a pb deal and never again for that deal. veggies and hot sour soup just a few bits though. never to much liquid. As you want this food to stay in your stomach. and the soup is like drinking. No breaded crap. no noodles stuff, no shrimp, may be some chicken if it looks fresh and not dry. No beef or pork I can't do it. Sometimes they have steamed fish I will do a little of that. Keep in mind I can't eat much. So I am done pretty much quick. The family that has the Chinese place knows me from 180lbs ago and says what not another trip to the troth. just laughs I just say it's time to get your money back. haha

As we all are different: I would say you are to dam tight as my own experience, Now for you use your own thought process to figure out what you want to do. I did what I thought what I wanted and I ended up going in and getting some taken out. listen to your body. You will know what to do. Make sure your drinking plenty of water? If not get an unfill so you can drink very important. Trust yourself I am sure your smart. Good luck.

Why I'm considering a lawsuit...

I really feel that you need to give it more time, get another fill. There is no foundation for your cause. However you have a wonderful base for weightloss and that is what you seek. Now you have found the site ans the support that can help you get there. I know for sure there are people here who will help. This site is full of POSITIVE people who all have great idea's and past and present issues with the Lap-band that can be helpful. One I have for you is go to your Dr. and get a fill and talk about your frustrations of not loosing weight. Tell him/her how your feel I am sure he will care how you are feeling and work with you on your issues. We all have them that is why we all do the all the pre surgery tests that we do!!! To make sure we are mentally ready for this. Your Dr. does care.:thumbup:he is busy but he does care. Scotty D -
Do you FEEL fat????????
scottyd replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad someone started this thread, I am down 180+ lbs I started this journey at 397lbs I for one look into the mirror and still to this day see the fat man of 397lbs. I don't see the guy of 217lbs give or take. I struggle with my own mental picture. It is crazy I know I know. weird but that's me. So yes I feel fat over weight and out of control. "Does anyone know what I am feeling." -
Is this what proper restriction feels like?
scottyd replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is all in your body adjusting to the fill, sometimes the swelling takes a few days to calm down. I for one will get a fill and the adjustment will not be noticed for a few days to a week or so. It is like my stomach is so tough or the area the band is around wont give in it takes awhile to let the band work. I don't know if this is what really is going on but I talk to my Dr all the time about this and he just says your in the 2/5% that just keeps us on our toes and we keep learning from you. I just say Really is this good or a bad thing. He says I will be fine. I always say ok then. So I have all the faith in the world in my Dr. he is the best I can call anytime and get a appt any time. -
When will I feel decent again?
scottyd replied to lamar44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
15 days and you will not even know you had anything done. Well really I have had the lap band done twice now and a hernia repair 3 major things in 12 months and 6 days so I have been beat up a lot this year the worst is the GAS pain. the last was Jan 6 2010 for a band slip that shocked me totally. I have recovered well from all this. feel geat and am doing all things I have done before. Although I refuse to shovel snow. I guess I am taking the easy way out on that one as I am not going to pay 25,000 for a snow shoveling accident. Really. But I do feel good -
Hey friends step back and relax. all your thoughts and feelings are over taking your real issue here. I think you want to be healthy. so knock it off these feelings are normal and will soon pass. I have had my band for over a year and yes I am in the 2 to 5% that have had the trouble with a band slip am I upset about it. Well not really as there is only one thing I can do and that was fix the dam thing and go through the whole process again. so here I am in bandster Hell again. by the way I am gaining weight right now I am pissed. I am healing fast this time around as i am in better shape this time. I took 3 days off work. Somewhat sore but good to go. I am on my feet for 10 hours. I can feel the port. big deal. now it is 20 days since the surgery and I can't feel a thing. Glad I did it again. I love my Dr's staff. My Dr. is great too.
-
That really is the beast, I need a fill I get in the next day. I call and sham wow it is done. no big deal. if I had to wait 3 weeks that is time wasted. Good grief charlie brown. I for one would have gained 10 lbs by then. I am a gainer forsure.

help they found fluid in my abdomen!!!!!
scottyd replied to NouraShuman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So where is the fluid coming from and what kind of fluid is it. I think we need more information. I for one would like to know. As I have had many problems and surgeries. So do tell???:cursing: -
I say get on the board and use it. If it breaks take it back. I used mine when I was 390 plus lbs and it still works. They are built pretty good. I think they have to put a weight limit on them but really who cares. I used it and still do I am now 219 or a little less and mine is still good as new. so work a way and if it breaks TAKE it back.

I had my band fixed due to a slip on Jan 6 2010 how I found out I had a slip was I could not eat more than 4 bites of food after a unfill it was a bad deal. I went in for a check up and the next thing I know I am in surgery. well after a barrium swallow test that showed a slipped band. 2 hours later I was in the OR getting it fixed I really have a great respect for my Dr. and his staff. They are the best and their attention to detail is tops. It is all about the customer. I Just wish I would have not had a slipped band I just fell in to the 2 to 5% that have problems. this sucks. We just need to follow our dr's orders to a T. Scotty D

Recovery Time????
scottyd replied to morichesdonna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put it off to work around my work and I only took 3 days including the weekend. and six weeks after returning to work I was let go after 10.5 years. It's your life and time, if you need more take more. I would not put anything off ever again because of me being a great employee. I have watch and seen how good employees get the Shaft in the end. Do this for yourself and set it up around your schedule. Scotty D -
My kids which are older 23,24, 26 got my wife and I a Wii sports and Wii fit plus for Christmas I have not used it yet. I must be to lazy or I not really in to games. But maybe in the next few weeks I look into it. :smile2:

Lapband slippage- problems while waiting for corrective surgery
scottyd replied to Ses's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I for one have been through this just with in the past few weeks. I have also had my band replaced when I went in for a fill and they checked the position of the band. a few hours later I was in surgery getting it replaced. Get to your Dr. for the band. I did the vomiting and whole works. This is no time to drag your feet the sooner you get this done the sooner you find if you can have it replaced with out having the band out for months to heal. Then do another surgery. So my friend see your Doc now.
