Do you think it's rude to correct another's grammar?
mrspruett replied to marnie723's topic in Rants & Raves
It is definitely bad manners. I think GraceUtah used a good example. We get pretty offended when a thin stranger in the supermarket corrects our eating habits by looking in our cart. It is the same thing. People do not like strangers correcting them. Most people do find it offensive. -
two months after and feeling great
mrspruett replied to garfield461's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats to you! Wow, what an inspiring post. I know what you mean by "wanting" food. That is head hunger. It does lessen over time or it has for me. Great job! -
I am thinking about adding protein shakes to my diet. I am stuck on a major plateau and I need to do something. Some people say extra protein is the key....What do you guys think? I am several months post-op and would be adding the shake in at breakfast time as a meal replacement. Do you think this will help break my plateau? All opinions welcome......:help:

Dozy- I hope you are feeling better each day and believe me you did the right thing. It is better to take a positive step than to do nothing about your weight. You are right about the pretty housedress or robe. Whisper-goodluck to you! Keep us posted on your recovery.

RhondaL-if you decide to self-pay and go to Mexico, you will not be alone here. There are many posters on LBT who have had the band surgery in Mexico.

fill freebies - how many do you get?
mrspruett replied to lindata's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, they can really add up, even with insurance. Lifetime fills at no charge sound nice! -
It wasn't you that I was concerned about! I was afraid Chickatee would get the wrong impression because you and I were posting at the same time. Chickatee- You are sooo welcome!

Sleep apnea!! Diabetic!!Any advice!?!?
mrspruett replied to pincham2brn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I no longer use a Cpap for sleep apnea. My diabetic meds (metglip) have decreased 75% and I fully expect to be taken off of it at my next doctor's visit. Byetta is also discontinued. BP meds are still with me but I have chronic heart disease and a stent placement so I may be stuck with some of those. -

Hitting the Wall at 6 Months....

<p>newbeginnings-as soon as you get into the area you want to start a thread in, you should see a blue box right above the forum called "new thread". Click on that and you should be good to go. Hope this helps. It is OK to post anywhere that you want, I was just afraid you wouldn't get as many responses if it was within another thread.***hugs*** -
My doc uses a numbing spray. All I feel is a kind of a pinch. It is a wee bit uncomfortable. My advice is relax and do not look at the needle. It is truly not that bad considering the results. This has been my experience in the 4 fills that I have had.

Just to clarify-the cheers were for chickatee's comment!

Hitting the Wall at 6 Months....
mrspruett replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
TerriDoodle- I think a plateau at 6 mos is common. I just had a loss of 2 pounds recently after plateauing for a few weeks. There is a plateau busting diet posted on here somewhere too. I haven't tried it but it may be worth a look. -

newbeginnings-you will get more responses if you start a new thread with your request for suggestions. That way it won't get lost in this thread. -
Since muscle weighs more than fat, exercising may not take a lot of pounds off but will be beneficial to you. I don't blame you for not wanting to get below 40 BMI. Most insurance companies require comorbidities if you get below that. As for the best body in high school, remember how much you have matured as a woman. I am sure that you are a good person and that is much more important than what you look like. Remember, you will be HOT again! Being overweight is not an easy life and I am sure that by traveling down this road in life, you have developed empathy for others in the same situation and in other sad circumstances. It has made you a better and STRONGER person. In a few months, you will be a sexy lady again and better for having the life experience you have had. Goodluck.

My program fee was just 300 dollars. You are right. Every doc is different. -
Yes, it does. Since Al Gore also got the oscar for his documentary, he probably knows what to do to get the committee's votes.
-
I bet people who have the means campaign and lobby for this award. Behind the scenes of course, like the oscars and emmys. Awarding it to Al Gore does tarnish it's image in my eyes.
