  1. let me share my take on this, I was banded on the 16th 09...My thinking is that when you eat that popsicle or eat that Jello, you arent eating a meal,,,and all the Water you are sipping in between and during this time is just counted at survival and hydration. i think we just arent eating anything but liquids and that doesnt make a meal,,,,not im my book...good luck to you

I was banded on the 16th too....I did alright until Saturday where I started feeling nauseous but feel much better now.

Have you started on the next diet phase? I will find out for myself tomorrow.

  2. Toy: You are in my prayers. It sounds miserable. I was so Blessed with a very smooth and uneventful recovery. I am laying hands on you now and standing in the gap for you that Jesus will touch your body and take that nausea and vomiting away. Amen

Thank-you for the prayers and i truly received the results today. By the time my meds arrived the nausea was gone. I feel much better today and looking forward to my appointment tomorrow. I am praying in his word for all members hear to suffer not.

  3. Call your surgeon, don't wait. He needs to know about this. (You can get a prescription for your nausea.) Dehydration is dangerous!

You are right on target! I called and a prescription has been called in and a family member is on the way to pick it up as I write this.

I really appreciate your response and it is great knowing we have the support for each other here.

  4. I am now 10 days post op and have been feeling really sick. I am nauseous 24/7 and it gets worst when I am walking.

I can no longer sip my Protein and broth. I am barely getting the Water in me. I sip in small slow sips and no longer can get the 20z down.

Going to bed the last two nights was disastrous as i was fighting to keep from vomiting. I gagged but nothing came up. I am scheduled to see my surgeon this Wednesday in the a.m.

Did anyone go through this? If so what did you do?

  5. Hi Toyster,

Tried at three chemists but none of them have ever heard of it. One looked on his computer as well with no luck. Is it a De-gasser? Is it on prescription only?

    Best wishes.

Are you talking about the whey Protein? I cannot tolerate regular Protein Powder (Hard protein) so I use Whey Protein which is formulated for people like me. I buy the vanilla flavor because you can add it to any juice or food and it is very good tasting. I purchase mine from a health food store in Oak Lawn, IL

    Google Jay Robb Whey Protein.

  6. Hi,

I ended up in emergency and was tested negative for a blood clot. While examining me the doctor noticed that every so often was trying to catch my breath.

The resident surgeon my surgeon's team was on duty and mentioned this happened to other patients and it is diaphragm related and will go away within the next week.

For the belching problem I was prescribed Prevacid Solubetab. Otherwise I am doing fine and want to thank IndioGirl for Crystal Lite tip to go with my protien drink. The morning sunrise is great tasting.

I wish everyone well and I am a prayer warrior thus praying for the members of this group.

May Grace and Peace Be Unto You and I am living for Jesus too!

  7. IndioGirl,

I really do appreciate your response at the time of my need. It could very well be that I am not getting enough Water. My blood pressure was great as it was 122/67 and pulse 89 this morning. I take an ace inhibitor and HTZ water pill. I just started the blood thinning Lovenox injections on the day after surgery for twice a day.

I will make a concentrated effort on more water and you are right this is banders hell I'm going through. I am having a hard time getting in the 60grams of Protein as well.

I am drinking Why protein mixed with Apple juice, today I had watered down and liquified mushroom Soup, a no sugar low Carb fudge bar and water only 3x so far.

I am drinking 2oz at a time and about 30 minutes apart until around 9p.m. I have already lost 12lbs and it hasn't been a week yet.

  8. Hi,

Has anybody experienced rapid heart beats and a subtle shortness of breath? I am taking the lovenox injections for 2 weeks and suspect this may be the culprit. I do have a call into the surgeon's nurse. I also had some dizzyness briefly today and perhaps this is happening due to the change in eating by being on the phase one full liquids

  9. Hi everyone, I was just banded Monday, it's Wednesday now. I survived! The drugs that everyone so "loves" after surgery only speed me up so this lady hadn't had any sleep until she started taking only liquid tylenol. I'm still "drinking," bouillion with Protein powder, etc. Tomorrow I get to go to creamy chocolate shakes.

I had to have a hernia repaired along with my band. Didn't know I even had it. The gas pains have NOT been fun.

I do get inspiration from reading your posts and to see that you have regular (low carb but normal) food in your lives. For some reason, I picture myself always having to have "special food" and I worry about that. I guess I just have to heal, have my first fill in 6 weeks. Right now, had too much of a bite of SF popsicle and could tell it wasn't going down.

But I do love reading your posts. Nice to see that everyone has lost weight, has their ups and downs and you all seem to "get back on the wagon" so to speak. That means everyone is human but the weight loss choice we've made shows we're tuff as nails!

    Thank you!

:closedeyes:Congratulations on your surgery! Your post most certainly helped me overcome some jitters. I will be banded this Friday the 16th of January. I will be demanding pain meds as I have a low tolerance for pain.

  10. Hi, and WELCOME!!

I've been taking Centrum Chewable/Senior ever since banding without a problem. Vit B gel cap is probably okay, but you might have a problem with the big Calcium cap. Might want to switch to a chewable calcium. I use the ones from costco. And I found some fairly small Vit. C. I take fish oil, too, and most of them are pretty big. But I found some that come in little foil packets... squeeze it out into a SF pudding once a day. It has an orange taste.. kind of pleasant.

    Phyllser,

Thank-you for your response and I will go shopping for the Vitamins you use. The information you provided is very helpful

  11. I am so glad for finding a group where I feel comfortable posting. I am 60 and being banded this Friday, January 16, 2009. I am concerned about taking my Vitamins because I was told the pills can not be bigger than a tylenol tablet.

Can someone share with me how you took vitamins right after surgery.

I have the Centrum chewable, Vitamin B complex which is a gel cap and a big gel cap of liquid Calcium with Vitamin D.< /p>
