Hi, I lost 100 lbs on band but had severe stuck problems and got my band removwd and converted to mgb. Now 14 daya post op, stiches have healed but every now and then i have severe bile reflux andnif i have some thing spicy i have this terrible feeling of throwing up. My lead surgeon is from europe who came just to perform the mgb in my country where a follow up surgeon takes care of follow ups.. But he is not too experieced.. I have some acid and somw bile reflux, out of which bile relfux i never had with the band... I am super scared to eat anything, doctors say it will settle... Is there a medication i can take to fix my bile reflux.. They gave me metaclopramide which really does nothing but make me throw up or does little to control the bile reflux... Need help from. Fellow patients.. Does it get better? My surgeon wrote to me saying "It’s too early. See how you go I am coming in first wk of February. If needed we can do procedures to divert bile" Does that mean another surgery? I have lost 7 kgs and am now 28 bmi, to eyes i look like super fit but internally i am super weak. Thanks

good to hear about your recovery, yes once on solid you`ll feel a lot better. How was the pain management, were you kept in the hospital or immediately discharged? Also was pain better/worse then the first procedure and by when did it start getting better or (gone) Thanks! -
Getting from band to mini bypass scared.
bakerboy posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi, I had a rough 1.5 years with constant vomiting, the need for water to push down my food, and not not knowi g what to do, as good biatric surgeon wasnt available. I was banded 10 years ago in mexico, all went well lost a 100 lbs plus and maintained it, now i am around 220 lbs 6.1 feet in height. I may having scaring in my band area as i still feel restriction even though band is fully deflated. I also have mild gerd or reflux and constant feeling food or water is stuck. Wanted to get sleeve done but doctor recomended mini bypass.. I wanted to know the pain, the expectations, is the food stuck like in the band? How soon before one recovers from the surgery? I am not obese right now as in i am.a bit over weight, how soon can i resume my normal desk job? I am pretry sick of stuck food in my band, barium.test shows slight narrowing at the site of the band. Thanks a million -
Lapband slipped? Eroded?? Help needed!
bakerboy replied to bakerboy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Barrium swallow shows slight esophagus dilitation except for that no band erosion or any band slippage..no liquid now.. Syspotoms have improved .. Gained a kilo or 2 because of water and food entering the body normally.. I dont know if i should get sleeve or bypass after this and get band removed. -
Lapband slipped? Eroded?? Help needed!

Finally yesterday i found a band doctor.. Who examined me.. He took out the liquid only 2 cc of omnipaque in the band.. My symptoms were muxh better but he suspected aesophegus dilitation and now i realize my food a d water was getting stuck in my aesophagus and not band.. It is still getting stuck but a lot lot better then before.. I had a barrium swallo test for an hour today... And now i will get a endoscopy done tommorow.. Nervous of whats going on.. He suggested me to take out the band and go for gastric bypass or mini bypass even though i am below my target weight .... Confused and scaredif my esphagus is perm damaged or worst i have barrets? Or some thing sinister? Also cost for revision is very expensive for me right now and no insurance. -
So I started my weight loss journey at 144 kgs, and came to 95 10 years ago, since then i have been very active and maintained it, but in the last two years, i went to 110, but brought my self down to 105, from here i literally threw up any solid food or even liquid, i try to push food down with water and for the last couple of years living like this. the country i live in now we don't have specialists for biatrics so i cannot get this checked. But i feel that either my band is too tight or it has slipped, i have lost 10 kgs in the last year, 5 kgs in the last 2 months, and this is unexplained weight loss, i am eating everything, choclates, burgers, regular food, but i feel i cannot keep anything in, in my mind i am eating and keeping it in, but it doesn't explain the weight loss, yes i throw up (planned) a lot, i feel i am stuck and don't know what to do..what steps can i take to fix this?

Just did a self fill wow feel awesome

wow, i was just googling huber needle and i got here, guys this is not a hoax and is real. however LESSON LEARNT This was a dumb thing to do!!!! I don't have any place to get a fill, i don't know what to do!!!! I have lost 55 kgs, and i`m now below 20% fat level but i had 0 restriction and was scared on getting fat again. ANYWAY just to let everone know i might have caused a leak in the band i don't know if it was my former doctor in another country, that did not use a huber needle or i caused it, but i again have no restriction. This is VERY dangerous, you can easily cause a bacterial infection which can lead to many medical problems. DO NOT DO THIS, ITS NOT WORTH IT! -
After being severely tired of doctors being out of country, and no other doctor being here, and sick and tired of the idea of flying 1000's of miles for a fill, i did it, i got a huber needle, cleaned myself with pyodine, hit my self with a sterile needle in the center of the port and boom i have restriction. I wanted to know how many people have tried doing this? and can the huber needle be reused, or i have to get another for each fill/unfill thanks

smoking and banding. I will be banded soon, the nurse has told me to quit smoking which i have for 2 weeks till the procedure is done. 2 questions i had were. 1. it is super difficult to quit, what do i do?, i am taking medication for smoking and smoking 3-4 a day from 20, and those 3-4 are just 3-4 puffs per ciggerate, so basically if you combine 1 cig a day. is that ok? 2. After the surgery, for the post op, i require 3 weeks of liquid diet, how does this work? i can have any low calory liquid or just specifics like 1st week Soups, 2nd week juice etc? Thanks
