    Note to self ...

... just because you managed to eat some of that curry and rice last night with no problems, does not mean the same will apply the following morning  Serves me right for straying off the path I suppose ...

Sort of like a sleeve gastrectomy then steve? Only a much less invasive procedure. Do you have any links? Sounds interesting :lunch:

    Breathing tube

You definitely had one during your previous surgeries. And, as you have experienced those times, you won't know anything about it.

    Vile.

Luckily, I've never been a fan of "beige food". I got fat on good, wholesome food - lots of it! That putrid muck would be what my partner's 19year old would live on ... if he was allowed to. :scared2:

  10. Hi Benedict

    Love your writing.

Just a heads up - the link to your website doesn't work because it is missing the second "e" in "benedict". (I found the site is spite of this and was very impressed ... )

    Hematoma near port site?

I was banded on 31st Jan and have a haematoma just above my port. I queried it and was told by the nurse it would "get absorbed by the body in time". I even sent photos to my surgeon who said, although unusual, he wasn't worried about it. Yesterday I had my first fill. A different consultant did the fill and examined the haematoma, making sure it wasn't a hernia. He said he wasn't concerned and that, as the nurse had said, it would be reabsorbed by the body - in time. I will keep an eye on it and see what happens. Here is a pic of my lump!
  12. This reminds me of that episode of "King Of Queens", where Doug lost weight. Suddenly the whole dynamic of the relationship shifted and Carries was NOT happy. She had always been "the hot one" and Doug had always been grateful that she stayed with him - what with his having a weight problem. Now, women were flirting with him and he was getting attention from everyone, commenting on his achievement and buff new bod. Carrie tried to sabotage his diet by tempting him with high calorie food that, previously, Doug had enjoyed and which had contributed to his weight gain. Though the comedy of the situation was highlighted, I actually found the way Carrie acted very nasty and passive aggressive. Yea I know it is just a show, but this goes on all the time in real life, with partners showing their insecurities when the other partner loses weight. Not with everyone, but some partners display this behaviour, as witnessed by this thread.

    is this Bandster "Hell"

And that is where I am right now, with over two weeks until my first fill.

    Should I be this hungry?

I'm in the same boat as you Shelincali. Banded 31st Jan and so hungry could eat a scabby pig. :tt2: Unlike you though, I only lost 11lbs including my pre-op week. However, I see that I have gained 4lbs of that back this last week. Great. :tt2:

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

I started off laughing at the things posted to this thread. Now ... I am depressed

    Don't look if squeamish!

I asked my surgeon if I could have a photo of my "insides" during surgery. I find it fascinating that this is me! Top left of the photo is my liver, with the band - as yet "unclasped" - around the top of my stomach. I was shocked to see the fat around my stomach - don't know why really, that's why I had the op :cursing:

When is support not really support?

Well, I'm a newbie and I'm enjoying it! It's not as if anyone here is knocking the band and how it works/doesn't work. Those are the threads that worry the newbies (in my experience). This is just a good old fashioned scrap :scared2:

What FINALLY made you decide to get banded??

I am so sorry for your great loss.

Band date 31st Jan 2009 Shaw Somers Chichester

Wendy! Feeling back to normal now really. Missing textured food and sick of blended soups, so ate some mash and cheese yesterday. Anyway, check out my scar pictures 7 days post-op. Must be nuts showing off my swollen belly, but can only get better from now on

Band date 31st Jan 2009 Shaw Somers Chichester

Wow! I am bored of liquids after only a week! And I am allowed full Soups and liquidised stuff, so shouldn't complain really! Just miss those textures so much. Thanks for your continuing support Maincat

    Don't look if squeamish!

Unfortunately, that is the only one I have. When I asked Shaw if he would take a print off the monitor, he said he thought the printer was broken, but that he would use his own mobile phone instead. I was pleased as I thought he could take more pics, including some of me on the table whilst he operated on me. Alas, the printer was working so he just took that one shot. Glad I've got it though. How rare to see one's own "insides" :cursing:
