I live in southern Indiana but travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to see my band doc.

I only have told my husband, children, mother, and brother. People tend to be so negative at my workplace and I really couldn't handle the scrutiny. Keeping it a secret takes off the pressure of constantly being hounded about what I eat or how much I have lost.......

This question has been known to incite riots on some boards! There are vastly different opinions among both bandsters and doctors regarding protein drinks. Some say that they are merely liquid calories with no purpose in our diets. Others swear that they keep them feeling full for hours and are a godsend for those who cannot eat when they first wake up! Personally, I do not use them because I have been able to consume protein in solid form since about 4 wks post-op. I say discuss this question with your doctor and explain to him why YOU feel you can benefit from them. Everyone is so different and you must do what works for you. Good luck!

You know something else that indicates ill will IMHO? People who say absolutely NOTHING. I am down 40 pounds. Most of my clothes are too big to wear but the ones I can still wear absolutely HANG on me! Not one comment has been made by my co-workers.......these are the same people who notice a small blemish on your face and comment on it......WTF....

I did OK. A hot dog (no bun), a bit of potato salad, and a small sliver of cake. I should have skipped the cake, but hey, you gotta live a little right? In the past, I would have eaten 2 hot dogs with buns, a hamburger with bun, tons of potato salad, baked beans, desserts, blah blah blah. The band is a gooooood thing!!!

Just a reminder, the above post is singer Charlie Daniel's opinions on illegal immigration. I agree with a lot of what he says but after I copied and pasted this from the email forward, I realized that it is not clear that it is from a statement HE published. I just wanted to clear that up!!!! Have a great day!

HATS OFF TO CHARLIE DANIELS....AT LEAST HE HAS THE COURAGE TO SPEAK HIS MIND!!! I don't know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations. I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place. But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don't care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons. I don't need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don't have anything against Mexicans! I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don't believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it's tanta-mount to saying, "I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there's nothing you can do about it." It's an "in your face" action and speaking just for me, I don't like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn't be happening. Where are you, you bunch of lily livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for defenders of The Constitution? Have you been drinking the water out of the Potomac again? And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be so pork laden and watered down that it won't mean anything anyway. Besides, what good is another law going to do when you won't enforce the ones on the books now? And what ever happened to the polls, guys? I thought you folks were the quintessential finger wetters. Well you sure ain't paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty percent of Americans want some thing done about this mess, and mess it is and getting bigger everyday. This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy. Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can't happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets? If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and refuse to do something meaningful it means that you care nothing for the kind of country your children and grand-children will inherit. But I guess that doesn't matter as long as you get re-elected. Shame on you. One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you Well I've been pounded by the media before and I'm still rockin' and rollin' and when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not. And the truth is that the gutless, gonadless, milksop politicians are just about to sell out the United States of America because they don't have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to face reality. And reality is that we would never allow any other group of people to have 12 million illegal in this country and turn around and say, "Oh it's ok, ya'll can stay here if you'll just allow us to slap your wrist." And I know that some of you who read this column are saying "Well what's wrong with that?" I'll tell you what's wrong with it. These people could be from Mars as far as we know. We don't know who they are, where they are or what they're up to and the way the Congress is going we're not going to. Does this make sense? Labor force you say? We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well? If these people were from Haiti would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them or if they were from Somalia or Afghanistan? I think not. All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed the border just to try to better their life. They don't show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did. They don't tell you about the living conditions of the Mexican illegal some fat cat hired to pick his crop. I want to make two predictions. No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our streets while the wimps in Washington drag their toes in the dirt and try to figure how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre. No 2: Somebody is going to cross that border with some kind of weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side of the issue. I don't know about you but I would love to see just one major politician stand up and say, "I don't care who I make mad and I don't care how many votes I lose, this is a desperate situation and I'm going to lead the fight to get it straightened out." I don't blame anybody for wanting to come to America , but if you don't respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others? And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes. Please get that other one out of my face. God Bless America Charlie Daniels MY COUNTRY IF IT IS YOURCOUNTRY, SPEAK UP! I am not against immigration - just come through like everyone else Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay yourtaxes; live by the rules; and LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past and GOD BLESS AMERICA! PART OF THE PROBLEM Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone, YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM! Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by people from other countries who came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice? Think about it! All we have to say is, when will Someone do something about MY RIGHTS? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems no one has a problem withthat. "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women - on Christian principles - founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. It is Time for America to Speak up ! This was in my email today! Since it was appropriate to this thread, I thought I would share it.........

Oh my goodness, how does an 11 year old care for a baby. I had my first child at 25 and felt so incompetent and scared of doing something wrong. Poor little girl! I hope everything will turn out OK for her and the baby.........As for the pedophile, he is scum!!

