  1. I am 7 months out and had a fill last Monday. I am up to 6.5cc in a 10cc band. I was fine until Friday night. I was starving and grabbed 2 pringles (I know, bad choice) while my dinner was heating up and got STUCK like I've never been stuck before. Sliming galore and 2 hours later I was panicked...tried gagging myself and still stuck and nothing but slime coming up. After 3 hours of bad pain I just went to bed with the stuck feeling still there. Saturday morning it felt gone but I still could not eat. Water brought on the stuck feeling. I managed to get Soup and a yogurt down. Sunday, still not fully back to normal feeling. food gets stuck at first and then if I wait long enough I can eventually get it down. This morning I had trouble getting coffee down. I cannot drink like I used to. My question is am I too tight or did I just irritate my band? After a really bad episode, how long does it take for the irritation to go away? Is it possible to be filled on Monday and not be too tight till Friday? I have still never had food come back up. I'm thinking I'll just wait a couple more days to see what happens. Any advice is appreciated!

    Protein Bars

I LOVE the Zone Perfect chocolate almond raisin bar. It has 210 cals and 15 g Protein. You can find them at Walmart. They are perfect for me when I'm starving and dont have time to eat a proper meal. They arent heavy and have a rice crispy kind of texture. I definitely feel like I've had a treat when I eat one. I also suggest the EAS AdvantEDGE carb control drinks. They only have 110 cals and 17 gr protein. They also are at Walmart and come in a 4-pack. I find that if I have one of these in the morning, I do better all day long.

    Beer

I miss an ice cold beer (Corona) more than anything else. I have tried to drink it but it makes me feel full and bloated. If I want a drink, I have a shot of Malibu chilled. I can drink it straight and theres nothing mixed in so no extra calories on top of it. As far as alcohol having a greater effect....I believe its because our tummys arent full of food. You will always need less when you drink on an empty stomach. We get together with friends and family quite often and there always good food and drinks. I've given up most of the foods and my addiction to Diet Coke...can't take away my alcohol too! "CHEERS!"
  4. On occasion I can feel the sensation that you are talking about. You will also feel the band when you go for a fill. Its the weirdest feeling and it always makes me a lil queasy but it only lasts a minute. I feel my port CONSTANTLY. My bra rubs it and there are certian ways that I cannot sit. It sticks out and is very visible. Just last week I was scheduled to have it moved but the Dr wasnt convinced that it would be any different anywhere else. Guess I'm just going to have to live with it.

    August Rush in bandland!

Happy Valentines Day to everyone! The first thing in my mouth this morning was a Hershey Kiss! (ONLY ONE) Banded or not, I still love chocolate! This Wednesday will be 6 months for me. I, like everyone else, have had my good days and bad days BUT I do not regret it at all! Here I sit 30 lbs lighter and know that this weight will not come back to haunt me. I play with roughly 5lbs but thats ok because the scale is slowly moving in the right direction. I also do not have much restriction. Four fills and I have 5.75 cc in my band. I cannot get another fill till March 21. I need to get my butt back on the exercise program and stick with it!!! Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be more Holidays now than ever before! LOL Since last August we've had to go through Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years and now Valentines....it's also Mardi Gras season here! Thats seven occasions that I normally would enjoy with lots of food or candy involved. March is my bday, April has Easter............it goes on and on. With that being said......I've decided that I'm going to LIVE my life and know that here will be days when a Hershey Kiss at 7am is OK!!! Hope everyone has a great day!!
  6. I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago. The Dr prescribed a daily dose of miralax and I mix it in my coffee. It works everyday for me!! I do not have any side effects or problems at all and I use the Walmart brand.
  7. This is what I have found to work for me. I drink an EAS advantage Protein Drink first thing in the morning. Then I grab a bottle of Water and do my workout. After the workout I sit and relax with my cup of coffee. Shower and then eat a light snack if I need it. My band seems tight first thing in the morning so food gets stuck. The coffee seems to relax it a lil bit. I mix Miralax in with the coffee everyday. You will find that Miralax works wonders and you won't need the fiber! I was prescribed a daily dose of it long before my surgery. The Walmart brand is what I use. Good Luck!

    Can Still Barely Swallow

I had the hardest time drinking after surgery and ended up dehydrated 5 days later. I had to go get an IV at the hospital. Everytime I took a sip the pain was unbearable and it was like I had to burp just to make room for the water to go down. This lasted almost 2 weeks. GasX strips were a lifesaver! They melt on your tongue so you dont have anything to really swallow. Walking helps a TON too! Hang in there, before long you will be wishing you had a tiny bit of that restriction back. 5 months and 4 fills later, I can eat ANYTHING!

Do I have a port problem?

My port hurts all the time! I have been banded since August and have complained about it since the beginning. They kept telling me that I was just healing....well at my last appt in Dec he said I could pay to have it moved! I think he placed my port way too high, it touches my ribs and when I sit, my ribs dig underneath it. My underwire on my bra touches it and its constant pressure on it. I sometimes get these pains that shoot through my middle. Its a weekly thing but not daily. The Dr wont admit that he placed it wrong but he has done surgery on two of my friends and theirs is not like mine. After paying for the band, I dont have the money to pay to have the port moved!!! I hope you find answers and relief. I can sympathize with you!!!!

