Happy Day in Oklahoma
MarcyD replied to misschrissie67's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, Chrissie! I wish you luck on your weight loss journey. -
How about sugar-free chocolate pudding or even just sugar-free chocolate syrup? I think chocolate has a *thicker* taste and covers the nasties a little better. Good luck!

I'm in Harrisonburg, in the Shenandoah Valley.

Leener, I just wanted to offer my support. I hope your fill comes through quickly, even though it's not with the doc you wanted. It took 8 weeks for me to get a fill and know how tough Bandster Hell is. You obviously are a great person--That comes through in your posts. If your BF's family has any sense, they will see that. Thanks for putting a little more cowbell in my life!

What a great story and even better job at losing weight! Keep up the good work.:clap2:

Come on, Julie! I am waiting for you here! Frankly, it didn't occur to me to get a present. Maybe if I hit my September goal. It's a tough one, but I'll try. Wheetsin, you ROCK!! I can only dream of doing so well.

The same thing happened to me at about 4 or 5 weeks from surgery. I was sure something was wrong with my band. But I finally went for my first fill this week (Took forever to get an appt!) and the band was fine. She gave me a 3 cc fill in a 11 cc band and I have a little restriction, though still feel like I could eat a lot if I wanted to. It IS helping me stay full longer, though, so I am hopeful. I have set my goals high (er, LOW) and I really want to make it! Good luck!!! Hope Bandster Hell is over for you quickly!

I have had a similar issue with bacon. I used to love bacon and now the very sight of it almost makes me sick. Seems like it must be psychological, but I don't mind. Bacon sure won't help my weight loss journey much!

ousooner, what a great NSV!! Congrats and keep up the good work!:clap2: :clap2:

WhooHoo! 297 this morning! Three pounds overnight!! I am so excited! Julie-NYC, the cute guard is on my lap right now! Lapbandit, you are an inspiration. Keep up the good work.

I made it to Twoterville today! The scale read 297. I love seeing that TWO! I am still adjusting to my first fill two days ago and have been on liquids, thus the weight loss. I hope this works. I am so tired of being hungry!
-
The scale today read 300.0! I have my passport in hand and I am ready to cross the border to Twoterville! I hope I get frisked by some cute security guard. Hehe!

I think Myra has a good point. I am diabetic and your symptoms remind me of my low blood sugar episodes. Hope you are feeling better soon. Be careful not to dehydrate in the heat!

I adore Christmas!!! I would llike to be half-way to my goal by then-- 250 pounds. I better get crackin'! I bought a new scale and have adjusted my start and current weights accordingly. It seems more reliable than my old scale. July 18th 300/ C 300/ G 250

I have my first fill scheduled tomorrow at noon. It will be done under fluoro, so I will be drinking barium for lunch! YUM!!! (Not!) I am hoping for some good restriction, too, as I have put back on a few pounds. Yikes!
-
Diane, my prayers are with you and the doctors that will be caring for you. God bless, girlfriend.

Tired of feeling sorry for myself - hit the gym today

Good for you for doing something positive!! I have not had a fill yet and am really feeling the LACK of restriction. I will get my first fill on the 18th. (Long story about the wait--I will spare you the details!) I was just thinking about having a cheeseburger for dinner and you have inspired me to go back to the band rules I was following after surgery when I had restriction from the post-op swelling. I will make a better choice tonight instead. Good journeys to all of us!! -
Paula, I am sorry you are having so much difficulty. I don't believe Lapband surgery can cause a hiatal hernia, but if you have one it can be difficult to place the band correctly. This may be why you are having so much trouble. My surgeon had me evaluated for ulcers and hiatal hernia before he would do my band. By the way,my mother (who is also wonderful and obese) has one, too. I think there is a slight genetic component. Good luck to you!

Did you lose weight before your first fill?
MarcyD replied to sleepyjean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am dying here in Bandster Hell waiting for my first fill. I lost 29 pounds in the first 6 weeks, but now have gained 3 back as my hunger has returned big time. Struggling with willpower while I wait for my fill.... -
What a fun NSV!!! I look forward to that!

Welcome to LBT! Good luck on your journey.

I have been banded 7 weeks today. At my 4 week post-op check, my surgeon didn't want to do a fill since I was losing so well (26 pounds.) Since then, I have less and less restriction and more and more hunger and I have lost 3 pounds and now gained four!!! I need a fill so badly!! So what's the problem? The nurse practitioner is the one who does fills and she is out this week. I can't get another day off until July 14th and then I have to hope she will fit me in. (I won't even get a call to be scheduled until she is back in town next week!) Help!! I feel like I am getting fatter by the second! :help:

Thanks Natural Beauty. I needed that encouragement today!

Post-op diet: how long did you do liquids?
MarcyD replied to brittu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon does *blenderized* foods the very next day after surgery and for 2 to three weeks afterward. Then 2 weeks of soft foods (mushies) and at 4 weeks on to solid foods. I followed this and did well. I think he is more liberal than most, though. -
Band has slipped or moved...Feeling sad
MarcyD replied to Cynthia J.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am sorry to hear this has happened. I am self-pay and this sort of thing really scares me. I hope they can easily fix it. Try looking at it this way, at least there is a fixable reason for your slow weight loss. Maybe that will give you some hope for the road ahead. Good luck!
