Who's getting banded on January 13th?
baylee9866 replied to adamsmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
190 calories, no fat, 1.5 carbs and 45 grams of protein in 1 scoop It is called Gladiator and is made by Smoothie King. You CANNOT have them make this drink in the store as they add fruit, but you can buy the powder and I make it with 1/2 cup 1% milk, 1/2 cup water and 1 cup of ice. Tastes good and comes in choc, strawberry and vanilla. A YUMMY drink in the store if you are out and about is the Low Carb smoothie. It has alot of protein as well, and is made with the powder Muscle Milk. They do not add fruit to this one and it is nice when you are out and need a drink (meal)! I think they have a website Smoothieking.com?? -

OMG Tweety I am sooo Jealous I would love to eay anything mushie... BUT I have to go 2 full weeks of liquids. I think my Dr. really hates me or something (hehe) Has anyone noticed a pain in one side under their rib cage? I had a bad pain this morning when I was trying to get out of bed?? I am assuming it is the port. If anyone has a clue, please let me know. I go back to the Dr. on Monday so I am hoping he will say all looks good EAT but I know that wont happen. It is so funny how everything on T.V is food, and all I can think about is food. PRETTY pathetic huh. -

Hi everyone! I am with you adamsmom, I am taking my pills whole.. I do not know if I could get over the taste of crushing them up :yikes: I have stopped taking the pain meds and have decided to use the liquid tylenol today, feeling pretty good. The gas is getting better, god I love gas x strips! It is freezing here in Md. about 19 degrees, guess I will not be going outside to get some fresh air. I really wanted to get up and get outside today to catch a nice walk... guess that will have to wait. 11 more days till I can have "baby food" AHH I never thought I would be so excited to eat mashed anything! -

I was not told that I could have warm items, and have been sipping soup everyday I know every Dr. is different, great job on the weight loss. You are all talking me in to just trying the Tylenol again! So are you on liquids only until 2 weeks out and then "baby stage food" ? That is what I am on and I go back to my Dr. on Mon. I will let you know if I hear anything then about what else can be done for gas. It has to go away right?? -

Adamsmom, I was wondering why it was so hard to go to the bathroom! It takes much concentration and 5 minutes just to go potty I TRIED the liquid tylenol on the 1st night.. well kinda. My great helpful husband gave it to me and I was in pain HE then read the bottle and realized he gave me 1/2 the dose, and I have not tried it again! But maybe I should as I do not feel as though I am dying just the little aches and pains, and if the gas would go away that would be a huge plus. AND do not sell yourself short, you are right behind me! AND have lost more weight CONGRATS on that!! This is hard work and we all deserve a great big round of applause. -

Andylou, I am not sure were the port went in... I have 5 incisions. I am sure the Dr. told me and my husband but I was out of it. I still cant bring myself to look at the pic of the inside of my stomache with the lap band attached GROSS! It must be something that has to be run down the side as I have been reading my books and it seems everyone has a post that either there left or right side hurts worse?? If you firgure it out let me know I am very curious. I just keep thinking that I am going to wake up and all of this pain will be gone on day 3 right:thumbup: Sounds good anyway. -

I bow to you ladies now! (adamsmom and cherbear) I have had a lump in my throat since yesterday... I am so afraid to cough I will not even hardly talk because I figured it will stay there until I have no other choice (hehe). The gas has been the worst for me that and the pain under my right rib cage. I am still taking 1 pain pill every 4 hours figured I may as well use them and they help me sleep through the gas pain. I will say with all the negatives... It is taking me 5 minutes to potty, I really have to think about it?? Not sure if that is normal, the lump in my throat, gas and the list goes on I STEPPED on the scale today and it was under 220 YIPPEEE I can say it is all worth it !! You ladies truly inspire me and I am thankful to have found this site with such great people who do not mind sharing there concerns, it has really helped me not to freak out. -

ADAMSMOM, glad to hear from you and that all went well! I did not have to drink anything but 2 little cups of Protein shake to get my meds no baruim yuk either! I am with you on the cold drinks etc. they feel bad going down... even the popsicle I tried to eat last night and that WAS my favorite meal (hehe) In regards to the young man, I think Adam?? On pain meds what can I say WOW I had pain in my shoulder that was keeping me up... could not figure out what that was and my nurse called to check on me she said it was gas?? In my shoulder I thought, well I took a Gas X strip tasted o.k. to I was nervous it would make me sick... well I feel 100% better now!! Is anyone else having trouble taking small sips?? I keep gulping because my mouth is SOOO dry.. that is why I probably have so much gas pain. That is awesome, I am so glad that you and your husband are doing great !! Quick ?? Are you having any pain/discomfort in your shoulders.. I for the life of me cannot figure out what it is. It sounds like you had the same fast track as I did. The nurses at the surgery centers are GREAT, I was the ONLY surgery for the day (hehe) My Dr. usually does surgerys on Mon and Thurs. and and he was over booked so they bumped me to Tues. (I found out last week) and it was only me in the whole center. TALK about a private room. I figured it would either be great service or they would just let me die, the nurse assured that made way more paperwork for them so I would be kept a close eye on. She said we wont even let this one fall out of the bed, we will be out of here in no time. They had a great sense of humor. I wish the best for you guys and can't wait to hear how all of our fellow bandsters do from here on out!:tt2: -

