Has anyone had to deal with a revsiion... I had the Lap Band in 2005, whcih had slipped and now given the option between the Sleeve or another Band. I decided the Sleeve and it is going to the insurance (UHC). Just curios if I would have to go thru the evals. for the revision?

Everything I've read here is pretty much what I've been hearing all along... I have had my band since Sept '05, so I don't think I remeber how it feels not to be restricted. I guess one of my concearns is that I have gotten so use to this feeling that once its gone I'm going to be able to eat anything I want. Right now I know what to stay away from and what I can get down, when that feeling is gone it could be open season for everything. To me that was a plus for the band, but at the same time it will be nice to get that feeling of all ways be stuck gone.

I am in the same boat as alot of ya'll. I have had my band since Sept of '05 with pretty good results. Started having problems with it after a few years and gave up and had it pretty much emptied. This past April found another Dr. that I liked and started seeing him for fills, but now my band has slipped causing severe reflux and he is suggesting removing the band and going with the sleeve. Just trying to decide if I want to go back with the band or go with the sleeve? Then insurance approval. Sounds like most people are in favor of the sleeve... Anything I should know before I make this decision?

You said you did yours thru Dr Scarborough. Thats who I am seeing. I have a Lap Band right now but it has slipped and causing some problems. He is suggesting the Sleeve. My question is, since you have worked with his office, how long did it take to get insurance approval and then how long did it take to get all the evaluations done... Thanks for the help and good luck.

Bands eroded, slipped or still successful bands?
Cmstant replied to PamRN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had band slippage and was given the option of a band revision or gastric sleeve... Not sure which way I want to go. I was told that revisions were not as successful as the original and also I've had my band since 05 and developed severe reflux because of the slip and wondering if I would continue to have the reflux if I go with the revision? -
Research: Bariatric Surgery Revisions Carry Greater Risks Than Initial Procedure

I am looking into a lap band revision, but was also given the option of Gastric Sleeve... Was wanting to get opinions on what people think of the sleeve compared to a band revision? -
I am trying to decide between Lap Band or Gastric Sleeve. Actually getting my band replaced with a new one or Gastric Sleeve... I found out recently after visiting several Dr's that my band has slightly slipped and causing terriable reflux and pain. I am using Dr Terry Scarborough in Houston and he has given me the option. Any opinions?

I know you have heard on the news of the rabid bats in Houston... Willis being so close to Houston, I would go call the Dr. right now and maybe even go to the ER... If you haven't heard there are at least 2 positive cases in the last month. Safe over sorry.... Call a DR.
-
How can you tell the difference? I know this has been discussed, but I can't find the thread... I just had a fill a few days ago and since then its hard to even keep liquids down. I figure the band is too tight, but thought I would ask... By the way I have 2.5cc.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
Cmstant replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Finally made it total of 101 lbs lost in 8 months. -
I have tried about 4 or 5 different Dr's in the Houston area and all are over $100... I had Dr Spiegel also. I have gone as far as promising them at least 4 referrals if they would do my fill for copay. I have about 6 friends either already approved by Spiegel or ready to go thru the procedure and still can't get them to accept me. Going back to Spiegel to finish my weight lose. I figure I need only 2 or 3 more fills before I am done. I am going to just pay the $100 a time and just get done asap.

Looking for someone who does fills in the Houston area that will accept UHC... I Had an appointment to see him tomorrow, but a nurse called and said it will cost $100 for a fill? Now I don't know what the going rate is but this sounds expensive to me especially since I have been paying $10 a fill. Any info will help.
