I haven't been on in a while, life got a little crazy, and is only going to get crazier since I've decided to start graduate school in the fall, while working full time. I need my head examined. Lately though, I've been kind of down because even though I see the numbers on the scale going down, I don't see much change in myself. My mom tells me I'm crazy routinely. Part of it has to do with the fact that while I am losing weight, my boobs have not gotten smaller. It's making it really hard to fit into clothes because XL fits my boobs, but no where else. So either I look like a slob or a hooker. This gets better, I promise. I had a tiny fill yesterday, and my mom could see I was not in a good mood. So she drags out these jeans that she swears will fit me. They were a size 16. Well these must be some Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants friggen magic jeans, because lo and behold I didn't even have to struggle into them. I almost cried I was so happy. Yes, they are stretch-ish and yes, they are not the slim-est of cuts (they're actually "Not Your Daughter's Jeans", if that means anything to you). But they were a size 16. I can't remember the last time I was a size 16. Probably 8 years ago. I still wear a size 18 in majority of pants, and I'm still rocking size XL clothes (thanks boobs). But I have one pair of super flattering jeans that say size 16 on them.

Hi Roxy, There are a couple of things that could have led to your plateau. First, when was the last time you had a fill? It sounds to me like you might need an adjustment. I would schedule a fill ASAP. Even if its a small one, it might be what you need to push yourself over the edge and starting losing weight again. Also, I know weight watchers is a great tool to follow - my mom and sister both do it, and so half the time I end up eating the same things they eat. Just be careful if you are eating a lot of those weight watchers meals - they are loaded in sodium and can cause you to retain lots of Water - they are great in a pinch, but definitely not good for every day. Make sure you are drinking lots of water and eating Protein, especially while you are working out. Make sure you're not ingesting "liquid calories" like juice, sugary drinks, or ice cream in large quantities. I know I have juice for Breakfast usually, but otherwise its water and crystal light for me. If all else fails, call your doctor. There might be something more serious going on, but I suspect its one of those things. Keep up the good work and stay positive

Hey Everyone, So I am sure you have seen some of the other challenges people have posted around here. I decided the February 09 bandsters need something to liven up our section! I am challenging myself to lose 20 lbs by July 4th. Anyone else who wants to join me, please do! Copy the list below and add yourself to it. I'll check in and fix it up if people seem to be left out, but try and add yourself to the most current list! Anyone is welcome to join, not just the Feb's. Name...........Start Lbs......Current..........Goal.......To Go Laurr925..........240...............240...............220........20

Hey! So I didn't make my goal either but I am pretty excited that I have made it down to 229 lbs, and have lost 56 lbs total! I am starting to exercise more, which I think will help push me toward meeting my goals more efficiently. Debbie - thanks for the positive thoughts. Things have mostly calmed down, minus one really bad sinus infection that threw me out of commission for two weeks last month and I'm still playing catch up from.

looking good everyone! -
I struggled with who to tell and who not to tell for a while. I decided that while I wasn't going to run through the streets screaming it, I couldn't exactly hide it forever. As of now I have told majority of my family, a few friends, and my boss. I haven't told many of my friends yet because I don't see them too often and I don't think its necessary for them to know because it would just lead to a lot of questions that I honestly don't feel like explaining to them. Tell who you want, when you want - there is no right or wrong way. If you want to keep it a secret from people, there's no need to tell them. If you had an IUD you wouldn't necessarily tell everyone, and I feel the same way about my band.

Its great to hear everyone is doing so well. I am down 51lbs and I have to say I feel great, I LOVE buying new clothes, and people are really starting to notice the changes. I have had four fills since the surgery (not counting the first fill they put the band in with) and the last one I think I have hit my limit so I am hoping my weight loss will speed up a bit from here. -

Considering the Lap Band and Have a Question
laurr925 replied to deed87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i waited until after college to have the surgery because i was afraid of the affect it was going to have on my social life. meanwhile, my social life probably would have been better if i lost weight during college. its a double edged sword. either way though you are going to have fun and get healthy, so id say make the right decision. i had surgery and i still go out and have fun, i just dont drink like i used to (or eat, obviously). but that means no more beer bongs or chugging contests or rum and cokes. -
Hey all, I'm relatively new here, but I had a question for people around my age. I'm 22, and I don't see my friends very often because we live all around the country. I will be having surgery in less than a month, and I know once I start losing weight, everyone is going to be curious how. A lot of people I know from college only know me as fat, and I know that when I ultimately see them this summer at the reunions we always have, they are going to ask me a million questions. I don't necessarily want all of my friends to know about the surgery, certainly, some of them will figure it out and the ones closest to me already know. I have some friends who are extremely opinionated, and I was wondering if anyone has had to deal with a similar situation and how they handled it? Any suggestions/advice would be really appreciated!

everyone looks amazing! thank goodness for this site.. ive been having a rough two weeks due mostly to the fact that i am due for a fill on monday and i have been so damn hungry and trying not to eat everything thats bad, so my progress has slowed.. (although today i am feeling especially tight, weird) these pictures remind me what my goals are so thanks everyone for posting  -

"Shrinko De Mayo" Weight Loss Challenge
laurr925 replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
somehow my digital scale broke so i had to use the other one this morning. at any rate, i lost 2lbs this week bringing my grand total up to 8lbs  yay -
so this morning i was getting dressed, and i pulled out my last pair of size 22 pants that hadn't fallen off of me yet. i took one step, and tripped over them. they fell off. i am officially a size 20 now. feels sooooo good to say! so i am putting all my size 22 and larger pants in a bag never to be looked at again!

good luck and welcome!!

haha jane you are too funny! congrats on your NSV! and please, were young, go out and make crazy decisions, life is more fun that way. so if you want to flirt with "big buff silly guys" dont even think twice about it!

Yeah, I understand. Calling BCBS was a PAIN. I called them quite a few times until I got someone competent, but they aren't bad because it didn't take long for me to be approved and since they deem WLS "medically necessary" they are really nice about everything once you are approved. Go to the seminar, and see how you feel about things. It's about 2 hours and it really solidified the idea for me so it may help you make a decision one way or another.
