Gone for Good Club - August 2006
CanadaSunshine replied to PhotoNut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
*Bows out gracefully* (*then runs screaming*) Thank you, but I'd better not. August didn't go so well. :cry Besides, I've already cut my plus-sized cheerleader costume up and made it into a quilt. -
LMAO!! I remember trying on some adorable pink lingerie once...it curled up over my belly and I looked like one of the dancing hippos from the Fantasia movie. My mom and I laughed and laughed til it hurt. So that's another one, fat girls are always FUN!!

SOTC thread...Why NOT to post when your angry
CanadaSunshine replied to nursekathy2u's topic in Rants & Raves
Nurse Kathy, I just wanted to tell you I totally understood what you were referring to, when you expressed your frustration and disgust at the petty bickerings that were going on in other threads. I was feeling the same way yesterday and thinking of leaving LBT. I don't trust myself to deal with these people who seem to fuel fights wherever they post. (And I totally agree with you on the "throwing their Christianity into arguments" issue) It's maddening. Personally I haven't vented, for fear of being attacked by others who didn't agree...or attracting those wolves themselves. I just wanted to say you were misunderstood by alot of people, but you stuck around to explain yourself, and even apologized for posting while angry. I think you show some real integrity. I know you've heard it already, but there are alot of wonderful supportive people on LBT. Try to stick it out. It's worth it. I'm behind you girl, (so eventhough you don't want any friends from here, you've got one!) Hey wait! where're you going?! Come back!! Let's be friends...! *Chases Kathy down the street* -

No goal for Christmas yet, but I am hoping to be 180 for Halloween. Ya know...more costume options. LOL Any other halloween buffs? -
Just wondering why so many go to Mexico for banding?
CanadaSunshine replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So true!! Thanks for the reminder. I hope it works.:nervous There are monsters around every corner lately...:cry *sneaks a peek around the corner before tip-toeing away* -

CanadaSunshine replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Talking to ourselves...that's kind of what we where doing to begin with. No one wants to "fight" about it anyway. It was an interesting question. Thanks to those who had some insight into it. -

CanadaSunshine replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I saw no "throwing stones", "knocking your decision", or "coming down on a fellow bandster". She said she respects the fact that you chose not to go to Mexico. I think she is just trying to be sure that negative stereotypes don't prevent people from doing the research themselves because some people DO beleive in the quality of these doctors. Sheesh. -

I don't dare start my own thread. It would end up being Canada Sunshine's Bitchfest or something.:heh: -
Drinking while eating poll
CanadaSunshine replied to K@t's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I, too, am having trouble trying to get my fluids in if I only drink when I am supposed to. I've been drinking with my meals, but I am trying to stop. I would definately say, that in my case, the drinking probably IS slowing my weight loss. I'm not full for very long and I'm losing very slowly. -
Happy August 1st everyone!! This will be our home for the Gone For Good Club – August Challenge. For any newbies out there, the gone for good Club is our way of “banding” together for support and encouragement as we take off those pounds…(I know, cheap pun) …Once each pound is lost, we consider it Gone For Good!!! Weigh ins are on Wednesday in this format: current weight (total loss, this weeks loss) like so: C-350 (-36, -2) This person’s current weight is 350, they have lost 36 lbs so far and they have lost 2 lbs this week. Feel free to join at any time, by posting a brief introduction for yourself and let us know what you are challenging yourself to. Whether you are banded or not, we are very happy to have your company! This is not a competition, but just for a little added incentive to each of us, FunnyDuddies has promised a gift to the biggest “loser”, and I will be awarding a prize to the participant with the most creative exercise idea during the challenge. This month’s challenge will involve keeping a close eye on our BMI’s (Body Mass Index) Here is a link to a BMI calculator so that we can make sure we are all using the same one: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/adult_BMI/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.htm So here’s the challenge: Let’s see how much we can lower our BMI’s over the next few weeks. I want to hear that we are all guzzling our Water, eating healthy, and moving, moving, moving. The more creative the exercise the better! Share your ideas… And we are all going to try to fight those demons who lurk in closets and cupboards…the one’s that make us crave no-no foods and try to convince us to slip into our old habits and negative patterns. We are united, we are strong and these pounds will soon be GONE FOR GOOD! Welcome to the club for August, and good luck!!:clap2: Sunshine PS Just a reminder, when posting on this thread, please remember to take out the check mark on "show signatures". This can be such a long thread, that it gets hard for those on dial up to participate. Let's try to keep it as "clean" as possible. Thanks!!!

