I dont think my dancing would inspire anyone watching!! Me thinks it would be like watching a lava lamp..... -
hi... there is always a positive, you just need to find it (easier said than done i know!!). Perhaps look at it this way.....maybe the band slipped because of all the 'fat' you have lost from around your stomach. That has got to be great news for you health!!! Chin up and remember it is all for the best (well... not the assaulty - that sucks big time!). I dont know if you are familiar with Monty Python (british comedy group), this is a song from the their best movie ever "Life of Brian". It's a personal motto of mine as well. You will probably think I am mad, but here goes.... ALways look on the bright side of Life Some things in life are bad, They can really make you mad, Other things just make you swear and curse, When you're chewing life's gristle, Don't grumble, Give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best. And... Always look on the bright side of life. [whistle] Always look on the light side of life. [whistle] If life seems jolly rotten, There's something you've forgotten, And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps, Don't be silly chumps. Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing. And... Always look on the bright side of life. [whistle] Always look on the right side of life, [whistle] For life is quite absurd And death's the final word. You must always face the curtain with a bow. Forget about your sin. Give the audience a grin. Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow. So,... Always look on the bright side of death, [whistle] Just before you draw your terminal breath. [whistle] Life's a piece of shit, When you look at it. Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true. You'll see it's all a show. Keep 'em laughing as you go. Just remember that the last laugh is on you. And... Always look on the bright side of life. Always look on the right side of life. [whistle]

Hey Sunshine, Not good luvvy!!! Toast is never a good thing - best to steer clear me thinks. My Dr said substitute bread with Rivita crisp bread or Saladas, they dont turn into a doughy ball in your stomach. I had an 'experience' with sushi a few weeks ago. 3 bites in, 10 minutes of pain and then 'high tide' and it all came gushing out. I dont think i will be going there again. dont let it depress you though..... just make better choices. Megs

latest fill going great!! not eating much and really have no desire to. started Yoga last week and am walking 5-7km 3-4 times a week. Oh, and dancing around the house with my Ipod on full blast!!! -
Hi, Yeah... could not make appointment with surgeon until I had been to seminar. It is so you get alot of the information beforehand and they dont have to go over the same things 1000 times - fair enough too!

Emmsie, reality check required.... 14kg is fantastic!! I can understand that you want the weight just to drop off (don't we all?), but this a long term process and you are ahead of the pack already. If you are truly unsatisfied with your weekly losses, reasses what you are doing and see if you can do anything better. That way you will feel more in control of your progress. Dont be too hard on yourself! Catch you later Megs -
Hi, I've not come accross anyone who is not happy about being banded. It is the single most positive thing I have done for myself in my entire life! I wish I had done this years ago. I was banded 8 weeks ago (7th Jan 09) and have lost 11kg/25lb since surgery and 15kg/33lb since pre op diet commenced on the 26th Dec 08. I have had 2 fills and will get another small one next week and I can't wait. I can only guess that people who aren't happy with the band are people who are perhaps expecting too much and/or not doing the right things to get them the best results. This is not a solution, but a tool to help you lose weight. Don't get me wrong, I struggle to eat the right things and maintain exercise, but having the band minimises the effect of my bad behaviour and magnifies my good behaviour. At the end of the day, if my weight loss is bad, it is because of the choices I've made and not the bands fault. The band is good, the band is worth it and the band is gonna keep you alive for years to come!

It was funny, once the food was up, there was no more pain and I wasn't hungry anymore. how does that work? go figure. what is even stranger is that I had Sushi the day after my fill and even though it hurt a little bit, it was nothing like what happened yesterday. either way sushi is off the menu!! what I am struggling to do is find everyday food that is healthy and yet wont cause a problem being digested. dont want to eat sandwiches, they dont want us eating soup, sushi is out.... I've made a couple of salads, but they are alot of keystrokes when you just want something qwik and easy. Does anyone have any suggestions?? -

One further update, I had my first and hopefully last productive burp today!! I bought some sushi rolls for lunch and subsequently found out that it was not a good move. I had 3 bites, then pain, then 10 minutes of walking around trying to burp whilst in pain, then running to the bathroom as everything just floated back up into my mouth. Utterly disgusting!!! Even if I could eat sushi again, i probably wouldn't with the memory of todays episode still in my head! -

hey Shaggs, restriction is better but I want more fill. I tested the alcohol vs restriction last night to see how we were placed and I am glad to inform you that having fills does not affect alcohol consumption at all!!! These experiments are ongoing and I will keep you informed on any further results. Ego-boost was at an all time high thanks to advances of a certain cute and BUFF!!!! 26 year old who was very persistent and yet ultimately disappointed. Bad for him, good for me. It's good to know that even though I ain't using it, I still got it!!! LOL. -

Lellow... OMG!!! That sounds like a huge procedure. You are so brave! I can't believe you need that much work after losing 27kg. I need to lose another 45kg and I am hoping that I wont need anything done afterwards. I am kidding myself aren't I??? God, I hadn't really thought about what I would need done, not to mention how much it would cost!!! can I ask how old you are?? -

Hi Lellow, May I pls ask....what is a body-lift? How much will it cost and how long is the expected recovery??? thanks Megan -
Hey All, Well yesterday I got my second fill and it wasnt as bad as I thought, although it wasn't great. I had put on weight, about 100grams (about 22oz I think???). The Doctor wasn't fazed by it at all, saying that this stage of the band was 50/50 when you dont feel restriction. As I already had 4ml she was unsure how agressive to be with this fill. 1ml is the usual increase, but as I had felt no restriction at all we tossed around the 1.5ml and then decided to go with a compromise of 1.3ml. This bring me to a total of 5.3ml in a 10ml band. I am feeling a bit more restriction and I have had to slow down when I'm eating which is good, but I think I will need a bit more in a couple of weeks. Today I comfortably ate 2 sushi rolls for lunch and have had a small piece of lasagne and steamed vegies for dinner. I'm full, but for how long? Anyway, I have started walking most mornings after school drop off. Am doing a 4.5km (2.8 mile) lap of the neighbourhood and have started using my 'Ab King Pro' that has been sitting dormant in our bedroom for 18 mths....lol. I did 50 situps on it on Monday and am still hurting when I move. Maybe I'll do more tomorrow. On the Ego boost side of things, alot of people are commenting on how I look and I have had to throw some clothes out!! But I am noticing that my face has alot more lines on my face as it deflates.... that can't be good!! Till next time..................... :tt2:

I'm a fill junkie now and I want my next hit. have you started 'regular' food yet? How's it going? -
Had my second fill today, they gave me 1.3ml to take me to 5.3ml in total. I hope I feel restriction now!!!

optifast vs optislim or others
megsy101 replied to thinkingslim70's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi All, I rang my my clinic when I was trying to decide what to buy Optifast or Optislim. They were very adament that Optifast was better. I tried arguing with them for my wallets sake, but they didnt budge and said for better results use the Optifast.... which I did. And I hated it, thought it was VILE!!! Am sooo thoroughly thankful I dont have to touch any of that crap anymore!
