I agree. Its like a test. You can feel every part of whatever it is you are eating and hope its ok....I go for fill #2 on monday. He dosent use anything to numb me and I have asked for it, but he just wont.. It hurts so much, but I guess its worth it...

bypass vs. banding???

I think it depends on you. I was banded on Dec 23, 08. I have lost 18lbs and have 80 to go...I have a friend who also has the choice. I let her feel where my port is (and you can feel this thing inside of you) and she freaked. There is also more care needed with the band. You have to get fills and very carefully watch how you eat, NO drinking 30 minutes before or after your meals. It just depends what you are willing to go through to loose the weight and begin your new life. Gastric bypass has way more side effects too...I wish I would have gone bypass...:blushing: -
Hi Llynn. I was banded the same day as you and yes. I too get hiccups when I get full. How is your weight loss going? I have only lost 18lbs and with 1 4cc fill, I still have no restriction...Im so discouraged.

Hi. I was banded on Dec 23, 08 and have lost 18 lbs.. Help. I hope the second fill adds some restriction because I have to fight temptation every minute. Have you had any restriction yet?

Hi Cali. Im about 58 days post op and have only lost 18 lbs. Im so discouraged. I walk or ride bikes daily. I watch my diet and yet, I feel like I just can't get the weight to come off. I go for my second fill on Feb 23, 08 so I hope that helps because I feel no restriction....Lets home. Bonnie

Hay Becky. It does not make my shakey. I sometimes forget to eat on them. They also give you a natural feeling energy. I just think its sad that we go through this surgery and still have to take diet pills for hunger..Talk to you soon

My fil was awful. I was not numbed and he missed the port several times. I cant believe the pain I was in. I asked for him to numb me, but allowed myself to be talked out of it..He said he doesn't like to use it. WOW It was so painful. He put in 4cc's in and I dread going back on the 26th of this month...He said it will be eaiser next time. Lets hope so cause the pain is unbelievable

Hi Teri. Congradulations on you new beginning. One thing I would ask of your surgeon is if they will numb you before your fills. Mine does not and I go through so much pain when I have to get it done. Please make sure they do it will make your journey so much more pleasent

Hay Jitterbug. Yep it was very painful. My port is off to the left side 2" below the last rib. When he pushed down trying to feel for it, I was telling him I was still pretty tender, and it didn't seem to matter. He says it won't be as bad next time...I hurt when I lay on my stomach and when I bend over sitting like to pick something up off the floor. I have to remember to stand up and bend down to get it. I do have 4cc's and no restriction. I am having alot of problems with the hunger too. I am currently going back to my regular diet dr for phendymetrozine to help curb hunger. It hurt so much to get a fill maybe i'll just do this and not complain....Thank You for your support. It means alot. Bonnie

Hi beth. I was banded in dec, 08 and im very discouraged also. I have lost 14lbs in 5 weeks, and I just got my first fill on tuesday. I have 4cc's and I only feel restriction when I dring water, not with food, weird ha?...Your not alone in this. I wonder if I made the right choice with lab band and not bypass...

WOW March. Im so happy for you. I was banded in Dec, 08. I have lost 14 lbs in 5 weeks. Its a trip to know your whole life is going to change. Good Luck to you..

It was HELL. I was not numbed. I laid down on the table, he pushed down until he located the port and in went the 9in. needle and he missed. So he had to move it around until he found the right spot and I had 4cc's injected. I feel some restriction, but only with fluids, not foods. I felt like I took a bullet to the belly...SO painful. He said it will be easier next time...I hope so

People say they notice I am loosing weight. When I tell them I had lap band surgery, you would think I just told them I walk on water. Their so in AW of this surgery. Is there anyone in my area who has had this surgery?
