Hey SHaggs, I tend to give myself what I want so I dont obsess over it anymore. have a glass of wine and some cheese - then throw the rest of the bottle out!!! -
Hey Emmsie, I had 2ml on day of surgery and another 2ml at my first fill - making a total of 4ml. My surgeon says most people sit around 6ml and he doesnt have anyone with more than 7.5ml. Having said that, everyone is different. I hope they put at least 3ml in when I go next week.

Thanks Guys!!! All shall be revealed on Tuesday. Keep me posted on how youse guys are doing :rose: -
I'm back. I am now at Day 40 and still dont have any restriction. My next appointment is on the 24th Feb and I am hoping that they fill me to the top! At the moment it feels as though I have wasted my money on having the surgery - and it is money that my family could have used for other things. Any will power that I have shown over the last 7 weeks is all but gone. We have had heaps of social events lately and with all that yummy food and wine in front of me - I am struggling to stay away. I still don't think that I am eating the same amount as I used to, but I am really worried that I may have put weight on. Has anyone else been in this situation? Anyway.... enough whingeing for one night. What has everyone else been up to?

Hi Guys, Things arent so great at the moment, purely because my first fill has made nought difference and my will power to only eat small amount is all but gone. the only time i feel any restriction is when i eat bread or chicken - then I am in pain for a minute or so - then I keep on eating. I try to keep to good foods but isnt always the case. Kids birthdays, partners birthday and general social occassion mean the crap is back. I think I have put on about a kilo - how devastating!! My next appointment is on the 24th and I hope HOPE they fill me right up. I want to feel restricted and I want not to be hungry. Shaggs/Emmsie, hopefully you both get restriction sooner than I have! Have a great night! -
I have been sitting here for most of the day watching skynews give us updates of the Victorian Bushfires. It is so sad that so many people (latest count being 100) have lost their lives and their homes (700). They must have been terrified as the fire-storm came rushing at them. We have lost whole towns. It's unbeleivable!! I have seen bushfires up close but nothing like this - for once I am speechless!! This is Australia's biggest tragedy in living history. They are asking for clothes and money. I know money is something that not everyone has alot of, but every little bit helps. If you can please deposit any spare cash into the bank account below. Seeing as so many of us are losing weight and growing out of our clothes, may I suggest that we donate what we can to the RedCross, St Vinnies etc. Victoria Bushfire Relief Fund BSB: 082-001 Account: 860 046 797 Red Cross - 1800 727 077, Australian Red Cross State Inquiries Centre - 1800 727 077 Salvation Army - The Salvation Army St Vincent de Paul - St Vincent de Paul Society Australia And as for the pathetic people who started these fires.... I hope you suffer as much as the people affected by your mindless acts. Bring back capital punishment!!!

Hey Shaggs, Sorry to hear you've had a bit of pain. I didn't tell you because I didnt haven any!! It's great that you are on the mend and that you have lost that much weight. Well DONE!!! Keep those Fluid up. Megs -
excellent!! great job Damo. I have a sticky-outty bit too and you can see it thru my clothes. I hope it is the same as you and nothing major.

Hey Tully, My surgeon at the avenue did the same thing - put me on the public list. What I found was once I had made that initial appointment with the surgeon I COULDN'T wait to be called on the list and found the money to pay for it. But seeing as how your insurance doesnt kick in until October, it is probably the best thing you can do. Hope you dont have to wait too long!!

I am currently waiting for the truck from St Vinnies to come and collect the yard full of furniture/clothes/linen/toys/food that people have dropped to my house. I just hope it all gets to the people that need it. I can't beleive so many people are dead!!! One guy from my friends work says he thinks they are the only ones (he and his girlfriend) who got out, out of their whole street. I just cant even begin to imagine what they all went thru. heartbreaking. After everything that has happened, 2 more fires were deliberately lit in Healesville overnight!!! What are these people thinking?? I hope they get charged with murder, all 183 counts of it!

