My realator recommened a doctor in Mexico-she went and lost a lot of weight. So I booked an appt. I flew down alone-big mistake,especially since I don't speak spanish! The doctor visited me before surgery-he smelled of strong alchol ,then the anthesilogist showed up and he was wearing a farmers outfit, complete with suspenders and straw in his beard! I should have got up and left but I had come so far and already paid. After surgery I was in massive pain but the nurses did not know english so I had a hell of a time getting any pain meds. The nicest american lady was there at the same time as me-she was with her husband who got the lap band the same day- she took charge and was able to relay my needs to the staff. I think of her often and feel she was my guardian angel, she kept checking up on me for the 2 days I was there.
I had the swedish band and it holds 11cc's. I get very good restrcition at 7 1/2cc's.

Anyway after surgery and before my first fill, I lost 19 lbs, I got my first fill in March. I lost approx. 25  lbs a month. I got down to 227-then went on vacation and had it unfilled July2, 2007. Then we tried to get pregnant only to find out 5 months later that my new husband had no sperm! So of course I gained weight during that five months. Jan 3rd 2008 I had it filled again. I was miserable (just like every time I get a fill)  when i have a fill I am only able to drink water-no food at all. I would barf up any and everything. I thought that was the way this worked. So I had the fill taken out 2months later.
I had another fill in Jan 09-lost 50 lbs and had it taken out for another vacation in may 09.
so now its december 09 and I weigh 282! I am having it filled again in July 2010.
my main problem is that I don't eat anything when I am filled and feel faint and dizzy 24 hours a day. Also I do faint around 5 times a day. If I am filled less than the 7 1/2 then I can and will eat anything so this is the way it has worked out for me. My hope is that I get to under 200 by my cruise and then I will be able to exercise.
