  1. I got a stern talking to from my Dr. because I was overeating and my esophogus was dilated and as a result I was having reflux. He has loosened my band and I am not having any symptoms. He told me that if I start having symptoms again he will have to remove my band. Now I am almost afraid to eat because I don't want to have my band removed. My question is How much should I be eating quantity not calories? I eat until I feel full but not so full that I am miserably uncomfortable. I have not had a PB either. any suggestions are appreciated.

    How much should I eat?

Thanks for the replies... RestlessMonkey, I was PBing when I was overeating. I havent been since I have been very careful about what I eat. I primarily eat meat, veges and some whole grain carbs. I have been limiting myself to 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food. This all started because I was too tight and now I am pretty loose. My Dr is being very careful and slowly tightening it back up. I am still losing but I think it is because I am being very careful about what goes in my mouth and I am exercising regularly. Thanks again...sometimes I just worry too much.

    Need Some Advise

I have a 14cc band. I had my surgery in November and I have had 3 fills. The last fill put me at 9cc's. Since my last fill I can not eat much more than 1/4 cup of food at a time. Some days I can eat more but other days I barely eat anything. Some days I struggle to drink Water. I PB a lot...not everyday but a lot. I also have horrible heartburn. My question is do you think my band is too tight? I am considering having a little bit taken out. Is 1/4 cup of food normal? I eat good healthy food but just not much. I've lost 54lbs and I'm afraid that if I have it loosened I will stop losing. Any advise is appreciated
  5. I ate some potatoe chips this afternoon and immediately felt sick. I pb'd several times and was feeling a little better. I tried to eat a little supper and immediately pb'd again. After several hours I felt better and hungary so I tried to have some Soup and you guessed it I started all over again. Currently I feel good...no pain or discomfort and no urge to pb or vomit. Do I have a blockage or have I just upset my band and need to give it a rest? I have been doing very well and hate to have trouble now. I will never eat chips again.

How do I know if I have a blockage??

PHolloway, I am also in Boise. I see Dr. Korn. I have not heard of first bite syndrome but I think I could have that problem myself. I try to eat small bites and eat slowly but I don't always have success. I feel like I am learning how to eat all over again. How long have you had your band? I was banded on 11/25. I really didn't start losing weight until January when I had my first fill. I am losing at a good pace right now. I need to get back to the gym and I might start losing more. Thanks for your comment. It is nice to see another Boiseian on here.

How do I know if I have a blockage??

Thanks a bunch for your advise. I am feeling better this morning and Water is going down fine. I will do liquids and take it easy for a couple of days. I think I ate too many chips and probably too fast. I had my 3rd fill on March 4th and I have 9cc in a 14cc. This is the first time that I have had good restriction. So I have been learning what I can and can't eat. This was a learning experience. Thanks again!

    Tricare in the Memphis area

I did have to pay for my dietician appointment. My dietician dose not accept or bill insurance. Be patient and jump through all of the hoops and it will be worth it! I did not see the surgeon until 3 weeks before surgery. Good Luck!

    Tricare in the Memphis area

I am not in the Memphis area but I have tricare prime and my only out of pocket cost was $12. My surgeon was in network and they paid everything.Good Luck!
  11. Hi, I was banded on November 25th and will have my first fill tomorrow. I am scared to death. I have been reading the posts on here and hope that it won't be too bad. I am very excited to get started with my weight loss! I am tired of being fat and out of shape. Wish me luck.

    First Fill Tomorrow

Thanks for all of the support! You were right...everything went just fine. He did not give me a local and I only felt a small sting. It was over before I knew it. I'm scheduled for another one next month. Thanks again!
