Hi Suzette, My surgon told me that if the liver isnt shrunk enough they cant get to the stomach to place the band. I know there are a few people who are on the boards that didnt shrink their liver enough so basically the dr. opened them up and closed them right back up without the band. :glare: That is my worst fear and so I know how you feel. I have been on my low carb diet for the last week and have done pretty good for the most part but yesterday morning I had Cereal for Breakfast. :huh2: I was mad at myself for slipping like that but I just know I need to get right back to it and not do it again. I am going to start doing what your doing with the two shakes and one meal. I hope that will get me to where I need to be. I guess my advice for you would be the same. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of or tried ZOIC protein drinks. On a site I buy from regularly they have 30 five star reviews. They seem to be pretty good nutrition wise also. They have 110 calories, 1g fat, 5 carbs, 21g protein.

Hey!! I am also on the 23rd. I am just now starting to get nervous. Mostly im really worried that I wont have my liver shrunk enough. Im doing the low carb diet but I didnt get a ton of instruction on it and am worried I might not be doing it right. Im going to start doing a couple of Protein shakes and a meal a day though and I hope that will help. I have lost some weight so far but my scale sucks so I cant be sure how much. Im guessing like 5 pounds.

So my date for the surgery is Jan 23rd. Less than 10 days away! I am so excited!!! Ive been thinking so much lately about all the things I will be able to do after I get some of this weight off of me. You know, ive been overweight since my daughter was born 6 years ago and I feel like I have missed out on doing so many things with her already. She always wants to go out and do things with me like sledding of going to the park but im always to tired or lazy. Well not anymore:thumbup:. I am going to lose some weight and start living life with my daughter. Im going to take her skiing, sledding, bike riding, and many more places. Im tired of her going to her dads for the weekend and then coming home to tell me how much fun he is . Well, like I said.....that is soon to be the past!!!!!!:cool2: I cant wait for my new life!!!

Hey Bella, Very glad to hear that your surgery and recovery is going so well!! Thanks for talking about the hiccups too. Thats something I hadnt heard but will be glad to know if it happens to me. Sorry to hear that your hospital experience was so horrible. You should deffinitely complain....although if its horrible all the time im sure they have tons of complaints. I work for a hospital and there is just no excuse for rude people who dont do their job.

Hey everyone!! Its very cool that there is a small group of us 23rd-ers forming. I just wanted to say that I read your blogs and you both had some cool things to say! I even had to go figure out how to start my own afterwards. So, how has this process been for you all? I know mine was super quick. Just a couple of months ago I started researching the lap band and decided it would be perfect for me (Years ago I went and talked to a dr about the bypass and I didnt feel like it was right for me). I checked with insurance and they didnt cover it so I decided to find a dr that I could afford. I found a dr in Denver (2 hours away from me) who only takes self pay and who had a pretty good rate. So I started looking around to see if I could get a loan first. When I found out I could I made the consult appointment with my dr. That was Dec. 23rd and now Jan 23rd im having surgery. Like I said.....very quick.

Hey!! Im the 23rd also. Im so excited just as I know you both are. Ive been on my pre-op diet for 4 days now and so far so good. Im just doing the low carb kinda thing. We should all keep in touch and see how recovery is going.

Are the gummy vitamins ok to take with the lap band? I love the gummy vitamins but would be afraid they would get stuck.

I have told lots of people. I am so excited about it and know that its the right thing for me to do so I dont feel any need to keep it a secret. I havent told everyone I work with but I might after I have it.

Happy New Year!!!! Hi to all the New Years Hotties!! I am getting banded on January 23rd by Dr. K in Denver Colorado. I will be starting my pre-op diet on the 13th and will have my pre-op appt on the 22nd. I live a couple hours outside of Denver so they have done everything very quickly for me. I had my consult on Dec. 23rd and they scheduled my surgery the first day. I am so excited but so nervous at the same time.