I just read on MSNBC that officials believe Benoit killed his wife and son sometime over the weekend and then killed himself Monday. I have not read how he killed them but the article said all three bodies were in different rooms. Friends became worried after they received some disturbing text messages from Benoit and sent police to the home.

Lauren, I actually noticed that you were much less out-spoken on OH (probably because of the constant threat of an unwarranted attack). It wasn't as though you were discussing a heated issue or anything. You were attacked for trying to participate in a discussion. You made no controversial statements, at least in MHO. This was just my impression and I am not trying to put words in your mouth. You really seemed to me to reel in your highly opinionated and very intelligent personality(which I love by the way). :high5: I don't always agree with you but I respect your opinions. For those of you who are not familiar with OH, it is a VERY INFORMATIVE BOARD. I feel that due to the fact that they have no forum like our R&R, discussions, arguments, debates, and HUGE differences of opinions are all over the board. A thread may start out as a question from a newbie and end up in an all out war between 2 posters about an unrelated topic or something that was said in another thread. No board is perfect although LBT is close:heh:. I enjoy reading posts over there because there is a lot of valuable info. I guess the "walking on eggshells" kind of feeling if you choose to post is just unavoidable. It is a trade off I guess.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
mrspruett replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I remember watching a program on MSNBC during the last election and they were interviewing Kerry and Edwards. One of the questions was-"How much roughly does a gallon of milk cost?" "How about the price of a 6-pack of beer?" Both gave guesses and were waaayyyy off! This is the democrats who are typically the party of the working class right? I am sure the republicans wouldn't have answered any better. lol -
Poll - Democrat or Republican?
mrspruett replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am a registered Democrat but never vote strictly along party lines. The more I think about it and observe, the more I realize that both parties support candidates who are out of touch with the common working-class folks. Most were born into wealth and if not born into it, they have been a part of the elite so long that they have forgotten the struggles of the middle class. I think our whole political system is summed up by saying-- the rich governs the rest of us! JMHO -
Oh and I forgot to add. Every board needs a forum like this to rant, rave, and debate in. It keeps the drama from bleeding into all the other forums.Don't you agree?
-
I lurk over there also and I noticed that you deactivated your membership. I spend most of my time here though LOL. I have never posted at OH. I guess I missed most of the drama but I did see the thread where you were attacked and I am so sorry you had to go through that. They are convinced that those two IDs in question are the same person but we, of course, know they are not. I am most definitely glad you are still active here on LBT. Keep on rantin' and ravin'. Hugs to you.
-
I agree. During the last several years many of the sites I loved went to paid membership. It totally changes the makeup of the board. The vast majority of people leave and it is not the same place as before.

Mapquest------hands down!!

nume130- I really have no advice for you just hugs. I, too, would sacrifice anything for my children and I understand that you do not want to break up their home. Although my marriage is happy and sex is fairly frequent, I have had an unhappy marriage when I was younger. The first marriage ended in divorce and I remember being torn apart by guilt that I broke up my daughter's family. There is never an easy answer. God bless you.

FYI- for those of you who are interested the question of illegals is being debated rather heatedly in the Jerry Fallwell thread. Go figure! LOL
-
I think if we released all the people in our prisons who committed a crime to "have a better life" then we would have a lot of empty cells. We either enforce our laws or we don't. If all the business owners who are giving people day labor and paying tax free were prosecuted, that would be a big help too. Having no tax free wages, no housing, no welfare, no free medical care, or no free education would go a long way in curbing the problem. Our country would become a lot less desirable to people wanting to enter illegally. This is a tough situation so we have to get tough to solve it.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
mrspruett replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
rrod0991- If I read your post correctly, you said your sister was 12 when she had her first child but took care of her kids on her own. How does a 12 year old take care of a baby? They are not old enough to work and support a child. Just asking..... -
I suggest people who feel strongly about people from "third world countries" should sponsor a family who is trying to LEGALLY obtain citizenship. This is one way to help others escape the poverty and persecution of these other countries and no one is committing a crime. As for the illegals, I am tired of supporting them. I should have the right to know that the tax dollars I pay to the U.S. government are not being used to sustain criminals( unless it is in a prison).
-
My mother had a very dear friend who passed away recently. She was originally from Japan. She went through all the normal channels to obtain citizenship years ago. She was very proud of her American citizenship. She and her husband were not wealthy just average working folks. They were also law-abiding citizens. I think that is the difference.
-
I think we are in unity here. Not much difference of opinion. I wholeheartedly agree. This is the USA, we speak English, and we obey our laws! 'nuff said. Deportation is the only alternative to the people that are here illegally. We need to tighten our borders and there is no way illegals should be getting free health care from our tax dollars when we have many American citizens who cannot afford health care. As for the children born here, when a person commits a crime they are not exempt from punishment just because they have a child. The illegals should be the same. When you care so little about your child that you risk your freedom by being a criminal then the kids should be taken from you (or sent back with you to your own country).
