I take mucinex D fairly regularly also. I have bad drainage and it kind of wads up in my throat and ends up stuck and causes problems and I have to get unfilled to get rid of it. Mucinex D helps prevent that.

There are plenty of tylenol cold products out there. The most common NSAIDS are aleve, motrin, naproxen, advil, etc. Tylenol is not an NSAID. I like tylenol cold. Mucinex D is a good decongestant. It's located behind the pharmacy counter because it has sudaphed in it. Make sure to bring your ID with you if you go for that.

AngelWhisper replied to john47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Been there. Done that. Still stupid enough to do it thinking it might work this time. lol -
Can't imagine a lifetime of this
AngelWhisper replied to ZACHYSMOM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem. It turned out it was excessive swelling. I ended up back in the hospital for one night to get fluids because I was dehydrated. -

I smell like protein shakes!
AngelWhisper replied to Boss Lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's great! I went out with her the other night after she went and had a drink with a friend and I was like did you drink a malibu and coke?! And she did. I guess some people emit the smell through their pores or something. -

lol! I haven't experienced it but I do have a friend who smells exactly like the alcohol she drinks when we go out and have a few drinks. It's hilarious. -
Im trying to find a shake I can stomach. Need Opinions.

Muscle Milk Light vanilla creme or banana creme mixed with milk, frozen strawberries, and splenda. I despise everything else I've ever tried. -
When did it hit you?
AngelWhisper replied to elgrad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt it when I woke up in PACU also. I remember waking up screaming at them to get it out of me because it hurt so bad. I don't notice it so much now I guess because I'm used to it being there. -
super tight from post nasal drip- do i get an unfill?
AngelWhisper replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you feel the post nasal drip kinda sticking in your throat? I have constant post nasal drip and I just had a cold and almost had to have what little fill I have taken out because of it. I have found that mucinex or mucinex d seems to thin the mucous to a point where it doesn't plug up the opening to the stomach so to speak. I take zyrtec every day and mucinex as needed and it does the trick. -
Must everything be sugar free??
AngelWhisper replied to abercchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. I don't personally subscribe to the sugar free low carb thing. It may work for some but there are sooooo many foods that make me wanna puke when I taste them that I'd hardly ever be able to eat at all if I didn't have carbs and some sugar in my diet. I'm not saying I go out and scarf down a pint of ben & jerry's either. I think there's a happy medium for everything. -
From the depths of hell to living off the grid.

As far as I remember (I'm a certified pharmacy tech) the packaging for cymbalta says not to cut, crush, chew, or open. I would check with your pharmacist just to be sure. Like RM, I can take pills just fine too. You may not ever have a problem. -
From the depths of hell to living off the grid.
AngelWhisper replied to kl8nkelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If the pill is time released (ER, XL, XR, SR, etc) it generally cannot be crushed or split. It ruins the time release coating and you end up getting all the medicine at once instead of over the course of the day. Always check with your pharmacist first if you're not sure. -
Protien Shakes??
AngelWhisper replied to Fluffy420's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hated everything I ever tried except vanilla creme or banana creme muscle milk light blended with milk, frozen strawberries, and a little splenda. -
Not overeating but getting enough protein? Need help!
AngelWhisper replied to joshesgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use vanilla creme or banana creme muscle milk light and blend it up with milk and frozen strawberries. Tastes like a smoothie. It's great. -
Who Wants To Share Some Recent NSVs??
AngelWhisper replied to Catherine55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The other day I didn't have any clean pants except these size 24 jeans that were made huge. I put em on and had a good 6 inches of room and of course my belt was too big so I just walked around in those pants all day. I got out of the back seat of a car and my pants fell to the ground. Embarrassing NSV but a NSV all the same! -
Every1's watchin what i eat & i hate it!
AngelWhisper replied to MsFab1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get it occasionally from my mother who had bypass. She refuses to understand that I do not dump with a band. Our surgeon has explained it, I've explained it, I've sent her links that explain it and I still sometimes get OMG YOU'RE EATING THAT? Other times she's like hey! let's go get some ice cream! Or hey! your dad and I stopped at the ice cream place and got you a large cone! It makes no sense at all. -
I feel like I was punched in my stomach
AngelWhisper replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mucinex and Mucinex D are pills and you can't crush them because they're extended release. If your doctor ok's it but doesn't want you to swallow the pill check with him or your pharmacist and see if they can recommend anything liquid. -

When you talk to your Dr. tomorrow ask if you can try a decongestant. I've been taking mucinex twice a day and it's really helping with the mucus in my throat. -
Muscle Milk Lite is the only thing I found that I liked. I had to do optifast for my 2 week preop diet and not only did it taste awful it affected my teeth in a bad way. I had constant tooth pain until I stopped it.

AngelWhisper replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is that feeling in your throat at the top of your throat? I get a feeling in the top of my throat like there's a bunch of stuff sitting there. Turns out it's from my allergies and post nasal drip. Very gross. -
I'm a little confused about this dilated pouch business. I saw my surgeon today because I've been having really bad acid reflux. My last fill was May 20th and I was perfectly fine up until the last 2ish weeks. I kept getting stuck and having acid and the feeling sometimes associated with acid reflux of the ball right in the back of the throat. If I took some tums or pepcid prior to eating I'd be fine up until the last few days. My surgeon said that acid reflux is a sign of being too tight and that she thinks my pouch may be dilated because of me being too tight. She completely unfilled me and put me on just liquids for 2 weeks (ugh) and I'm scheduled for a barium swallow on Monday morning. How did I end up being too tight weeks after the last fill? Has anyone else had this happen and did it clear up after liquids and an unfill?

I felt better for all of a day. My surgeon is telling me because I have a realize band there's 2cc that they can never take out. Never heard that before. She put 1cc in and I was back in the office less than an hour later with the same symptoms. She took half out and I was fine. Now I'm right back to where I started. I'm seriously considering getting this thing out of me and getting a sleeve. I told her this and she said "well if your sleeve is too tight we can't fix it! it's permanent!". I have never ever ever heard of a "too tight" sleeve.

What do Pb's feel like?
AngelWhisper replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful drinking when something is stuck. In my experience it just lodges it in there some more. -
My drinks of choice since I can't really have malibu and coke that much anymore are malibu and orange juice, malibu and pineapple, malibu and simply orange with mango, bahama mama's, a very rare pina colada, and long island iced teas without a ton of coke in them. Olive Garden also makes a strawberry fresco which is just lemonade and smirnoff citrus vodka. Delicious!
