The 6 week liquid diet is just what my doctor does... every Dr. is different it seems and mine just happens to believe that it creates the best success... so I try really really hard to stick to liquids although I did cheat a few times and ate a few pieces of chicken without incidence but for the most part I have water, soup, and protien shakes. It isn't fun but it will make me skinny and I'm determined to feel good about myself for once in my life!

Well, my surgery was Monday Jan. 12, 2009, and I went home that night. I am a full time college gal, so going back to school took me a couple of days, and even then I was having a hard time sitting with my incisions, but in about a week I was feeling close to normal, and now 2 weeks out I feel great! I'm one of the unlucky few on a 6 week liquid diet so that's something to deal with but its been going good! Where are you having your surgery, Houston or SA? I love it here too!

Hello, I saw you were from Houston (I'm in SA) and we are about the same age so I just wanted to wish you good luck pursuing your band!! I just got mine two weeks ago and things are going good!

Hello Kayla! How is life with your band? All of the 1/12 bandsters have a blog going if you want to join. I think Jessica from the thread is the one to email. She is like the brains of the operation and can send you an email invite to join the blog! I hope everything is going well!

Cobra is an extension program for insurance coverage, at least as far as I know. I was covered by united healthcare as a dependent under my parents and when they said they would cover the band it was under the stipulation that I be 23 years old. Well, just so happens that as a dependent, you lose your coverage on your 23rd birthday so they were trying to circle their way out of paying for my band. Thats when I got cobra... basically my parents appealed to them saying I was still a full time college student and I needed my coverage extended. We had to pay alot of money to extend through cobra though... about 4 months for nearly $2000 for coverage alone, then I have coverage for my surgery and they approved me, but it was a couple thousand on top of that for my out of pocket expense on my surgery. It was a good deal, but its not something you can just get as it is an extension of existing coverage. Hope this helps!