Hi, Seeing as most people in this forum is post-op (or soon to be!!!), I think we are all in the same situation. Clothes. What to do with our old clothes that are too big and having an aversion to buying new clothes that (hopefully) wont fit us for very long. It would be a pointless and expensive exercise. I'm thinking we should swap them. WE could then rotate them to the next person who needs them! I am obviously only talking about decent quality clothes.......no holes, no stains, no fading etc. If you dont like them, dont wear them and keep them for the next person. So, is anyone in melbourne in need of size 22-24 clothes? Mine are mostly from City Chic and Myer. On the flip side, is there anyone in Melbourne with excess size 20'ish clothes? I would be happy to look at them to save some $$$. Is this a stupid idea? Would love to hear what people think. hope everyone has a great night. Megs

Hey Jacut, I didn't know Narre was affected! We used to live in Narre Warren North (Oatlands estate), was it near there? I bet it was deliberately lit too. Sunshine.... I think if you give the clothes to any of the charities (red cross, st vinnes etc) and tell them they are for the VIC bushfires - they will get there. Then again, any clothes you donate may go to flood victims. QLD has had a pretty rough week as well.

absolutely... I have been glued to the tv all day. It's is just horrifying.

Hi Everyone (Anyone?), Please bear with me as this is my first blog ever..... I hope I dont bore everyone to tears. I am 29 days into my post-op lapband surgery and all is going well. Too well. I have had one fill of 2mls, which brings me to a total of 4mls, and have not experienced what I think to be 'restriction'. I notice that at meal times I cannot eat as much as I usually would, but I still get hungry between meals. Hopefully my next fill (12 days from now) will get me in line. Apart from that, I have lost 13.5kg (29lb) including the pre-op diet. I am excited that I have dropped weight quickly, I am now back to the weight that I was after I had my 2nd child. It's funny, before the lapband, the only time i lost any substantial amount of weight was when I was pregnant.....go figure. I am now at the stage where my clothes are getting too big, but I dont want to buy new clothes until the season changes. My friend (fellow lapbander) has given me some clothes, but I need to lose a fair bit more weight before they will fit me. We really should start a clothing swap-meet. Anyway, I think that is enough from me tonight. My very fit and buff other half has just made me a cup of tea. How strange it is that a gym-junkie (him) and a blob-master (me) have ended up together???? Have a good night all..... :toetap05:

I recommend the Centre for Bariatric surgery also. My surgeon is Paul Burton. Give them a call (number in previous post) and ask them.

BMI 32.4 ... what is my success in reaching BMI 25?????
megsy101 replied to Mermaid1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I was under the impression that you only qualified for lap-band surgery if you had a BMI of over 40, or a BMI of over 35 combined with a weight related illness (diabetes etc). That is certainly the case at the clinic that I went to. Are you sure you can get the surgery done? I think being a senior exec it would be good to tell people. You have acknowledged a problem and you are doing something about it....being pro-active about it and not sitting around letting it defeat you. As far as recovery, I was pretty much up and running 2 days later. I was operated on the Wed, driving on Friday and working by Sat. On Monday it was business as usual with the kids and housework etc. I think alot of it is metal as well.... if you think you're ok, you will be. -
oh Shaggs, thats a big call. I can't go without carbs, even now.

Hi Everyone, I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow. Just wondering if someone could fill me in on what happens? I am hoping they give me a 'fill' because I cant stop ramming things into my mouth. Am trying to keep it healthy but my focus is waning somewhat. My weight loss is now sitting at around 13kg and about 5-6kg of that is since the operation (4 weeks). Is that good / bad/ average? Hope everyone else is having a great day!!! Megs :w00t:

Hey there, Just home from first post-op appointment and I had my first 2mls injected (approx 9ml band). The surgeon is really happy with my weight loss as I have already lost 10% of my excess weight!! The needle didn't hurt at all, it was the prodding around finding the port that hurt. The surgeon also said that 'most' people need around 6ml before they have the right amount of restriction and that he doesnt have any patients with more than 7.5mls. So, hopefully only 2 (?) more fills until i'm on the money!! Hope everyone is feeling great and losing lots!!! Later dudes Megs
