    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

Hello! I'm just wondering if we should post a poll for our name? So far I only see June Journeys and Jumpin' June Bugs, with no other solid names. I don't know how to post a poll and feel it should be on the general forum for those that don't get on this one. I know sum of you like June Journeys, but I'm not sure of using that as an official looking name at the bottom of posts is appropriate if we all haven't voted on it. I will investigate doing a poll, but I'm computer retarded so not sure if it happens. I'll let you know, or if you can do one that's great.

I thought I saw some name with 'journey' in it. IDK where. FYI--after I looked up the ugly creature my computer took a major nose dive!!! SO DON'T GOOGLE JUNE BUGS!!! But the name is still cute if you think of a lady bug! lol

    Fun stuff

That would be cute if they had ANNOUNCEMENT cards. Instead of 'I just had a baby' it could be 'I just got BANDED'! lol Wish they had more than just one picture.
  5. I have told everyone except my family. They are very judgmental and a little protective as I am the baby of 5 and have made my fair share of mistakes. I will tell them at a mini family reunion in August--AFTER I have the surgery. I, too, am a hairstylist. I tell almost everyone when the topic of weight comes up, or pop, or counting calories.....anything that will allow me to slip it in. You can tell with your clients when it might not be appropriate to bring it up. The reason I bring it up is twofold. One, I get to educate people who only think of the by-pass as WLS. Secondly, by talking to people I have come across several who have had the surgery and have been very encouraging. I am a big believer that when things are kept quiet that ignorance is kept alive. NOT at all to say everyone should take that stand! I am an extrovert so it is easy for me. Good luck on your decision.
  6. I think they are jealous! And I am too!!! I have heard of 'addiction transfer', basically you changed from one addiction to another. And since it's a healthy addition it's OK, if it's affecting other areas of life then it's a problem that needs a little tweeking. Like if you are denying time with family and friends, or it's affecting work, etc, etc. Otherwise good for you! I hope that I, too, can have that addiction!!!!

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

YEA!!! I'm so glad you got a date! I am just waiting to finish my exercise stuff then I can submit. But that wont be till the end of May. My insurance lady said if I have it in by May 26 I should be able to have my surgery on June 11th. My surgeon is out from the 12-26. So I really hope I can get the 11th. I know I thought of it but I still like Jumpin' June Bugs!! Does anyone else have any ideas?

    Mushy vs. Pureed

U can make any food into pureed--from what I'v learned on here. just add some liquid of choice--no Vodka lol--to make it the right consistency. There are lots of threads on this subject. sorry that's all i know for now. Good Luck and Congrats on being banded.
  9. Aaaa...U did just have major surgery!! It is very normal. And having a baby is not as bad. Everyone handles pain differently, since you haven't had kids maybe learning to breathe thru the pain is out at this point. LOL Get a hot pad, big supporting pillow for your tummy and the remote control and BREATHE! I do the in-2-3-4 out-2-3-4 method to try to relax. Ur body just went thru trama and your muscles are a wreck from surgery and tightening up from ur stress. Relax! You'll be fine!! :tt1:
  10. I wouldn't worry about the band slipping--it is very hard to do that. BUT I would worry about the "rings". Personally I'd go to Urgent Care or the Emergency room.
  11. I am with you Linda and Boo--I have 135 to lose also. I wish I didn't have the exercise part to do otherwise I'd be done now!!! I started 2 weeks late and missed 3 weeks in March. So that puts me back to having to wait till June for surgery! Besides for blood tests which will only take a minute to do and getting my the sleep test done again but with the CPAP machine I am completely done with all insurance requirements. I wish I knew how you're getting around not having to do it.
  12. Hello! I am also doing the Aetna 3 month multi-dis. And I DO have to do the exercise. I have to do mine at the Cardiac Rehab, they have a community program here. My insurance lady said I couldn't do just the gym or curves cuz of the "physician supervised". I would call Aetna directly or have your lady clarify why you don't cuz you don't want to do 3 months of everything else then find out. Or just do it anyway to cover your butt. Good Luck!!

    I gotta ask about sex?

Hey! I saw a sex therapist on a thread sumwhere. She mite still be around--ask her.

    I gotta ask about sex?

IDK. I'm just curious about post op depression? That can cause that problem. Try to reassure her of your love in other ways. I know my husband's 'actions of love' are mainly in the bed and he's not got at the verbal and throughout the day actions of love. Good luck, it will pass.

    Stressed from the Stress Tests

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

How about this for a name... Jumpin' June Bugs!! ?????

This is why I had surgery!!!!

You made my eyes leak! :scared2:
  19. And, yes, most everyone has to do the psych eval. They just want to see if you can handle the changes that are to come. We all have past issues that have contributed to our weight problem but they want to know if they will continue to hinder our efforts after surgery.

Keep on paddling and stop drifting in the water....

Woo Hoo!! 90 lbs?! last I heard it was 80! I am so proud of you!! You know it is a day to day process and there are temptations every day. You have been doing great and it happens once in a while that we drift away--we are still human. There is no strait line to the end we are constantly on a detour and having to redirect our path. You are the Bomb, you are doing AWESOME, and I know that you will reach an island soon, the mainland isn't too far off!!

    stress test

I wish mine was done chemically!! I had to do the treadmill. By the end (and when I could finally get my breath to talk) I told them I didn't like them very much! LOL But it was all good. YUCKY tho.
  24. I did not read the post from last week but I agree with what you said. My pre-op hoops that I am jumping thru have really helped me learn a way of doing things for the long hull instead of a quick fix. And I do agree that for those who have more that 200 (just picking a high number--can vary) and for immediate health reasons then by-pass may be a better choice. Of course, the choice is ultimately our own, but I believe in the band over the by-pass cuz of the lessons learned and lesser side effects or complications.
  25. I agree with loke. Also you could need a really good POOPl LOL:lol: You know how weight fluctuates and from what I hear post op is for healing not weight loss. Can't give much words of wisdom when my head play games with the numbers on the scale and last time I gained 2 lbs I was so mad I didn't workout and went and ate very high calorie cookies:blush:--not suggested. But just heal and chill, you will lose soon when you are better.:cool2:
