  1. Hi everyone! Just checiking in. I am down 2 pounds for the Turkey take-off. It's a start anyway. I guess my 2nd fill has given me some restriction, as I had my first PB this weekend. I have to remember to chew better and pay attention when I eat. I was getting away with being lax about it before. My third fill is already scheduled for November 21st--Right before Thanksgiving!!! Guess I won't be eating much for the holiday. LOL! That's really ok with me. Drewslou, you look great. I can't wait to get into a size 16. Can you see my jealousy from there? :biggrin1: BTW, I love your new avatar! Myra, I am impressed with your pursuit of dental health. I am going to the dentist next week after not being there in 6 years. Naughty, I know. Especially since I am diabetic and oral health is important. You are my inspiration.:clap2:

3 months post op & discouraged!!

I understand your frustration and your fears. I lost 26 pounds in the 4 weeks post-op before my first fill and then gained back about 8 before my fill. Lost again and then started to gain before my second fill. I am wondering if this is a pattern for me. I am a lot tighter after this second fill, though and I am pleased with my progress overall. People can notice the difference and I feel much better. One thing that people consistently say is that I look "healthy". I think slower weight loss is healthier even if it is more frustrating. Start exercising and look at the big picture. You are doing quite well.
  5. Carol, I am cracking up at the image of you standing there trying to see your hootchie over your apron! LOL! I needed that today.:omg:

OK I need help-I finally Quit.

Good for you, Seppi!! You can do this and your band will help you with the weight. Come here to vent when the urges get too strong.
  7. Just had my second fill this past Tuesday and did my 24 hours of liquids and 24 of mushies as instructed. I had no probs moving on to solids, including about a cup of "Oodles of Noodles." Just when I was getting certain that this fill wasn't gonna be enough either... BAM! My first PB!!! :omg: Didn't chew the chicken well enough. Oh well, now I no longer feel like a band virgin. I think I have learned my lesson. On a good note, though: I hit the 40 pound mark today! :clap2:

My not so happy Lap Banding

I hope your recovery is quick and your weight loss journey is full of good health from now on.

    hoping for surgery

Welcome, Kimmi! I think all of your feelings are very normal and something most of us can relate to. We have all been there. Do some soul-searching and be honest with yourself about your fears. Then read, read, read all you can to arm yourself with information. Good luck on your journey!
  10. It is so good to come across this thread. I have missed all my May peeps. Marci-Congratulations on your new DIL! The new couple looks very sweet. Myra- Hooray for the dental work! I can't wait to hear your progress and eventually see a pic of your new (skinnier) smile. LapBandit1- Welcome! Janey-Hope this fill works for you. I just had my second fill and am at 6 cc in an 11cc band. I didn't quite make my September goal of 285, but was 288 this morning, so I am close. I want to join the 20 lb Thanksgiving challenge. My goal will be 268. Hmm..If I am going to be that much of an optimist, I better change my Christmas goal, too. Better change my signature!

    My cry for help

I am so sorry for all you are going through. You should be so proud of the success you have had so far. I agree that a little unfill may be in order. I am in Virginia, so no help with finding a doc, but please keep us posted and vent here as much as possible. Hugs,

    Meds that we can take

I swallow all my pills whole. Most are pretty small, but 2 are capsules. I just had my second fill yesterday and felt pretty "full" after taking my meds this am, but no big probs so far. When I am really hurting Tylenol doesn't cut it for me, so I take ibuprofen. I just try not to do it too often, as it isn't good for my kidneys. (Diabetic kidney disease.)

Post Op Exercise - how soon?

My doc said I could do whatever I felt like at 4 weeks. Go slowly!
  14. This spitting talk is grossing me out! I just had my second fill yesterday and am a little queasy with my morning meds and coffee. I am trying to sip Water slowly and hoping not to become a "spitter" soon myself!:speechles
  15. Hang in there, Candy. I sufffered through Bandster Hell for about a month and gained back about 5 or 6 pounds before getting my first fill at 8 weeks. Keep TRYING to make good choices and don't get discouraged. We are in this for the long haul, that is why we didn't choose RNY. I like to think of it as the stock market: There will be losses and gains, but it is still progress if the trend is in the right direction. My best advice- Try hard to stay away from carbs. I find that the more carbs I eat, the more I crave them. Good luck!

    Silly NSV

LOL! I love it! All these NSV's count toward our new life.
  17. I have the 11 cc band also. Just went today for my second fill of 3cc for a total of 6cc. I am hoping this gives me good restriction for awhile. My weight loss has stalled again and I have even gained back a few pounds. I am on liquids now since my fill. We'll see how the next few days go.
  18. I am sorry for your tough news. You must be having a lot of pain. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you find some happiness on your birthday anyway.

Increase Your Chances of a Good Fill

My first fill, like the surgery itself, gave me some restriction for about a month and now I am right back to lots of hunger and eating more. I go for my 2nd fill on Tuesday and am hoping for some better restriction. Right now I have only 3 cc in an 11 cc band.

So thankful I found this site!!!!

Welcome to LBT! I think it's great that your hypothyroidism was discovered now. I bet you will see great improvement in your stamina and weight loss efforts. I am also one of those people who told everyone. I wanted people looking so I would have some accountability. I have found a lot of community support by doing so. Even when I have slipped up, I have seen no one acting judgemental toward me. Go with your gut.

One year old and Yeah Baby!

Congratulations on a job well-done! I see you are almost at goal. I hope I can look back on my one-year bandiversary and say the same.

    How dare she!!!

Jojo, I am so glad this was resolved to your satisfaction and that you have the voucher. It was the least they could do.
  23. I had my first fill at about 8 weeks out and really needed it by then, as my initial restriction left rather suddenly and I started gaining. The same thing is happening now and I go for my second fill next week. I would like to be tighter and more aggressive with fills, but now I am coming around to my doctor's way of thinking and like the idea of sneaking up on that sweet spot. Slow weight loss seems to be less of a shock to your body and I really don't want my hair falling out, etc. Is it hard to schedule fills for you? If not, I suggest you wait until you "need" one and then go for it. Sounds like you are doing well so far, so why fix what isn't broken! And don't worry about the fill procedure--It really doesn't hurt and is kind of an interesting experience.

    I am so devastated!

I am so sorry this is happening to you. Please keep us posted.

    Diagnosed as diabetic---NOW WHAT?

I have been diabetic for over twenty years and was poorly-controlled prior to my lapband surgery. Getting my diabetes under control was one of the main indications for surgery, as losing weight helps manage things a great deal. Good luck and let me know if I can answer any questions!