My first real temptation...it's too soon!

sugar free gum helps with the urge to chew and it comes in lots of flavors.
  11. Its comments like this that really aggrivate me! I was also banded at a BMI of 32. I heard these negative comments from people of all sizes but mainly from people who were much bigger than I was. I have been on the weight rollercoaster all of my life....done every diet there is and still could not keep my weight at a normal BMI. About 2 years ago I had a personal trainer who helped me get 40lbs off and I ended up injuring my knee in the process. Guess what>>>>the Dr told me to stop working out or I would end up having to have knee surgery so I stopped the workouts and the weight slowly came back on! I see nothing wrong with taking control of your life BEFORE you become 100+ pounds overweight! Everyone has their own story and its a personal decision. "ONLY 60LBS" IS EXTREMELY OVERWHELMING AND UNHEALTHY TO CARRY AROUND!!! You are wrong in saying that half of the weight would be gone from liquid and mushies....at least it wasn't the case for me. Do not judge anyone who is wanting to improve their quality of living!!! I am not ok with being 60lbs overweight, maybe some people think it's no big deal and easy to fix.
  12. I have had 3 fills and can eat a whole one, pasta and all! I take them to work when I dont have any leftovers from the night before. Its much better than grabbing a fast food alternative.
  13. I had surgery 5 months ago and started with a BMI of 32. I paid $15,000 for my surgery and do not regret it. The weight loss has been slower than I imagined but it is sooooo worth every penny! My weight has yo-yoed up and down all my life and I now have a tool to keep me off that rollercoaster. I do not have good restriction yet because my Dr is conservative with fills. I can still eat most anything and it is still sort of a diet. This is not a magic fix...you have to work towards your goal. I weigh on the Wii Fit every morning and when I started it would tell me I was obese (just barely at the bottom of the chart) and just two days ago it told me I am "Normal" (just barely at the top of the chart!)!! I started out a sz 14/16 and can now wear a size 8/10!!! I am worth every penny it cost! Dont be surprised to hear negative comments from people because of your low BMI! I have never tried to keep it a secret from anyone. At first I had several people tell me that I wasnt "THAT BIG". My respponse was "You carry around 55 extra pounds for a week and then tell me how you feel!" It always shuts them up! Good Luck on your journey!!!!!!

    ~~NSV~~

I have one too...............I can now wear a dress without having my thighs rub together!!!! Before, I would never wear a skirt or dress because I would be chaffed by the end of the day!

    my Lovenox hurt today!

I used to have to give them to my hubby. He insisted he couldnt do it himself. He preferred me to insert the needle quick....said it wasnt painful that way. I can see where giving yourself a shot would hurt more than someone else doing it for you. GOOD LUCK! I wonder why they didnt give you coumadin instead......

    SEXXXXXXX

My Dr said to wait 4 weeks to give yourself time to heal.
  17. Diet Coke used to be my best friend! (along with M&M's) That was all I drank and had A LOT of it. It took me 4 days to get over the caffiene withdrawl before surgery and BOY am I glad I did it before surgery!! I didn't need anything else to deal with the first week after surgery. Hang in there....it will pass! I had headaches and BAD depression but it was sooooo worth it! I now drink caffiene free coffee and an occasional glass of regular tea but I can say I'm no longer addicted!!! Its a really good feeling!! YOU CAN DO IT!
  18. HIGHEST WEIGHT - 203 GOAL WEIGHT - 125-130 SURGERY DATE - 08/16/10 WEIGHT ON DATE OF SURGERY - 175 CURRENT WEIGHT AS OF 01/19/11 - 147 I'm roughly 20lbs from my goal weight. Hopefully I'm finally off the weight rollercoaster I've been on my entire life.

    August Rush in bandland!

    August Rush in bandland!

Hello Yall! I haven't been on here in a while. Honestly, I think the old LBT was way more user friendly!! To date I've lost 28 1/2 lbs, have had 2 fills and still have no restriction. I can eat anything! My next fill is Dec 27 so I'll have to make it through Christmas on pure will power! It looks like some of you are in the same boat as me. When I started this journey, my goal was to lose a total of 55lbs so I'm a lil over halfway there. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to be close to goal when I FINALLY get restriction. Best wishes to all!!

    August Rush in bandland!

I'm waiting to hear if my dr is going to move my port. I have port pain with physical exercise too plus my ribs ar under the top of it! I cant sit sideways on the sofa without my port bothering me. Its crazy! Lately the scar is kinda sensitive too. Let us know what the Dr says about it....I'm curious. Hope the pain eases up.
  23. I had surgery 8/16/10. I cant complain, their staff is great. I think my port is a lil high because its rubbing my ribs. Waiting to hear back from them as to whether on not it needs to be moved. After 2 fills, still no restriction though. How about you??

    repostion port

The top of the port is sitting on my ribs now. You can CLEARLY see my port....theres no doubt about where it is. Mine is not even close to my jeans. In the beginning, I joked about having a nipple tatooed on it cause it looks like a small 3rd boob! I was ONLY joking!
  25. Hello All, I'm wondering if anyone has ever had their port moved or repositioned. I have been complaining about my port since surgery and was told that it was sore because I was just healing. Here I am 3 1/2 months out and it still bothers me. It's not real painful just mildly uncomfortable. I think he put it too high. When I'm standing, the very top part of my port is just over my ribs, right under my left breast. My ribs dig into it and if I do not sit completely upright I can feel pressure. Any real physical activity also makes it sore. I called again about it today and was told that I may have to have it moved. I'm really worried that my ribs are going to eventually make it come loose. My underwire on my bra hits the top of my port! I know there is a foreign object inside me but I never expected to be constantly reminded of it due to soreness. Am I alone in this issue???
