  1. Hi again

I forgot to add that yes you do have to pay upfront but only your out of pocket expenses, but I had my super money by then so I was ok, I just put it on my credit card and then used the super money to pay it off. I think that you will find Dr Daoud is way cheaper than some of the others as I shopped around and some had out of pocket expenses of $6000 - $10 000.

  2. Hi There

My sister and I were banded on the 27th Jan. Dr Daoud is the best, he is really kind, funny and makes you feel like he is interested in people with obesity problems. I like the fact that you can call him anytime if you are in trouble, also all the visits and fills afterwards are bulk billed.

Anyway I was out of pocket $4275.55 to be exact and the price is still the same as my friend went to see Dr Daoud last Monday and is having the Op on the 16th. My super paid for most of my out of pocket but I also had private health insurance so that covered that part. There was also a gap of about $400 to $500 for the guy that puts you to sleep (don't know how to spell it :) ) Anyway if you need to know anymore just email me on kristine.rankin@bigpond.com.au and I would be happy to help. I would recommend Dr Daoud in a heartbeat.

  3. Hi Tanya

I had my surgery with my sister and friend on the 27th January. Things have been going pretty well I have lost about 12kg so far (8.4 prior to surgery on the optipoo stuff). I live at Bracken Ridge on the northside of Brisbane. Do you ever get on the Brisbanebandsters website I thought that I read a post on there about someone having their port tube stuck with a needle.

I hope that you are recovering well now and that things will get back to normal for you quickly. I have been back at work for most of last week so it is not too bad luckly.

    Anyway hear from you soon

  4. Hi Bella

Just writing to see how you went with your op. Things should be settling down for you now, I am feeling pretty good and went back to work on Tuesday this past week. I am still have a fair bit of swelling near the port site (is is like having a little pregnant tummy on your normal tummy). The GP tells me this is fairly normal so that is good.

Anyway hope that you are going well.

    Hear from you soon.

Same to you for the 30th. I'm glad the green vegi diet is now over but the whole thing is new start for us all. Let me know how you go as I am not sure it you will be online with coming to Bris on the 27th.

    All the best

  6. Hi Cindi Good luck for Wednesday, my sister and I are having ours on Tuesday 27th so I know how you feel. All the best Kris
  7. Hi Bella

Glad everything went well for you. I chose Optislim which the dietician said was just as good (and tasted better to me). The whole diet thing is really hard when you have been used to eating what you like when you like . I found this other website for Brisbane Banded people on the net on Sunday and they were having a lunch at Milton so my sister and I went along. There were people there having the band soon, a couple of weeks post op and some who have had the band for ages. It was really great to see and hear all their stories and it made my sister feel a bit better as she was worried about not being able to socialise after the op.

Anyway I probably won't be able to catch up unfortunately on the 27th as that is the day of my op but I will let you know how I go and by that time you will be able to let me know how you go too. :)

    Keep in touch, talk soon

  8. Hi Bandaidowunder - gee that is a bit of bad luck I hope that is not a normal thing that happens cause people won't want to have extra surgery all the time. I live in Brisbane.

Glad everything went well for you. I chose Optislim which the dietician said was just as good (and tasted better to me). The whole diet thing is really hard when you have been used to eating what you like when you like but I have made it through 8 days now so it is getting easier. 11. Hi BandAiDowUnder

Thanks for your fab photos they are really amazing. I love it when people put before and after photos on not just silly photos of before or after we want to see the full journey. Anyway I am getting my band on the 27th of January with my sister so looing at these sites has been really helpful. Your photos are the first ones I have ever felt like commenting on cause they are so great and also because I think you are from Aus like me (hopefully I got that right).

Thanks again and all the best

  12. Hi Bella

Hope that your doctors appointments went well and that your diet is progressing along also. Can't say I like the Optifast and vegies but I suppose it is doing me some good. All the best for the 27th I will think of you also, I think my op is around 11 on the 27th. Keep in touch and let me know how you go also.

  13. Hi all, just wondering if anyone is on warfarin and doing the pre op diet. I started my diet today (Optislim) and green vegies only but I am concerned that too many green vegies will increase the affect of my Warfarin. I am due to have an INR test in couple of days and I see my hematologist next Monday but I am worried about the whole thing until then. I can't call my hematologist as he is still away until the day I see him next week. Any help. Kristiner:crying:

Warfrin and the pre op diet

Thanks Restlessmonkey, will do as yes you are right I don't want the reverse effect. I will also have a INR test today or tomorrow and let them know so they can take this info into account. Kristiner

Warfrin and the pre op diet

Thanks Restlessmonkey I am glad that the green vegies decrease the effect rather than increase it as I don't want to have a bleed etc. The trouble is everyone is still in holiday mode over here in Aus as the surgeon, hematologist and nutritionist are all away until one week into my diet. I am happy to eat any green vegies cause if that is all I can have I had better vary the dishes or I will go mad. Thanks for your help I feel a little better about the whole thing I was just reading in another thread where someone said they could not take asprin with the diet drinks and that got me thinking maybe the whole diet part would have a big impact on the warfarin level. Thanks again Kristiner

    Will be banded Jan 27th

Hi There I am being banded on the 27th of Jan also so I wish you all the very best. Don't worry about what other people think after all you are doing something for you not them. I have told very few people also but once they start to notice then I won't mind letting anyone know. Really some people get their wrinkles and boobs fixed so why can't we sort our weight out it's less vain anyway. Kristiner

    optifast vs optislim or others

Hi Guys Thanks for talking about Optislim v Optifast I was wondering what people preferred. My daughter is usint Optislim (not for banding reasons) and the chemist told her that Optislim has more sugar in in and tasted better where Optifast was the more rigid form. My Dr told me that we could also have Dr Mcleods which is the same kind of thing but I don't know where you find it. Anyway if you have any other ways of making the shakes taste better please let me know as I have to start on the 13th and I am not looking forward to it as I will be as grumpy as all hell. Kristiner

    Banding 27th Jan

Hi Sunshine 23 Wow I can't believe it but I am having my lapband on the 27th January also along with my sister and another friend. Our doctor is Mark Daoud and we are going to the Sunnybank Private hospital. I am rather nervous about the whole thing but I am sure that after it is all over life can only improve from there.