Well ladies, I hope you all had a succesfull journey I was in the surgery center for check-in at 6:30a.m. and went back to the operating room at 7:30 was OUT the door a little after 10 a.m. I TRIED that whole liquid Tylenol thing...well, I ended up taking my prescription a few hours later. I was not dying just very uncomfortable and decided I am off work I may as well sleep as much as possible and just use it. NTL.. I think asked for pointers well here is my input. BRING your own protein powder to make a drink there, the nurse will not give you any pain meds after you wake up until you have eaten something and the one at our center is NASTY! Luckily my hubby had already made a run to smoothie king. I know at first my Dr. and nutrionist said NO smoothie king, but brought them in the bottles (powder form) and a packet showing the ones they make there the Low carb only has 268 calories, 9 fat, 7 carbs BUT 39 grams of protein when you are out it is GREAT made in a blender with ice the BEST You can buy the Gladiator powder mix for home I use 1/2 milk, 1/2 cup water and the scoop of powder blen it with ice and it only has 180 calories, no fat, 45 protein and 1 carb!! they come n choc, vanilla and strawberry. My dr. was floored and I brought them one and they agree BEST drink they have had. smmothieking.com this is my NEW best friend. Other than that wear comfy clothes, slip on shoes and get out of bed asap it does make you feel better!! -
Scared/Nervous-Second guessing myself

I go in tomorow at 6:30 a.m. the first surgery of the day (my Dr. uses a surgery center) I am soooo excited and just like you, I have been trying to make up reasons not to go. The what if's are killing me :cursing: I was SUPPOSED to be on all liquids for 2 weeks, well I cheated 3 times.... if I can't do this how am I going to make it through post op and not cause slippage... so many questions. Looking back at the last 2 years of my life, I have been so tired. I have days when I do not even want to get out of bed, my husband comes home to put my kids on the bus because I feel horrible. I do not hang out with my friends anymore because I am enbaressed at how I look. BUT Tomorow will be the first day of my NEW life, I know we can do this. Just think in a few months we will look back and wonder why we even doubted ourselves. I wish you the best of luck and the best of health. -
Great question! I go in for my band tomorow :cursing: and was wondering what type of food I will be able to eat in a week! I have been on liquids for 2 weeks and can not wait for anything othe than Jello and Protein shakes. Looking forward to boiling some veggies

Hi Whiteb4... sorry to hear that you are emotional too  I have been on a rollercoaster for the past week and it has been scary and exciting all at the same time. My mother had her stomache stapled years ago and passed away she was 42..... ALL I can think about is my kids and my husband. I keep thinking what if. Then I ask myself what kind of life can I live like this, tired all the time, high blood pressure and the list goes on. Mu husband keeps assuring me that all will be fine. I have not told my family yet, so I am nervous about if something happens I know they will be upset. (if I have complications etc. I know I will be fine) I did tell my mother in law and husband of course but that is it. My kids are 8 and 11 and I do not want them to worry. Everytime I ever went on a "new diet" I always heard the flack from family and friends, it is hard but remember you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else. Just focus on proving them wrong, make them jealous that wow you look great... just think in a few years you can say I told you so. Good luck and I look forward to hear how EVERYONE is doing this week :wub:baylee9866@aol.com Off work for the next 2 weeks if you ever need to talk I will be here. -

Hello, I am scheduled to be banded on Tues. Jan13th at the surgery center with Dr. Greene. I was just wondering if anyone else has used him and what there experience was? I was reading that some people stay for hours a the hospital after surgery and I was told at pre-op that I am the first apt. at 6:30 a.m and would be walking out the door by 10a.m..... getting nervous that maybe we wont be home in time to get the kids ANY comments are greatly appreciated.

THANKS so much for the help! I am on the 14 day liquid diet.. although I have cheated a few times as you see from my previous post. I was just unclear as to what CLEAR liquids meant. I will continue with the yummy shakes and Jello. I REALLY hope that I am sore and not wanting to eat after surgery I know that sounds horrible but I am so afraid that I will not be able to make it another two weeks feeling SOOO hungry  Maybe with a lot of sleep and a little pain I will wake up in 2 weeks and feel great (hehe) I wish everyone the best of luck on Tues.,lots of little livers and a new lease on life. -

I have another question  Do you have to have only clear liquids the day before surgery... I have been in support groups etc. for over 6 months and now I have a few days left of all liquids and now I am trying to remember if the last day (Mon.) is clear liquids and if so I guess that means no protein shakes etc. HELP -

Hello everyone, I am new to this site.... just signed up today! I am going in for surgery at 6:30 a.m. on the 13th of Jan. with Dr. Greene in Rockville, Md. I must say the all liquid diet is VERY hard. I started on all liquids on Jan.2nd and have already cheated 3 times.... I am trying my best to get through this and could use some advice. I am taking the prev pack of medication from my positive h-pylori during the upper g-i and find myself throwing up alot. I have to take a total of 14 pills twice a day and sometimes find myself vomiting. Is anyone else having the same problems, and if so what have you tried?? AHHH I hope my liver is small I am down 12lbs since I started keep your fingers crossed for me
