    June 2009 Surgery

Hello!! I did not know we had another June 2009 Surgery thread. I always go to the one in the June forum. Glad to see some new names. My Gizmo (my band's name) will arrive on June 11th. I am finally getting excited and am trying hard to stop having my last supperssss. lol I do think I am done. Pancakes and eggs this morning but that's IT!! I only have 2 days pre-op diet, one mushies and one liquid. I am having more anxiety about my pre-op drs appt the day before then the surgery. For some reason they are gonna check out my headlights and my exhaust pipe (lol). Don't have a clue what both those places have to do with this surgery, but not too happy thay someone other than my husband and PCP are checking them out!! Toolman, I am wondering how you are doing??

    Surgery Done June 6th

YEA! Your in Bandland! :w00t: lol Hope they get you stable soon. Remember to breathe! In, 2, 3, 4, out, 2, 3, 4...lol  And that SUCKS that you started your period! That is my fear. I'm suppose to start the day of surgery. Hopefully I'll just spot a bit that I won't have to worry about it while in surgery. Soon you wont even remember all this cuz you'll be reaping the rewards of the band!

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

 We recently went looking for a sports bra for my daughter who was "blessed" with her mother's endowments, and it was rediculous that there are no sports bras for the big ladies. It actually discouraged her enuf not to do basketball for that time. Thanks for the links, I will look into it.

    Pre-Op Diet

So my original goal was to be at 250 on surgery day (even if butt naked!). So if I have basically 4 1/2 days until surgery I could loose 10 lbs?! My problem is that I don't HAVE to do the pre-op but for 2 days--mushies on Tuesday and liquids on Wednesday. I have good intentions of doing the liquid diet, I try to start it then get hungry and tell myselt that I don't have to do it right now. But I would LOVE to meet my goal for Thursday. I am starting a colon cleanse today, that helped me get to the 255 for my last doc appt. (we wont tell anyone that I gained back 5 from my many 'last suppers'. ) I'll let you know if I make it to goal for surgery day. :blushing:

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

5 DAY!! I am starting to get excited!! Not eating as much "last supper" stuff, but will have pancakes and eggs in the morning--sorry all you 'liquid people'. LOL picturing globs of jello people walking around. lol! OK, my question. Port area----big boobs??? I'm worried about the healing if my boobs are constantly rubbing on it (sorry guys (unless you have big boobs too) LOL).

Rant "Teenagers Can't eat a whole one"

OMG! I am there with you all!! My 19 yr old is perfect! (he's at Boston College so he's never here.) My 14 yr old daughter?? OMG she is driving me CRAZY!! I am mostly a single mom (married but single--better married seperately! lol) Some times she is the best in the world and very helpfull with my 3 and 4 yr olds, but then I wonder what the heck happened?!! I made the mistake of being her friend and it's hard to get the mom respect back. And since I'm complaining I can't leave out the little ones. They are boys--is that all I need to say? Very active, LOUD, play fighting all the time so they get in trouble at daycare for being too rough, and in less than a minute they can trash the house!! Of which I have given up cleaning and attempt to use it as punishment for my daughter but I can argue with her point of "why clean it, they are just going to make another mess when I'm done if not while I'm cleaning up". Phew!! I feel better now, thanks!

Always scary to get out of my comfort zone. And I know i will attempt to use the excuse that it costs money to join and I is poe! lol So keep me in line!!

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

Just a question---so we've all been working towards our goal of actually getting banded, then what?? Besides for the obvious lose weight. Ya know like when people get married they have all this busy work to do for the wedding, then the honey moon, but then there's a let down--all the work is done now what? I know that is when the post-surgery depression comes into play, so I'm just trying to figure out what to look forward to (besides the hum-drum of everyday eating and working out) so I might be able to head it off at the pass. When my doc says I can I'd like to do a 'boot camp' workout for at least 3 months, but I'm not sure I can afford it cuz of surgery and time off work w/o pay. Any thoughts??

