Entering Biggest Loser Contest at Gym be cheating?
SpiritDriven71 replied to singledad167's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I thought about doing the contest at the my Local YMCA. Though, I would think someone who has gotten the Lap band would be alright. Because of the Commitment to lifestyle change. Bypass, on the other hand, I think would be another story because of the Mal absorption that plays a big effect at first. FYI....Father (brown team) in the Biggest Loser TV show had bypass WLS. Of course, he gained all the weight back before entering the show. They still accepted him. -
For a second, I thought I was on Craigslist.

Here's an Update on David and Daniel from their local Paper 'Biggest Loser' journey over for local teen - Lifestyles - News & Observer It gives some insight as to why David's attitude was. David is now down 60 pounds. I would like to say that I know there's a lot of disgust at David for what he said. Though, he was being honest. It also shows How tough it is to start changing your lifestyle when you are that heavy. Come on people, we all have struggled and fallen from the bandwagon. It's why we are here and looking or gotten the lap-band to help us. He started slow but has come around WITH OUT the LAP-BAND. He's down 60 pounds. Let's hope he keeps going with it. Or he gets WLS to help him further.

You mean a pulmonary function test? The tests are see how well your lungs are doing. I would call the doctor and ask. search on webmd or mayoclinic.com -
I was wondering about this too. I would love to competitively sail again. Though, the class I am shooting for is physically demanding.

I wondered if she wanted to give up/go home. It seemed to me like she was expecting to be kicked off. As for keeping the silver team alive. It might be some tactics here. Why not keep the silver team around another week. I think keeping the weakest team in is not bad idea. Joelle not having her heart in might by some time for the others.

I am watching TBL now. I see a lot of Comments for Dan. The Orange team are actually members of the same car club that i belong. I am not just rooting for Orange because I know them, but that I believe they really need the support being that young et al.

You should find yourself a good Diabetes Education /Management Seminar. Talk to your PCP and or go to American Diabetes Association Home Page. You really need to get yourself educated. I finally finished a class. I learned so much. I have a meeting with a nutritionist (diabetes program not surgery) on Wednesday morning. I will be talking to her about ideas on the liquid diet.

How forthcoming are you to people when they ask what you did to lose weight?
SpiritDriven71 replied to catho72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am pre op. My family and two close friends know about it. The rest my aquintanices do not. My boss does because I have been taking time off for my Doc Appointments. Cubicle Neighbor knows cause we chit chat through out the day. Though, I work for a small company. There is another employee who is obese like me. As much as I would like to tell him about my upcoming surgery, and he should look into it. I don't because, It would be difficult for us to be both off from work running to Doctor's and recovering. I might bring it up once I have my surgery date. My ex does not know. Though, I know she snoops the interwebs for me. I dunno if she knows or not. When I see my daughter from my previous marriage in February, I will tell her. because next time I see her, I will be living a new lifestyle. -
Glad to see a Men's section. Oh no I am cross posting!!! Hello: I am going through the process of all my tests/appointments. I am on a 3 month diet for insurance purposes. I was hoping for Bypass surgery, though, The Doctor and I thought a Lap-band be the safer route. The reason is that I had a colon resection of the large intestine in my 20's. I have been overweight all my life. About every couple years,I end up on Weight Watchers 6 months then gain it all back. Though, I become obese and morbidly obese in the last 10 years. I got involved in a bad relationship which ended in a nasty divorce. With going through all the evaluations and Doc appointments, I was able to identify key events in my childhood when I started gaining weight and turning inward. My outlook on life has changed recently, I am looking forward to the surgery and my new lifestyle. I am happy to find this forum exists.

I got one more appointment. Then it can be submitted to INS. I am getting sick of all the appointments, LOL. I am noticing that there are some variances when it comes to different surgeons and Ins. submissions.

Have you had your sleep study done yet? I have had two. One in Philly (not Sheraton), and last night was in Audubon at the homewood suites hotel.
If you hadn't had yours. See if you can get it done in Audubon. I found it much more comfortable, plus they have free breakfest and free parking.
Oh yes, try to park on Street for next group meeting, way cheaper. It's 25 cents per 15 mins. 2.5 hours=$2.50

Anyone had or is having it done at Uof Penn in Philly?
SpiritDriven71 replied to ANTLIZ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I figured out who you were. You sat next to my wife and baby girl. I thought it was great too. I am happy that I went. I will be at the Wednesday evening support meeting also. The woman who had the surgery 7 years ago, was impressive. She gave alot of encouragement to me. Also, I just had someone I know try to steer me away from the Surgery. After the meeting, I feel it's the right thing to do. I would like to get the gastric bypass. Though, I had a previous surgery on my intestine for an severe infection. Dr. Williams suggested going with the Lap-Band. -

Weight loss before insurance approval
SpiritDriven71 replied to poppa al's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started at 43.2 BMI for my 3 month diet. ( I have Keystone East POS)My goal was to get to 40 BMI at the end of 3. In just 6 weeks, I am at 40.6. I don't plan to go below 40, and just maintain until I get my approval. -

Me! I was at the November information session. I am getting the lap band done with Dr. Williams also. Only thing left for me to do is the EKG, my 2nd half of the sleep study, nutritionist and weight management for 3 months because I have Keystone East POS. I am looking for support too. Have you been to one of the group meetings yet? I am trying this month to go.
