I am one week post-op and walking 10 minutes a day...trying to walk more, but without liquid Loritab, couldn't walk 10 min... Had cream of asparagus soup for lunch today. Wow! Delicious! Taking one day at a time; the hunger is steadily increasing. Have a good day, all!

I had surgery Dec. 11 to be rebanded.Food has always been my comfort and I miss it terribly. But for one month prior to band removal I felt good about myself. I so want that feeling again. My prayer is just that the band doesn't slip again and I can once again reach my goal weight. This past year has been a rollercoaster of emotions. Most of the people say I'm crazy for doing this again, but I had rather feel good about myself than win the lottery. Hang in there! I know I'm hanging by a thread, but maybe this time the thread won't "slip."

My surgery is Friday, and I have liquids with laxative on Thursday. Hope I'm not doing this wrong. I certainly want this surgery to work. I had the band removed after a year this past April. ( slippage) Anyone who has been given advice to prevent slippage, please let me know. I tried so hard to do everything the first time. Wish me luck! DDee

Hi, folks! I haven't posted in awhile. I've been unbanded since March 2006; had a scope done in Sept. to check stomach/esophagus for potential rebanding; and go in this Fri. for hiatal hernia repair and rebanding! Please say a prayer for me. With God's help, this time I'll be without band slippage. Thanks for any input. DDee

Your story is so like mine!! I was unbanded April 2006 due to slippage. The surgeon said that I am lucky to be alive. My stomach was completely cut off from any blood flow. I too have gained 27 lbs. -- since April!!! I am so depressed! Glad to fit in my fatter clothes but don't know how long before a new size needs to be bought. I'm gaining 3 lbs a week now. I teach school and eat in a lunchroom with 200 loud teens. I am an emotional eater... well, you know the rest of that story...what to do, what to do...I am miserable. DDEE

Pam, I think you're on the right track. Seeing your doc so quickly should make all the difference. My band was cutting off the blood supply and virtually "killing" the tissue of my stomach. The band slipped to the maximum. The surgeon wasn't even sure he could correct the damage by removing the band. I literally escaped death by 2 days. My case was the extreme. Again, You are being so smart to see your dr. My doc was in MX, so the surgery was done by one in the states who only took my case because a dear friend called him. I pray that doing what your doctor says will be the answer. Believe me, you don't want to have the band removal surgery. My prayers are with you, sincerely...God Bless and Keep You.

Sounds like you're having a hard time of it. I'm so sorry. I can identify with the frustration, but let's keep trying. I passed by a Curves this afternoon and considered joining too. They have a special right now. At this point, being there, losing weight or not, gets me out of the house and away from temptation for awhile. It would be nice to lose inches though. A lot of the teachers where I teach have had their ears stapled to lose weight. Have you heard of it? Don't think anyone has been successful. I'm one who's tried every diet, diet pills included. Looks like it's going to be a lifetime struggle. I am upbeat right now though. Just got a bill from the surgeon for $2,860 for removing my band and found out, in spite of his filing with the insurance stating "lapband removal," the insurance is paying all but $290.00 of the bill. I had $450.00 docked from my teaching salary this month and will be billed from 3 hospitals for my care during the ordeal. God is being good to me right now. Maybe I wasn't meant to keep the band, but paying 100% of its removal would sink me. God Bless You and All who read this.

True. I was discouraged by the slow weight loss and thought I would tighten the band, eat less solids, lose a little fast weight, and then loosen the band. Maybe that had nothing to do with the slippage...The band could have already started slipping. I don't guess I'll ever really know. Now, I'm dealing with the expense of the whole unbanding. My dr., who assured me he had sent the insurance co. a diagnosis of "removal of obstruction,"... now, his office tells me they coded my surgery as 'removal of lapband' and to cross my fingers that insur. co. will pay. Cross my fingers? Are they kidding ? Anyway, sorry you're having problems with your stomach. You r being so wise to keep a check on it. Good Luck!

Ann, I'm so sorry I came across as being insensitive. I meant that a lot of my banded friends talk about losing their food during each meal like it's the norm. I thought that when my intake was more restricted that it was ok to also. I should have known better. Honestly, I appreciated your remark and thought I was warning others not to make my mistake of not consulting a dr. before it was too late.

I started NutriSystem this week. My unbanding had resulted in a quick 10 lb. gain. This is my last week of school (high school English teacher), and it's been hard to resist the lounge food treats. I'm hoping that being out of school will help me to commit to an exercise program. Wish me luck! Best to all of you!! -
My band slipped and was removed April 2006. The advice I give is if you r throwing up, I don't care who else does and has no complications, have some of the fill removed. I have migraines, so throwing up from nausea could have been the problem. I just know I went 10 mo's. with no problem and when I tightened up (had a fill) to not being able to eat meat, it wasn't long before the band slipped. Now, I'm miserable!!!

Hi! I am 2 wks after band removal surgery. I am very concerned about gaining back weight. I had the band implanted July 2006 and have never had problems until April 9. Could not keep even water down. Don't know what happened to cause the problem. Bills from surgery, scoping, IV's, and hospital stay are beginning to come in. I had the band implanted in Mexico to cut down on costs, now I'm going to have to pay a fortune for its removal. Just needed to talk.:help:

Ana, I had the band removed in the Oxford, MS, 2 weeks ago. We called MX about surgery but the last minute flight and surgery were too questionable. I honestly don't think I'd have survived the flight. The surgeon said my situation was catastrophic. I want to beat this thing after having been through so much. The O% balance transfer would be the way to go. I paid for my MX surgery that way. The bills r beginning to come in. Don't know how much the total will be yet. What r u doing to maintain weight? Any specific diet...exercise? Thanks for taking the time to chat.
