    Spirometer???

Yup. It's used to reduce the risk of pneumonia if I remember correctly.

    Gross----Vomiting (not PBing)

I had the same thing happen with a stomach virus. I was heaving and everything but nothing came up. I never thought to ask my surgeon about it.

    I got stuck!

Chew things you don't think really need to be chewed too! I keep forgetting I have "first bite syndrome" in the mornings and I go to eat a piece of egg or a spoonful of cereal or a piece of muffin and it sticks if I don't chew that stuff. Highly annoying first thing in the morning!
  4. I had the surgery over my winter break so I had a good 3 or so weeks to prepare and I had complications so I wouldnt've been able to go back. I would suggest that you talk to your professors and let them know you're having abdominal surgery and that there's a possibility of you missing some classes and see if you can't get some of the material in advance, so you can be prepared if any complications do arise. The one thing that bothered me being back in school was sitting up against the stupid desk. It kept hitting me right in the port site!

    people...!?

:tongue_smilie: What the heck? I wanna know how this kind of information gets spread around or if people just make assumptions.

    people...!?

A couple people I know thought this too! They were like OMGOMG let me see your port! So I lifted my shirt up and they were very disappointed.

    Stuck episode

I'm hoping that's the case. I've gotten acid reflux with certain foods my entire overweight life, not anything major but very annoying.

    Stuck episode

I get that a lot. Turns out in my case it's acid reflux. Chew some tums or something and see if that takes it away.

    people...!?

    Wow. That's just...wow.
  10. Is it possible to lose restriction when battling strep throat? I've read about post nasal drip clogging (for lack of a better term) bands but I am HUNGRY! Like I could eat a cow hungry. Anyone else experience this?
  11. All the small ones came off fine but the big one refused to come off. It became one with my skin, my surgeon eventually took it off for me at my 4 week followup. You shouldn't really need bandaids to cover them up though. I was sent home with just steristrips covering mine but when in doubt call your surgeon's office.
  12. I feel better now. All the nurses in the hospital were like you must be doing it wrong! and looked at me like I was absolutely insane.
  13. My recovery was pretty crappy too. I had surgeries and general anesthesia before but never abdominal surgery, it was god awful. I know it's REALLY hard to keep liquids down especially with post op swelling. I had what my surgeon called "excessive" swelling and I ended up readmitted for dehydration. They suggested that I try to use a medicine cup or a dixie cup and drink those every 15 minutes to half hour or so to try to get at least some Fluid in. :crying: I think I'm stupid or something. I do NOT understand at all how this works. My best friend is an RN and tried to explain it to me, the nurses in the hospital tried to explain it to me and it didn't work at all. Can you explain how this is supposed to work?! I'm like the only person who just doesn't get it.

    Water making you nauseous?

I'm 4 months out and still get nauseous if I drink too much plain water. It makes me feel like a water balloon. I try to switch it up between plain water, minute maid light products, crystal light, propel, and low cal G2 (not always the best choice).

    What can't you eat?

I haven't found anything that I can't eat as long as it's chewed well. I eat breads, pastas, dry meats, etc.
  16. I had to do full liquids for close to 4 weeks. I got progressed a little sooner though because my blood sugar went insane. I've had the pain under the rib cage as well even 4 months out if I overeat. My mom and aunt who had gastric bypass have the same thing. I think it's fairly common from what I've read and experienced for pain to happen around that area if you do overeat a little bit. Talk to your surgeon, see what they say, but I wouldn't get too worried about it at this point. Good luck!

    pain meds

In the hospital I had a PCA with dilaudid. Hydrocodone does not work for me at all and never has with any past surgeries so I went home with dilaudid tabs.
  18. Over the weekend I had my very first PB. I feel like I've graduated to a true bandster. I took a bite of pizza and started laughing at something and accidentally swallowed and I knew right away I was headed for trouble. My mom who had gastric bypass 6 years ago FREAKED OUT when I first got the food stuck because she thought stuck = stays there forever until you go to the ER and have it removed. Then she freaked out when it all came back! I thought it was hilarious, she thought it was terrifying. You have to have some humor about these things. Anyway, I'm wondering whether or not I should get a fill. I had my last fill 4 weeks ago and I'm scheduled for another on Wednesday. I've lost 4 lbs since the last fill. I get full on some things, not others. I never pb'ed before until over the weekend. I'm kind of scared to get one. I have 3.5 cc's in a realize band, I'm thinking I might get another .5 added Wednesday. Any opinions?
  19. Exactly! I'll have a dessert shooter or something at applebees. I remember my uncle was like "can you eat that?!" and I said "it's healthy! it's made with milk! protein!" It's far better than sitting at home and eating a pint of Ben and Jerry's chunky monkey.
  20. Sure is a deterrent. Although, I'm not one to say that I can never ever have something that's not really nutritious again. I do have something once every week or two, otherwise I'd go crazy and eat a whole bag of chips or something. But that's just me of course.
  21. Absolutely. I haven't played it yet to know if you actually need the wii fit balance board or not but you can purchase that separately without purchasing Wii fit.
  22. It's called EA Sports Active. Just came out on the 19th.

    Back home again

LOL I can't really look at jell-o or pudding anymore for quite some time.
  24. Not only swelling but the band is stitched to your stomach and you have to let scar tissue form in the back of the stomach to keep the band in place where it isn't stitched.
  25. That's awesome you guys like it. I preordered it and haven't gotten it yet. Can't wait!
