How much can you drink?
AngelWhisper replied to ebar822's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can drink pretty much the same amount I did preband, just obviously not as fast. Although, I have caught myself chugging things when I'm thirsty and it doesn't hurt but I still don't try it purposely just in case I damage something. -
I am so tired of liquids
AngelWhisper replied to derbin247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh I feel your pain. My surgeon required 4 weeks of liquids. I ended up being told to start pureeds a week early because I kept dry heaving and my blood sugar kept plummeting and I was getting no protein at all and I can't tolerate those nasty protein junk things they try to pass off as good. Ever since I started solid foods I haven't been dry heaving or nauseous at all. It gets better! -
Carbs, cals, and protein

I've always wondered that! The other thing I've always wondered is how you're supposed to count calories if you eat out somewhere. It's not like the restaurant brings a nutrition facts sheet with your order. I have so much to learn! -
This is gonna sound so gross but I thought I had liquids stuck in my throat also. Turned out I had a lot of crap in my lungs from anesthesia and the tube and everything and I randomly hacked up all the mucus by the end of the week. It was really nasty but after I got it out I felt fine. I would give the doctor a call just to see what they have to say though.

chewable multi vitamin advice
AngelWhisper replied to Dee66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went with Centrum orange chewables too. They're not great but I originally tried watermelon vitaband and it tasted like my dog's treats smell. Absolutely awful! -
What a bitter pill...
AngelWhisper replied to rathsog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jello pudding worked for me until I gave up and broke the pills into 4ths. I can't stomach liquid medications AT ALL so I got the tylenol jr strength rapid dissolving tabs. I got the bubblegum flavored rite aid brand and they taste great. I think the tylenol brand come in grape. -
Nintendo thinks I'm sexy!

It comes with little extender things for the board also if you're on carpet. It weighs me fine if I use those on it on carpet. -
Sorry if this is TMI but I have to ask! I have PCOS and I'm on birth control so I only get a period 4 times a year. I also have endometriosis. I get hideous cramps to the point where I'm completely laid out. I double over in pain, etc. The only thing that took the edge off was a lot of NSAIDs, mainly diclofenac and 800mg of ibuprofen. Now that I'm banded I obviously can't take these medications and I'm scared of what the first period is going to bring. Tylenol, midol, and other products that aren't NSAID's do NOT touch the pain at all. For those of you who have PCOS and bad cramps and everything, what do you take for the pain now that you're banded?

What do you take for cramps?
AngelWhisper replied to AngelWhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doc doesn't have any problems with you taking this because it's an NSAID? I'll check with my surgeon because if it works and it's allowed I'll definitely try it if I can get it. -

I'm hoping the weight loss relieves some of it too. Although, I'm not confident that it will. Every female in my family thin or fat has these problems. I'm cursed! -
Do you get sick of other people.......
AngelWhisper replied to lacasst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh. My mom had bypass and now that I have a band she micromanages my eating habits. I keep trying to tell her that I know how big of a bite I can manage, and it's not necessarily the same as what she can manage. EVERYTIME I eat around her she's like "chew it up good now! don't forget to chew it all up!" What am I? 2 years old? She also doesn't understand that I don't get dumping syndrome so yes, I can eat that stupid little cookie and not worry about it. She also freaks out because I'm of the belief that I will not deprive myself of something that I want and I will not tell myself I can never have something again. She also doesn't understand that because I have no fill yet I'm still restricted, but probably not as much as I should be so I can eat a little more than she can with bypass. But, you can't tell her any of that because she had bypass and is the absolute authority on WLS! So annoying! -
Anyone else drinking while eaing?
AngelWhisper replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way you do. Although, my surgeon says to avoid it where possible just because it pushes the food through quicker and makes you less full. She never said anything about the pouch stretching either. -

LOL I wish I could do the whole out of sight out of mind thing. I'll actually go get a bottle of Water. I ate out for the first time since surgery on Saturday and my best friend slapped my hand every time I reached for my glass. Unfortunately, she can't follow me around and beat me up every time I try to take a drink. -
food gets cold while eating slow
AngelWhisper replied to pioneer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ARGH I know. I hate really hot foods and always made my food just warm. Now I have to make it really hot so it stays warm by the time I'm done eating. It's highly annoying. -

AngelWhisper replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, yeah I do. I'm only about a month and a half out and I'm having a really hard time trying to learn not to do it. Sometimes when I'm chewing and chewing and chewing I just HAVE to take a small drink because my mouth is drying out and the food isn't mushing up. -
Post Op day 1 question
AngelWhisper replied to AirMech74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas-x didn't do much for me either but it did take a little bit of the edge off so I could actually move without feeling like I was about to explode. I never got the shoulder pain but the pain in my abdomen and chest more than made up for it. Word to the wise: once you start getting in more soups and stuff NEVER trust a fart! I had to change clothes quite often because I was crazy enough to trust the fart. -
Ate too much 1 week post op.
AngelWhisper replied to Bandnerd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that feeling like I had to burp but couldn't for 2 weeks after my surgery. It was so incredibly painful I broke into tears a few times. I thought my insides were going to explode. That does pass in time though, thankfully. -
I'm sooooooo hungry
AngelWhisper replied to HeavensAngel1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL I'm 5 weeks out and all I want is a chicken caesar salad. I thought I was crazy! -
I agree about the whole NEVER eating certain things again. I asked my surgeon how many of her patients have trouble with bread. Her response was "All of them. I make them tight enough so they can't eat bread". I walked out of there, looked at my mom and I said there is no way she is tightening me to the point where I CAN'T eat something. My mom, having had gastric bypass by the same surgeon, totally understood that. My problem was never so much with what I ate but how much I was eating. I didn't stop at full, I stopped at stuffed. Hopefully with the band I won't be able to do that.

Malibu & Coke Cheesesteak Sprite or soda of any kind SALAD! omg I want a grilled chicken caesar so bad and I can't have it. I'm still on mushies/soft solids.

One of the nurses that works with the hospital where I had my surgery said that she's seen some cases of the realize band still having fluid in them from when the Dr. tested it to make sure it was a good band. People come back in and the Dr.'s take the fluid out and they're totally fine. Definitely contact the Dr.

Frequent nausea and dry heaves?
AngelWhisper posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3.5 weeks out from being banded. Over the last week I've experienced extreme nausea and a lot of dry heaves. I saw my Dr. on Tuesday and she prescribed phenergan but otherwise wasn't too concerned. She also keeps chalking up my ailments to "nerves" which is partially true but not entirely. I just constantly feel like I'm going to vomit and I dry heave occasionally for 5-10 minutes at a time. I thought it was an antibiotic I was taking but I haven't had that for 2 days and I'm still sick. Has anyone else had this happen? Did it pass? I can't stand having to live like this! -
Frequent nausea and dry heaves?
AngelWhisper replied to AngelWhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a fill I'm beginning to think it's acid. Chewing a lot of tums seems to make it stop. I'll ask my doctor about it Friday when I see her. -

I thought that but it happens with clear and full liquids too. -
How do you take non-liquid medications?
AngelWhisper replied to Holabbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Restless. I would definitely ask your surgeon before you try anything though just to get their input. Also, talk to your pharmacist about what other medication options you have. From what I've seen as a pharmacy tech most time released medications are just more expensive forms of the non time release versions. You'll have to take them more than once a day instead of once a day like the time release but you might be able to save some money.
