11cc Bronto-band: Does it EVER Fill Up?
MarcyD replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have an 11 cc band, also. My doc is very conservative and only gives fills every 3 to 4 months. Not until I had my fourth fill (at about 8 cc's) did I achieve restriction. Hang in there! It is worth the wait and better not to chance a slip. -
Hi guys! I have been missing a long time--Mostly because I have been down about my slow progress. My last fill (#4) seems to have helped. I was stuck in the 280's forever, but finally have some pretty good restriction and have lost almost 20 pounds in the last 7 weeks! Yeah!! Katie, I hear you. My fill doc is pretty conservative and only gives fills every 2 to 3 months. (Plus they are busy, so it is hard to get in.) I am self-pay and they do all their fills with fluoro, so this has been expensive as well as slow. I am scheduled for another fill June 13th. I think I will only need a small one this time. Life is really so much less frustrating when you finally get restriction!

I haven't been around much lately and haven't noticed your posts before. Congrats on getting a date and good luck on your journey! I hope to *see* you around more. Unfortunately, I am only here sporadically when I get a free moment at work.

I am so glad I found this thread! I have missed all of you. Today is my Bandiversary and I am down "only" 60 pounds. I am happy, though, as I was stuck at 40 for about 5 months. I finally have pretty good restriction and feel a lot more energetic. I have been working out at Curves and doing the treadmill and actually feel GOOD after exercise!!! Here's to an even better second year and congrats to all my fellow Maysters who have done such a great job. You all inspire and encourage me so much.

I didn't reach really good restriction until my 4th fill 6 weeks ago. Hang in there and practice good habits. Get another fill as soon as your urgeon allows. The weigh WILL come off!

Welcome to LBT! And congrats on your early weight loss.

JulieNYC's Extended Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift
MarcyD replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Julie, as so many others have said, you are truly an inspiration to me. I will keep you in my thoughts for a speedy recovery. Keep us posted! -
Happy thoughts and good vibes coming your way, Carlene! You can do this. Come here to vent (and keep us posted because we are concerned!)

I am completely self-pay. My fills are $250 plus $119 for Flouro. Yup: $369 a pop! They have always gone smoothly, though, and after 4 fills I am finally at good restriction.

Until my 4th fill I was a "slow loser" and could eat about anything, including a Wendy's cheeseburger. Now I PB if I eat bread or pizza. Yesterday, though, I had 3/4 of a burger at Chillis without the bread and has sauteed veggies instead of fries. Not the same, but at least I could taste a burger for a change. I sometimes miss "the old days", but now that I am finally at really good restriction and losing, I wouldn't go back for anything. I was self-pay and finally feel like I am getting my money's worth. Juliegeraci, I feel like we are on the same path! I have noted the similarities in our posts. Seems like we both finally hit good restricition at the same time. Good luck!

Way to go, LapBandit!!!! You inspire me to keep trecking!

Congratulations! You are really on your way now!

My doctor is VERY conservative with fills. I didn't have my first fill until 8 weeks post-op and after 10 months just had my 4th fill. I now have about 8 cc in a 10 cc band and FINALLY have really good restriction!! I was stuck at minus 40 pounds for about 5 months and now the weight is just falling off. All along I have been jealous of those who were "tight" and losing more weight, but now I am happy. No complications so far and losing weight and not being hungry. You really will get there, but it may take a while. Just do your best to make healthy choices and forgive yourself when you mess up. We are all in this together!

Congratulations, Hellbus! Good luck with your last few pounds.

I have seen lots of posts re: WW over the past year. I haven't done it, but think it's a wonderful program. I have Nutrisystem on and off since before my banding. Now that I have FINALLY achieved the right restriction, I find that I have trouble finishing a NS meal. My tastes have changed a lot, though, so I don't like a lot of the food I ordered a year ago. Oh well! At least their meals are high in Protein and fairly low in carbs. They also tend to be a bit saucy or have a lot of gravy, so they go down okay if you are restricted by your band. Just thought you might like another idea. I am not someone who likes going to meetings and weigh-ins and NS has a support board that is really helpful. A lot like LBT! LOL! Can't wait to see what others post.

Good luck to you on your banding. Here's to a speedy recovery and smooth weight loss journey!

Congratulations!:clap2:

Thank God you were not slipped! Try eating small frequent meals and drinking a lot between meals and see if that helps with the ravenous feeling and urge to eat quickly. You CAN do this! Good luck and keep us posted!

Sorry to hear you are struggling with MRSA. I wish you all the best.
-
My nurse practitioner (who does my fills under fluoro) says "anything you can get through a straw for 24 hours, then just be careful." Usually goes pretty well. Good luck!
-
So glad to hear you're not slipped! Hope you are feeling back to your old self and get back on track soon.
-
Marz, I am so sorry for this tragic loss and will be thinking of you and praying for your nephew. Hugs,

Puddin, you are such an encouragement to me. I, too, lost only 40 pounds in the first 6 months and then hit a 2 month plateau. I have started losing again in the last 2 weeks after getting off my butt and exercising and watching what I eat instead of eating what I can. You are right on the money. I am hoping to be as successful as you! Hope the healing keeps going well.

Nice going!:clap2:
