  1. How did everything turn out? It sounds exciting. I would love to hear how everything went and see pictures. I am hoping to have the same procedure.
  2. Thanks Ladies. I started a jounal a few days ago. I thought I would give that a try. I have an appt. to see my doctor next month. I am afraid of getting another fill though. The last fill was too tight and I live 2 1/2 hours away. I don't want to go thru that again, but I want to stay on track. My other worry is that I may be at my limit already. I have a 10cc band and I have 9.7cc in already. I am not sure how that works. When I asked at the beginning I was told I would always be able to get fills. Where does it go? Does it evaporate? That my be a stupid question, but I can't imagine how I can continue to get fills. I was pleased with that answer when I asked before surgery. After having my band to tight and not being able to just go back to have it removed I am now questioning it. How does the doctor know if it is full? I would like to know so that I could ask and not have to come back home before I know if it is to full. Also, I will be so disappointed if this is as far as I can go with fills. I'm not ready to lose the help of the band. Moving on... I am a carb and sweet eater so that may be why I have such a hard time with getting enough Protein. I crave what I can't have... I like cheese, chicken, turkey, and most all vegetables. I struggle with the protien supplements. Struggle as in I can't make myself use them. I keep trying and I keep wasting my money. Any suggestion would be appreciated. High protien foods and anything that would curb a sweet craving.
  3. Hi. I am a mother of 3 girls ages 15, 10 & 10. I have a wonderful husband (soon to be 18 year anniversay) who never has to worry about his weight and LOVES to exercise!! I on the other hand have to always worry about what I eat and HATE to exercise. I was banded 3-6-09. I started out at 279lbs and I am currently at 197lbs. I have not lost any weight in months. I would love to lose 47lbs. and keep it off. I have a problems coming up with foods that I can eat that I like. I understand that I need to eat foods that are not as tasty as I would like, but my problems is that I can't MAKE myself drink the Protein drinks. I SO thought I would be able to once I had the surgery, but I can't seem to do it. I try to eat foods high in protein, but I don't get enough because I stay hungry. I have started eating slider foods and I am so disappointed in myself. I would love some support from others who have had the same problems and overcame them. I felt that I had really researched the band before I had the surgery and yet I find I still have questions. If anyone would like to be my buddy/mentor or just want to share some recipes I would love your help. Thanks:blushing:

    I'm here to help...

Hi IndioGirl55. I would love for you to be my buddy. You look wonderful and it sounds like you are on track to keeping your weight loss successful! I am 38 years old and married with 3 children. I live in Valley, Alabama. I had my band 3-6-09 with a starting weight of 279. I am currently at 196. I have so many questions. I feel I have a long way to go and would love your advice.

    When is the band full?

When is a band full? I had my band 3-6-09. My starting weight was 279 and my current weight is 196. I have a 10cc band and I have had 6 fills. I have been keeping track of my fills and either I have done it wrong or something is not right. I have a 10cc band. But I have had 10.7cc in fills. I was told that I would always (over the years) be able to get fills. Where does it go? Does it just evaporate? My last fill in May 2010 was 2cc. For the first time, it was too tight. I had to have 1cc taken out 3 days later, which puts me at 9.7cc. I could not even swallow a sip of Water before I had some taken out. I felt awful and had to make a 2 ½ hour drive feeling bad and very weak. I was still left with an extra 1cc for that visit, yet I was more hungry than before and able to eat more. Now I am worried that my band is full and I can’t handle anymore fills, but I have a lot more to lose and still need that lifelong help that the band gives me. I have an appointment to go see my doctor (2 ½ hours away) and I want to get a fill, but not if I am going to be miserable. I can’t just drive 20 or 30 minutes to have it taken out. Is there a way to know if my band it full or if I can have another fill? I have heard that you can have an x-ray. Does that help? Has anyone else been through this?

I may have made a bad decision

Are you able to keep liquids down? If so then definitely go to just liquids for now. You may just need to give the swelling time to go down. If you are having a problem with liquids then you may need to have some taken out. Some signs that you are to tight would be burping, hiccups and acid reflux. I have the same problem as you. I am 2 ½ hours away from my doctor. I have always handles my fills well until the last one and I was VERY uncomfortable for 2 days. I had to drive back feeling very weak and sick to have some removed. I immediately felt great. It shocked me, but told me that is was too tight. Believe me I understand not wanting to waste a trip if you just need time to adjust. You should call your doctor and talk with him about it. Hope you get everything worked out soon.

    best news ever!!!!

How wonderful. Keep up the good work.
  9. Hi everyone. I was banded 3-6-9 and have lost 83lbs. I still need to lose 50lbs and learn what I need to keep the weight off. I am facing the same problems. I keep trying to eat foods high in Protein, yet I stay hungry. I will go for the foods that make me feel like I am actually "eating" something. I would LOVE some really good recipes that are high in protein and support to help me continue to try and make this life long change for a healthier me. I don't understand why most days you can't eat much and then you have a day where everything go down easy. Does anyone else have this happen?
  10. Hi Zannie. You are doing a great job. I would love to have your recipe for your latte. It sounds great. Would you mind sharing?

  12. I did not have to do this for the LAP-BAND® since I paid cash but when I wanted to get the gastric bypass, my insurance company made me go through this. They want to see if you can lose weight the conventional way before they approve your surgery. Helen Did you have gastric bypass and lapband? Which one did you have first? What happened?
  13. This is my first time ever to post and I am trying to figure this out, so if I post this twice, sorry. I am also waiting for insurance approval. I actually went to my seminar class Dec. 1, 2007. Over a year later, I still don't have an approval. I have had to stress echo, sleep study, psyche evaluation, and have just finished my 6 months doctor supervised visits. After all this I am now waiting to see if Blue Cross of Georgia will approve the surgery. My fingers are crossed. I also have put on a lot of weight while waiting to hear. I am afraid that I will not be approved and have to start all over again. Wish me luck. Hopefully I'll be able to share my story with you soon.
