    Port Area Bleeding?

I'd go in if he hasn't seen it. I talked to a doc over the phone once about my son, questioning if he had RSV and the doc said not unless he had certain symptoms--which he never had. My son almost died! Well, he did several times and was brought back. So if it is really worrying you like it sounds like, I'd go in.

    Psych Eval....

Every dr does them differently. Mine had a 700 question bubble test. when he ran it thru the computer it told him what kind of questions to ask me, and how many. The doc talked to me for like a half and hour or less. They just want to make sure you know what you are getting into, make sure you can handle the changes, and identify posible past issues that would hinder your weight loss. It's really no big deal. Mine passed me. My BFF has to do one or two counseling sessions due to her husbands alcohalism. No big deal. Just takes time--like 3 hours.

    Classical Singing/Opera

I have sang all my life. Losing weigh will not affect your voice. Like Bethany said you will find that you have alot more breath support as your body doesn't have to support all the fat. lol Of couse exercise helps that. Don't worry--be happy!!

    Pea sized bites!!!

I agree to all. What the heck is a screw cap??
  7. Does anyone else play serious mind games with the scale?? I am FINALLY on track with workin the diet that is expected after surgery and sure I'm losing. I want to look at the scale but a few weeks ago I did and gain like 2 pounds--I did just eat lunch but... So instead of working out like I had planned I got mad and ate cookies. But that's not just it. Last time I noticed I lost weight my mind tells me "Cool!! Let's eat to celebrate!" DAMN SCALE!!! I used the ketostix and it was nice and purple so I know I'm losing. Curiousity is starting to get to me. I see my dietician on friday so I will wait till then for now but in the future.....?

    Hair Loss

Nioxin is expensive but some people say it works, but you have to continue using it for more than just one bottle.

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

As long as I don't miss anymore "supervised" exercise times I will be done jumpin thru da hoops on June 2! :welldoneclap: My BFF and I are trying to do it on the same day and her doc that she works for will be out the 12-21. My insurance lady says they approve pretty quickly so I'm hoping my doc office will make an exception b4 that and give us a surgery date around the 12th. My BFF has a time share so we plan to get a cabin and heal n' chill together--WITHOUT KIDS!!! Otherwise her next vacation is in July 8-12--not long enuf to me. I can't wait for us to have a name! Any thoughts??

    Liquids in; liquids out

My first thought was anxiety also. Especially when you said it was your first workout. That would cause anxiety every time to me! LOL When you start feeling a tightness in your chest, cant breath, and your heart rate is going crazy, remember to BREATH and think of your HAPPY PLACE! LOL Basically breath and calm down, think of things that are not stressful. Things like... Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens; Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens; Brown paper packages tied up with strings; These are a few of my favorite things. Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels; Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles; Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings; These are a few of my favorite things. Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes; Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes; Silver-white winters that melt into springs; These are a few of my favorite things. When the dog bites, When the bee stings, When I'm feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad. LOL!! Hope that helps ALL!! :scared2:
  14. Y'all are so inspiring! I can't wait to have your problem of a size 16!! LOL :scared2:
  15. I was totally going to send you a personal note to go to julie.ann 's blog. I read it a few months ago and copied in my email for future use after I get the band. Check it out.
  16. My insurance lady at my surgeons office said it will take a week or so. and said that Aetna is "really good" at approving quickly. Good Luck! I am anxious for you.
  17. I agree. Hope you didn't think that I was sticking to what my doctor's goal was for me. I was just answering the question as to who and how my goal was made for the records. I do recall writing in my journal that night when I got his goal for me. I said something to the effect that I hope I don't play mind games with myself thinking that I have to stop at his goal. Mine is lower to a weight (or a look) like when I was 16. But I'm afraid the "look" will be a bit different 23 years later, after 4 kids, and flabby skin from 125 lbs of stretch and release. LOL
  18. LMAO!! OMG!! That was FUNNY!!!!
  19. I think my doc calculated 70% of the amount of my excess weight. Stating that "most" people don't reach what the charts say is their "ideal" weight. Some docs say you will only lose 50% of the excess weight. And of course here you see some people reach and exceed their "ideal" weight. I think it depends on how long you have been overweight, age, I don't know. I, of course have my own goals beyond my docs. Anyway, hope that helps.

    Frustrated

I can only tell you what my BFF told me and that was..."Don't give up! Keep doing whatever you have to do to have the surgery. No matter what." I have set myself back 5 weeks thus far cuz I started my exercise program 2 weeks late, then my car was out of commission for 2 weeks, then I found out I only have to go once a week for insurance instead of the 2 I was doing of supervised exercise so I skipped Tue and then we had a blizzard on Thur. So another week went by. If that's not bad enough the money I saved from tax returns for my surgery I have had to use since I have been unable to find a job for 2 months. GRRRRR!!!!!! Sorry, didn't mean to take away from your frustrations. Jumping thru the hoops is a means of perseverence. If we really want it we will persevere!! Ooo, that sounds like a good phrase to put in my signature! LOL :w00t: Good Luck! You will PERSEVERE!!

Apnea and will NOT use Cpap

:blush:Thanks everyone! I am one who is trying to stay in denial about needing the cpap. I have to do the test again with the cpap but had to cancel once cuz of money issues. :frown: And still havent done it--tho the money issue is still there I am more convinced after reading here that I need to do it. I am at the point that I hate going to bed at night cuz I toss and turn all night, and unlike the people who don't dream I have extremely WEIRD dreams. :bored: It's time for bed now and I'm dreading going eventho I love my comffy bed. :w00t: And morning takes too long to get here but then I don't wanna get up. My kids say I have "goldfish brain"--3 second memory. And I feel stupid and foggy all the time. :tongue_smilie: What do ya think--do I really need it??

    Question about CPAP

I haven't got the cpap yet--if you don't have it there's nothing wrong with you?! My question is--When you first got it what changes did you have besides for a goodnight sleep? :crying: --brain function? --memory? --weight loss? --energy? --etc?

    Question about co-morbidities

Presence of severe obesity that has persisted for at least the last 2 years, defined as any of the following: Body mass index (BMI)* exceeding 40; or BMI* greater than 35 in conjunction with any of the following severe co-morbidities: On Aetna's requirements it says BMI exceeding 40 OR co-morbidities. You have a BMI of 50 and atleast 2 years proof over 40 BMI then you do NOT need a co-morbidity. Co-morbs help but not necessary. You do not need to worry, you qualify. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

What are my chances? Aetna PPO NAP

Your BMI is above 40. You don't need comorbidities. It helps, but not required. Just re-read your post about the previous 2 years and BMI 35-37. If you have high blood pressure that's it for the comorb. Do you have depression? That can be one also. Don't worry--be happy! I've heard that even if they do deny you just keep submitting, they just want to see that you really want it. Look thru the forums, go far back if you have to. Many people have talked about it. That was actually how I found this forum--looking for a convo about it. Don't worry.