12 of those pounds was from our darling friend "Opticrap" and 7 lbs was from the week post op when I couldn't eat anything. I have only dropped 5 pounds on my own, in the 5 weeks that followed. It's sure a nice jump start bonus though. All this loss was before I started any exercise as well. You're going to do great Neenagh. Just keep your spirits high and expectations within reason. I'm excited for you too. You're the first person I've met who came on board as a newbie that I could actually talk to from the "banded side of the fence". I look forward to welcoming you to bandland. LOL Come on in, the water's fine!!!:biggrin1: ps The constipation was totally my own fault. I should have phoned my doc's office and they would have told me to take something. They didn't know I was constipated til the day of my surgery. It really slowed my recovery by alot just because of something so trivial. Completely my bad on that one. So don't even worry about that happening to you!!
-
Detail? You sure? LOL I'm trying not to get a reputation for being a total whiner... haha Well things are good. I eventually pooped!*snicker* and ever since that horrible post-op bout with constipation, I'm like a little kid who has just learned to potty...I'm thrilled with myself every single time I go. Haha, I'm such a dork, I know. I still have a swollen vein that hurts like a son of a gun on my wrist where I got my IV. To tell you the truth, I don't think my overall impression of the surgery experience has anything positive to it, so I haven't had much to ad to the posts I've seen recently. I wish I had some positive feedback to share...but I hope to eventually!! I've really enjoyed keeping up with everyone's progress and efforts. You guys RAWK! I've noticed that I may relay what I learn on LBT a little too often, cuz alot of my conversations with DH are starting to sound like "This one thread, on LBT..." reminicent of Band camp. HAHA Just goes to show how much everyone's advice and experiences mean to me. LOVE YOU GUYS! :clap2: Sunshine

Is it still hijacking if it gets hijacked from the hijackers?

Ziplock omelette? Whazzat?

You got a whopping 5ccs to start out?! Wow. That seems really aggressive. I'm very envious. I just got my first fill as well. Had to plan DH's holidays to correspond with my appointment so that he could take me the 850 kms+ to Calgary for my fill with Dr. Mitchell. He says he used to give 2ccs for out of towners but stopped because too many came back over full.:paranoid So he only gives 1cc now as a rule for first fills. 1 lousy cc. HMPH. I told him I can eat bread, I can eat steak... Oh well. 1 friggen cc is better than none I guess. *sigh* So how's the 3.5ccs treating you so far? Are you feeling restriction? Thanks for sharing your experiences. (And pardon my blatant self pity. LOL)

:biggrin1: OMG!! LAUGHING SO HARD IT HURTS!!!!!
-
:omg: Oh no! Here we go again...:faint: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
-Don't get caught in those awkward exchanges with people who are "crushing" on you. (Well, much less anyway) -Don't have to call "shotgun" b/c people naturally don't want to get stuck in the back seat with you. -Get to park in the "Expecting Mom" parking spots at the mall...cuz let's face it, if people are going to rudely ask when you're due, doesn't that entitle you to the spot? lol
-
I hope everyone can see the tongue-in-cheek nature of this thread. I read...I laughed...I quietly may have blushed a little at the little bits of myself I saw in the posts. I hope no one is taking this as serious or malicious. The posters are VERY supportive and wonderful people. Wonderful, FUNNY people. So long as no one get defensive, why not have a little laugh at ourselves? I think this thread is funny as hell. Rant on.

CanadaSunshine replied to CanadaSunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome to the club Diva Girl! and congratulations on your success so far :biggrin1: If you have any questions about the challenge, please feel free to private message me anytime. Paul, I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. *whew*! and how's Dawg holding up... You still out there Dawg? I hope you are feeling better soon. :cry My mouth hurts just thinking about it. So how's everyone's exercise efforts coming along? What have we been doing to shake those pounds? (Ha ha, I say "we" as though I haven't been eating cheezies and smokies and sitting around on my holidays this week.) Sunshine -

OH NO! I've got a cold and my surgery is MONDAY!
CanadaSunshine replied to GE Mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't panic just yet Hon, it may be a side effect..it also may be allergies...or just something in the air, etc. Hold tight til tomorrow and see how you feel. I, too, came down with a miserable cold just days before my surgery...I was terrified that I had wasted all that money on a very long plane ride, hotels, time off for DH etc, etc...only to find that I was better by morning. It was really wierd. I don't even have allergies, (mind you they say that allergies can come on at any time and can change every year) *shrugs* So who knows? I truly hope that you aren't getting a cold. Try to rest up, and keep us posted! Sending healthy thoughts your way, Sunshine -
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG:omg: :omg: Are you some kind of masochist?! You crack me up!!! must go lie down now...so tired from laughing...
-
LMAO!!! I keep those flushable wipes on the back of the potty for emergencies...maybe your issue might benefit from one of those? I'll warn you ahead of time, though...they always feel FREEZING cold on your "bits". LOL ...but I guess that's what you're kinda lookin for... Oh man, I am blushing...this is so 4th grade of me. tee hee!!!