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

Hey elcee, I heard someone say that crackers can be part of the mushy stage cuz it pretty much melts in your. But if I'm nauseous after I will suck on a cracker like I did when I was pregnant so I wouldn't throw up. Hope you feel better soon.
  13. I, too, am VERY open about it. I feel (and have noticed) that people need to be educated. Most everyone I talk to I have to explain the difference between LB and RNY. When I explain that I still have to do all the work that it just helps me not eat too much then they seem to understand. Yesterday I talked to a 72 yr old woman who is now looking into having it done at my surgeons (wish I got free fills or sumthin for that. lol). I do, however, tend to tell large people more that thin people, so I guess I choose who I want to educate. AND I have not told anyone in my family cuz I do know how judgmental they are and feel may sister may be more willing to look into it if she sees my success first.

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

So I have my pre-op class (8 HOURS) next Monday. Tuesday is only mushies, and Wednesday is only clear liquids (Praise God it wasn't 2 weeks like most of you people!). But also on Wed. I have to do a "bell prep"? Basically take a prescription that will make me poop all morning! Then I have a dr appt at 2:00 that day. Concerned about the unknown I called today to find out what to expect (besides the poop. lol) at that appt. They will do a breast exam and a RECTAL exam! Please tell me what those two areas have to do with this surgery??????????????????????????????????????????????????? I told my husband (whom I avoiding sexually at the moment for personal reasons) that we my have to loosen up my hind end a little to prepare for a STRANGERS finger up my tail pipe!! (He's quite happy I have to break my subatical. :w00t:) TMI I know!

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

LOL Cute! So, yes, I was off yesterday and that didn't help, but I found myself looking thru the kitchen for things I wont be able to eat after surgery. ie bread items, Peanut Butter and banana sandwich, burrito--not thinkin I can have tortillas after, sugary capuccinos, frozen waffles, etc. I haven't made pancakes...YET! I do give myself days off once in a while and eat whatever, but when I do I deffinately get better 'cheat' food--let's go to Chili's! But that was stupid stuff I was eating yesterday. I'm not beating myself up, it just kinda caught me by surprise that I was doing that, I was fine not eating the crap in the fridge until after getting approved sunk in. I usually try to anticapate emotional bumps and pot holes but that one jumped out. I figured I did all my 'last supper' eating in the beginning of my jumpin thru da hoops. Just puttin that out there. But I still want a MARGARITA!!!

    failing

Find an inexpensive fill Dr quick!! Google it. Ask around. U have enuf life issues to cause depression, this is just one more you don't need and can control a bit with a fill. Think of it as for your emotional health as much as physical health. The amount of a fill will be a pin prick in the grand scheme of things. Good Luck!

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

I also gave birth to 4 kids--naturally and no pain meds but ibuprofin. If this really only feels like doing weigh (lol) too many sit ups I think I can handle that. Oh wait!! I just remembered what it felt like when I did a full body work out with weights for the first time (years ago). OMG!!! I'm gonna DIE if it feels like that!!!! But I guess I did live thru it. OK, I can handle the surgery. :crying: I need to hold on to that feeling tho to put it in perspective.
  22. Yes, it closes tomorrow. And unless we can get a bunch of people to vote for another name I guess we have to be the June Journeys. :hurt: :mad3: :ack2: Only 54 people have voted at this point. I'm sure there are alot more than that if this goes all around the world. :crying: Maybe someone else can start over and do a totally new poll?! LOL Oh well, I guess we have to go with that. :huh2: GO JUNE JOURNEYS!!

Hey Jill did you get my personal message to you?? Click on your name at the top if you didn't. I'm guessing you don't get texts cuz I've text a couple of times with no response. I'm going to Greeley tomorrow to turn in my last bit of info before turning it into Aetna! Wanna do lunch??

OMG!!! That was funny!! And you are SOOOOO right! Sometimes I have a hard time not telling people--DUH!!
  25. Don't worry, it's just gas from the surgery. It will pass. Walk me to help your body release the gas and use a hot pad to ease the pain. You will feel better in time, it's only been 3 days.
