Hi, My band malfunctioned. The tube disconnect from the port and is hanging out in the body. It causes abdominal pain. The insurance company approved to have it removed and get a sleeve. Hopefully everything can be done in one surgery. Sent from my SM-T820 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am having a revision too. My date is February 19 and hopefully I can have everything done at one time. My band had a malfunction and must be removed. I had a CT scan done and I don't think the band did any damage to my stomach. The insurance company approved the surgery. Sent from my SM-T820 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am approaching my one year mark and I have only lost 35 lb. I have had two fills and have 6 cc in my band. Some days I can eat alot and some days I can't. I met with a dietician and she explained I am not eating enough of the right food. My calorie intake was good but I was still eating too much fat. I am struggling but I feel great. I am down a size & a half, I look better, Sex is better, my energy level is better, my knees don't hurt, I don't snore anymore, I can wear a regular size underwear, ..... I can go on and on thinking about what a differnce 35 lbs made to my life. I am working on my diet and working out more. It will take time to get my act together. I have learn to love myself and take baby steps to improve myself. I will lose the 100 pounds I need to lose. I take one day at a time and try to enjoy every minute. Don't be so hard on yourself. Keep trying different things until you find what works for you and your life. Good Luck

Hi Gaye I have not been able to make my fill appoinments. I am planning to get one this month. it's totally my fault, but I am proud of myself for still losing and not gaining any weight. There are some foods that down go down well and I avoid them (such as french fries, crackers, dry bread, etc). I make sure I eat three meals and snacks.

I am having the same issue. I talking to the dietican at the dr. office and she told me I was not eating enough food to lose weight. When I add more fruits and veggies to my diet I the scale moves. I think I am doing good for someone who has had only one fill. People look at me and thinks I lost alot of weight. I am happy with the results and will keep working the band. Congrats to everyone who aare losing.

Anyone else out there OK with losing slowly with an unfilled or small filled band?
DMJC replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one month out of surgery and have lost 13 lbs. I have good restriction and no side effects. I eat anything I want, just smaller potions. I go out to eat with friends and politely smile when someone notices how much I don’t eat. I am enjoying how I feel and am not chained to food. I don't want a fill if it is going to change how good things are now. -
how much would you help??????!!!!!!!!!
DMJC replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can't help people who don't want to be helped. One day she will wake up and see the error in her ways. Be there to help when she ask for it. Take care of yourself and good luck on your weight lost. -

I need to work on getting my psychological Evaluation. Who did you see for your psy eval? Do you have any pointers for the selecting a doctor and being stress free for the eval? Thank you for answering my questions; you are truly a blessing to me. Have a wonderful day. Donya

Good Evening, I hope all is well in your life. Thank you again for answering my questions. I have a few questions about your experiences with fills. Did you get the regular lap band or the realize band? How many fills did you need to get good restriction? Did you have to see a nutritionist? And lastly, has your diet changed drastically? Donya

Thanks for the rely. Did you need the whole three weeks to recover? I am a teacher and I am trying to get my surgery during my next week long break. Did you make any major changes in your diet before your operation?

Hi Vzghj3, I am in the beginning stage. I have Blue Care Network. I just started the process two weeks ago. So far I have · Seen my primary care Dr. for a referral. She wants to review my complete medical history before she will give me a referral. · I have checked with my insurance. They will pay as long as I have a referral and I go to a Dr. from the Bariatric center of excellence. · I have selected a bariatric Dr. who is part of the center of excellence and have an appointment scheduled for a seminar on Feb. 4. The Coordinator at the Dr. office told me as long as my BMI is over 50, I don’t have to do the six month diet thing. My BMI is 51. The Coordinator is also named three other papers I needed (psy eval, a swallow test, and I forgot the third one). I have a lot of question, but I am going to go slow. Right now my biggest problem is dealing with people who are against the surgery. I am having a terrible time dealing with my weight and it is getting harder everyday. I am 5 feet tall and am very active so I do not look as big as I am. People are shocked when I tell my weight. Even my primary care Dr. told me to try harder. I could write a book on all the programs I tried and the money I wasted trying to lose weight. Should I stop telling people or just tune the negative ones out? Thanks for you time, Donya

Hello, I just made the decision to get the band surgery to aid in my quest to lose weight. I just turned 41 and have about 130 lbs to lose. I have been exercising for the last two years and have not lost more than 10 lbs. I have lost several inches over my entire body but the numbers on the scale has not moved much. I have been researching this for several years and I feel now is the right time to do it. I have selected a doctor and checked my insurance. I am working on my referral from my primary care doctor. If everything goes right I should be right for surgery in early March. I would like to talk to other people in my area who have pointers or tips for me. I will be going to Dr. Wood at Harper Hospital in the DMC.
