  1. Onehotmomma, I guess the only thing different between you and me is your female and I am male. My journey started at 273, I was 268 on day of surg. and I was banded on 12/29/08. I have already had 1 fill of 2cc's and I go back tomorrow for what will probably be another 1cc. I realize it is a slow process and according to my doctor, they only expect 1 lb per week. I am down 30 so far to date, I have had to change my belt size, and am down a size in my pants. I think I'm losing my butt first. LOL. I just get frustrated with myself when I have to eat more than they tell me I should be able to handle. At this point post op, my meals should only be 4 to 6 oz. Thats a joke. Granted, I dont eat as much as I use to but sometimes I feel it is awfully close. We'll just keep on keepin on and hopefully everything will come together.
  2. I am 2 months post op now. I am down around 30lbs. But over the last few weeks, I am not seeing my lbs drop and I have actually saw it go up about 3 lbs only to eventually come back down a couple. My meals are much more than what I should be able to get down. I have had one fill. 2cc's is all he put in and I was told he would never put anymore than 1cc at a time from here on out. However, when I start to eat, after the first bite or two, I just got to put my fork down and wait for a few minutes till the food gets down and after that I am generally ok to finish eating. I go back to the doctor Mar. 5th and I can get another fill if I fill like I need it. I really do think I need more restriction but even as it is right now, as I said, the first couple bites dont really go down smooth but after the initial shock of the first couple bites, it all goes down ok and I find myself eating to much to get filled. My body feels like I am still just as big as before banding. I'm just disgusted right now.
  3. I want to feel like I am but that could be what is going on. I really keep it in my mind everytime I start to eat. I do notice that the more moist the food the better it goes in the first couple bites. However, I have a hard time getting chicken moist on the george foreman. It is not a problem with every meal I eat but it is for the majority of them and I want to feel I am very concsious of it when I start but maybe I do need a few more chews. My biggest problem as far as I am concerned is the fact that it still takes me way more food to get me to satisfaction than what I feel like it should take. Hope to remedy this come thursday. Thanks for all the post and keep them coming.

    Help i need coffee!!

It is good to hear the healing is going well for you. I hear so many complaints from others how bad they are doing with it. I have been banded for 4 weeks now and I have had no problems at all. So much that until I went to see my surgeon a week after surgery I had to ask if everything is alright because I just did not expect to feel so good so soon after surgery. Yes, I had a little strain around my port area when I got up, coughed, laughed etc. but it was really nothing compared to what I thought I was going to have. I just feel physically great and have really all along the way. Have only lost the 20 and I blame myself for that because I feel I eat to much but I get filled next week.

    Help i need coffee!!

Just as long as it is de-caf is what I was told. I have been totally without any caf. for the whole 4 weeks. I know it affects different people differently but I have done just fine without it.
  6. I was released to work with no restrictions exactly 3 weeks after surgery. I feel great, feel like I can do whatever I want and I assume since he told me I can go back with no restrictions that I can do whatever workouts don't hurt me. I work in a factory so I do some heavy lifting also. The biggest problem is the eating. I feel like I eat, no, let me rephrase that, I know I am eating much more than I am suppose to eat at this stage and this really bothers me. I am 4 weeks post now and I am down 20lbs but I am just always hungry. Get that first fill next week so hopefully that will get me in line.

    Help i need coffee!!

Oh my. I drank anywhere from 3 cups up to 6 cup of coffee per day for the last 25yrs. I was banded on 12/29/08 and have not had a cup since until today. I went to store this morning and bought de-caf and I am on my first cup as I write. I drank alot of diet pepsi all my life also. But after my surgery, I have just not had any cravings at all for either. I only bought this de-caf because I seen it was on sale this morning so I decided to come home and fix me a pot. I wish these were my only problems though. I have had no problem with the surgery at all and I have lost about 20lbs since having it. But, I still am able to eat much more than I am suppose to have with no problem at all. Of course I am not eating nor do I think I could if I wanted to eat as much as I did before banding but I know I am eating much much more than what I should be. I am looking forward to my first fill next week. Hopefully that will get me on track and start really losing. Good luck with your coffee craving. Just think of it as mind over matter. Ha.
  8. I am glad to know I am not the only one feeling hunger pains etc. I have been banded 3 weeks now. I never have the fullness sensation unless I eat to much. I was told that all I would be able to get down in the first few weeks is 2oz. per meal because that is all the size of my stomach. I have lost a total of 18lbs. since my surgery but I am also finding myself eating much more at meal times than I am suppose to eat. I have had no trouble getting anything down or stuck. This is what bothers me. If my stomach wont hold any more than what I was told it would hold, then why am I able to eat so much. Yes, there are times when I am so hungry that I do eat quite a bit. Example, today I at a cheese omelet from IHOP. I ate the whole thing! I left feeling totaly satisfied, but I am also disgusted with myself for eating so much. But, how was I able to hold all of it? I know I am not eating nothing near what I use to eat before the band but I am eating more that I should now after the band. I feel great, no pains, feel like I can do anything I want to do and I really have always felt that way since coming home from surgery. My next appt is Feb 5th and my doctor said we will go from there. He did say he generally dont go anymore thatn 3cc at a time. Maybe I worry more than I should, I dont know. I worry about will I know if my band has slipped that is allowing me to eat more than I should be able to eat? I am getting all my protein daily at a min. 75g. Anyone with the same feeling as me that can encourage me would be very much appreciated. I am just feeling like I am the one doing wrong here in which I may be by eating to much. But when you are starved, what is a man suppose to do?
  9. Hello. I am new here. I have read alot of post and some good stories. I had my lap band on 12/29/08. I am 8 days post now and everything just seems to be to good to be true. No pain, no sickness, and full of energy. However, I still seem to stay hungry. I have pretty much stuck to the diet I am to be on including getting all my protein. I just dont understand if I have a 2 oz. pouch, then why after eating 2oz. do I not feel this fullness sensation. I have actually ate 6 oz. of food in one meal I am ashamed to say. It was cottage cheese and a sugar free jello pudding cup. According to my scales I am down about 17lbs. in the first 8 days, but I just dont understand this being hungry all the time. Anyone have the same feeling as me and still feel great?
