Can't Figure This All Out…Need Help!
NewNewMe replied to ItsTheNewMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try starting your day with a protein shake. That helped me a lot at that stage. Make sure you get you fluids in. I find room temp water easier to drink. I was completely exhausted from 3 weeks out until around 6 weeks. I think this is normal. And also usually when the weight loss has a stall. It will get better! Just keep working on finding what works best for you. -
Hair Loss Post-Op
NewNewMe replied to Life is Good in WY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just hit 5 months and it is still coming out steadily. My hair is soooooo thin now. It feels really weird. And there is not much to put in a pony tail when I work out. I don't have bald spots, but my hair is very thin and unmanageable. I keep hoping it will stop soon. -
6 months post and starting to get nauseous of the mornings.
NewNewMe replied to heav85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was my first thought too! Take an over the counter test. Even with the pill it could happen. If not that. When is the last time you ear before bed? You may want to eat something later so your tummy is not so empty when you wake. -

Tell me about weight stall at 3weeks post op
NewNewMe replied to mimorison's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens to us all. We all say the same thing - "how can I eat so little and not lose weight"? We all get obsessed with it. We all think we are doing something wrong or it doesn't work for me. Then we all see the scale start to move again. Just be patient. You are not alone! I think everyone should hide their scales between week 3 and 6. -
Wondering how April 2015 sleevers are doing ?
NewNewMe replied to Dar61's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am feeling great! Down 62lbs. What I can eat seems to very. Anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 cup. Depending on what it is. For things like steak just a few bites. So glad I did this. It feels so good to not be driven by food. If anything it is more of a chore to eat now. -
Band to sleeve...gaining weight
NewNewMe replied to calitexan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is a myth and an excuse. Show me a fat anorexic. Or someone who starved to death but is fat. They don't exist. Yes, your metabolism will slow down for a while but you will lose weight. And you certainly won't gain any. -
Band to sleeve...gaining weight

I agree. I would cut the carbs. Protein first then if you have room veggies. -
Band to sleeve...gaining weight
NewNewMe replied to calitexan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How much can you eat? I could only eat 1/4 cup of food at that time. I can't do much more than that now. You may want to nix the protein drinks and eat high protein meals. -
Band to sleeve...gaining weight
NewNewMe replied to calitexan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! How do you manage 1200 calories a day? I am 4 and 1/2 months post op and can't get in more than 800-900. Are you eating a lot of carbs? -
How much time to take off?
NewNewMe replied to Heather Feather's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I took one week off. -
I gained weight during that time. The Dr took the fluid out of my band.
-
It took a few weeks for me. But, they had to approve both the removal of my band and my sleeve.

Help! Stomach pains...3 weeks post-op sleeve
NewNewMe replied to flipper72's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do you think it had anything to do with your surgery? Are you on high cholesterol drugs by any chance? My brother in law had similar issues and it was due to those drugs. I hope you feel better soon. -

Dump that BF! If he doesn't love you the way you are he is not worth the time of day!
-
Maybe you should see someone. That sounds like an eating disorder. Your not usIng the amazing tool you were given. You are abusing yourself. Please talk to a doctor.

I am approaching the 3 month mark for my surgery and today while washing my hair in the shower I had clumps of hair come out in my hands. Fun fun! Maybe it will show as weight loss on the scale LOL.
-
Saw my doc today. He said it is not permanent and new growth will begin. He said don't waste money on supplements or shampoos. It will come back on its own. I guess I need to be patient and see.

It has been a month and it is still falling out like crazy. I don't have bald spots but my hair is getting really thin. Will this stop eventually?

Worried about regrets
NewNewMe replied to AmyNLaynie6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no regrets other than I wish I had done it sooner. I actually eat out more often now, I just take a leftovers home. I used to be afraid of eating out knowing I would ruin whatever diet I was on. Now I go to restaurants and easily choose healthy options. My head hunger no longer rules my choices. I still love to cook. I just eat much smaller portions and I freeze a lot. Grumpy is the opposite of how I feel. I feel energetic and finally at peace that I have done something that is actually working. The peace knowing I can't suddenly take focus off my diet and regain all my lost weight in a couple weeks. Your two year old will also benefit from the healthy choices you will make after surgery. Good luck! -
Feeling of food stuck in chest

Steps necessary for insurance coverage of Lap band to sleeve
NewNewMe replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That depends on your insurance. I had Cigna. I had to do four months of dr assisted diet/weigh in. See a NUT, get a psych eval, and get my primary doc to write a letter that he approved. It took about 3 weeks after that to get approval.
