    Public Waiting List???

Thanks Jacqui. Yeah, either way I will be banded by the end of October, so like you say, nothing to lose! It would be awesome to get it done publically, my poor credit card could do with the reprieve! Either way, I can't wait!
  2. Good luck for tomorrow! Enjoy the pampering by those nurses!!!

    Clothes..........

Graet idea Megsy, bigger sized clothing can be scarce at charity shops so I bet they would really appreciate your donations. :-) Such a tragedy...
  4. I know this has probably already been discussed somewhere else, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Sorry! I was wondering who other people in Melbourne went to for their band and how much it cost (if that is not too rude)? I was considering going to The Avenue as I have heard good things about the place, but I wondered if there were other good doctors and how much I should expect to pay? So excited for the band! Thanks in advance for your help!!!
  5. Thanks Megsy, that makes me feel so much better. I am 100% committed to this and I KNOW I have made the right decision, but other people keep questioning me and giving me such negative responses that it is difficult not to take it to heart. I just have to keep telling myself that this is going to give me the best chance of living a healthy life and I know what is best for me. That is so cool we have the same surgeon, by the sounds of your experience so far I have nothing to worry about.
  6. Well I've been to the info night, got my referal and now my first appointment is with Paul Burton on the 4th February. I can't wait! My waiting period is up at the end of April- I am really looking forward to the second half of this year! :yikes: It was nerve wracking getting my referal from the doctor today. I felt a little judged by my doctor and I could tell he didn't really agree with the idea of a lapband... I got the impression he just thought that I hadn't tried hard enough to lose weight. If only he knew...
  7. Hi Megsy, I hope you're feeling good after surgery!!! Congratuations. Thanks for the information, I have heard prices can vary between 2500 and 6000 so I just didn't know what to expect. It certainly is a lot of money and I am not quite sure how I am going to come up with it yet, but I think it will be worth every cent and nothing is going to stop me! Cheers, Tully.

    Sick Leave

Thanks so much for your responses, I really appreciate your help. I think i'll definitely take a week of sick leave and then also a couple of weeks of personal leave to get used to the new way of eating. I just can't imagine sitting down for lunch with a client and getting something stuck or having to ask for a blended meal!!! I also have to get my wisdom teeth out and I was half considering getting them taken out the week after my band, not sure if that is too crazy or if it is even allowed! I figure I may as well get it all taken care of while I am taking the time off work...

    Sick Leave

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and hoping to be banded at the end of April (when insurance kicks in). I just had a couple of questions about sick leave that I was hoping others might be able to help with. First, did you take sick leave or annual leave? I wasn't sure which was more appropriate. I thought maybe I could take some time as sick leave and some time as annual leave maybe? Also, how long did you take off from work? I hear most people are fine after a week but my concern is that my job involves a lot of eating with clients and travel and I am scared something will get stuck or I won't even be able to eat solid foods. So I was thinking of taking 3 weeks off to get myself used to the band. What do others think about this, too long or not long enough? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it! I am sure I will have lots more questions, but i'll try not to be too annoying!
  10. Hi Barb, I haven't had the band put in yet, but just wanted to say that I am sorry you have had such a terrible experience. I think they definitely should be able to put the band back in, even though your BMI is now lower because you would be a risk of gaining your weight back again. It doesn;t sound like you contributed to this problem at all so don't beat yourself up about it. Goodluck!

Advice needed for a pre op!

Hi Megsy, Congrats on your succesful surgery, great to hear you are feeling ok. I am from Melbourne and looking at surgey, can I ask who you are going through? Yours looks to be about $1000 less than where I was looking and as you can imagine that would make a big difference! :-) Good luck with getting all the Water down! Cheers, Tully.
