Let the Joyous news be spread: New Jersey votes yes on Gay civil union!
Mrs Husker replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
These are my opinions and I am in no way trying to hurt, malign, anger, argue or agree with anyone. Let me start by prefacing that I am in no way an expert on the bible. I do not believe in organized religion but I am a Christian and I believe that Christ did die for me. I do not believe that people chose to be gay. Would any of us choose to be something that is so ridiculed and shunned? I do not believe that anyone chooses whom they fall in love with. In an earlier post I said that if the word “marriage” was dropped, then some would not have a problem with it. By no means does that mean the only heterosexual couples keep “marriage” sacred. I work with a woman who has had three affairs that I know of in the two years that she has been here. I was divorced (but since he had an affair, according to MY translation of the bible, I did not committed adultery when I re-married). “Marriage” as defined by: Webster Dictionary 1828 as “The act of uniting a man and woman for life; wedlock; the legal union of a man and woman for life. Marriage is a contract both civil and religious, by which the parties engage to live together in mutual affection and fidelity, till death shall separate them. Marriage was instituted by God himself for the purpose of preventing the promiscuous intercourse of the sexes, for promoting domestic felicity, and for securing the maintenance and education of children”. Webster Dictionary, 1913 is “The act of marrying, or the state of being married; legal union of a man and a woman for life, as husband and wife; wedlock; matrimony”. Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary 10th edition as “1 a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage <same-sex marriage> b : the mutual relation of married persons : WEDLOCK c : the institution whereby individuals are joined in a marriage”. The definition of marriage has changed over the years. Some people agree with it, some don’t. If this was a perfect world where everyone agreed on everything, it would sure be boring. Do I judge people? Yes. But I try to judge them only by their actions. If they are cruel, I judge them to be cruel. If they are mean, I judge them to be mean. If they are ignorant, I will give them the benefit of doubt that they might not know better. I will not judge a person’s “worthiness” in the eyes of God. I believe that is arrogant. Seeing as how I believe in him, I think he is perfectly capable of that himself. I will not judge a persons character without first meeting and talking to them. I will not condemn a person without all the facts. I realize that there are many interpretation of the bible. Here are a few of them of Romans 14:13-14. After reading them, please take away with you whatever your heart tells you see. Also remember, if you believe in God or not, you and I walk by faith everyday. Faith in ourselves, faith in others, faith in things, or faith in God. Do I believe that gay people should be allowed to be married? I think I will keep my opinionto myself. Romans 14:13-14 (King James Version) 13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Romans 14:13-14 (New King James Version) 13</SPAN> Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way. 14</SPAN> I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Romans 14:13-14 (New American Standard Bible) 13Therefore let us not (A)judge one another anymore, but rather determine this--(B)not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother's way. 14I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that (C)nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who (D)thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Romans 14:13-14 (Darby Translation) 13Let us no longer therefore judge one another; but judge ye this rather, not to put a stumbling-block or a fall-trap before his brother. 14I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except to him who reckons anything to be unclean, to that man [it is] unclean. Romans 14:13-14 (21st Century King James Version) 13Let us not therefore judge one another any more, but judge this rather: that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him that regardeth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Romans 14:13-14 (Today's New International Version) 13</SPAN> Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. Romans 14:13-14 (Young's Literal Translation) 13no longer, therefore, may we judge one another, but this judge ye rather, not to put a stumbling-stone before the brother, or an offence. 14I have known, and am persuaded, in the Lord Jesus, that nothing [is] unclean of itself, except to him who is reckoning anything to be unclean -- to that one [it is] unclean; -
Being dehydrated might be the cause. I will do the “fade to black” thing when I stand up if I am. But check with your doctor. It could be an inner ear thing or blood pressure.

While I feel for Mr P, I would stand your ground. If the relationship does become sexual, that is adultery. I just pray the Mrs P has no idea what Mr P is thinking about L. She is going through hell as it is.

I go back and forth on this. No I don’t believe that same sex MARRIAGE is right. Notice the emphasis on marriage. I have had this discussion with a gay friend. We have both come to the conclusion that if the word marriage was dropped, and replaced with union, most would not have a problem with it. Biblically, marriage was created by God to be between a man and a woman. The bible does say (many times) that relations between same sex people is a sin. On the other hand, Danny and Joey have been together for 15+ years and their relationship is stronger than most heterosexual couples I know. They do share a great love for one another that is evident to anyone who meets them and I believe that they should be able to have a binding ceremony that would make it "legal". Not only in the eyes of the law, but in the eyes of the IRS. -
Congrats on taking the steps needed to become a healthier you. If you need support, you came to right place. I don't have my band yet and have been fighting with insurance since about May-June. But anytime I get in a funk, I log on and everyone here is so inspiring, kind and supportive it knocks the funk right out just by reading some of the post. Good luck and welcome to the LBT family.

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives. Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Crème Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled. And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14. So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast. God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof. God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel Food Cake," and said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food." God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds. Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds. God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest. God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery. Then Satan created HMOs

Great NSV!!!! Way to so Susan. Don't let the step-bitch-in-law bother you. Your husband loves and cares about you, your kids love and care about you, your friends love and care about you, and most important, you love and care about yourself. All the rest is just bunk.

Where will be having your band done at? I am hoping to have mine done by Dr McBride in Omaha.

Bumping to see if anyone from nebraska is out there?

We are doing our open enrollment for insurance coverage here at work and I have to switch from BCBS to Mutual of Omaha because of my zip code. I was almost done getting things ready for my third appeal with BCBS now I am going to have to start over. I did call Mutual of Omaha and the lady who answered the phone said that it is covered but must be medically necessary. I asked what they consider medically necessary, she didn't know. I asked it they require a 2 year medically managed diet, she said that she has never heard of it. She did say that as soon as I switch I could send in for my pre-certification. At the next support group meeting, I will ask the nurse if they have a problem with Mutual or not. I just hope that this is going to be easier than BCBS and that I will get approved the first time. Anyone else had to deal with Mutual of Omaha? I read on Obesityhelp.com that many where approved their first time, but they were approved 2 or 3 years ago. One last note, I saw my doctor last week for my A1C (for those who don't know, this is a blood test that show your sugar levels for the last 3 months) and to talk to him about my knees hurting all the time now. Well the good news is my A1C is 5.9 (someone without diabeties is 5.6) but the x-ray show arthritis in both my knees. A little good news, a little bad news, life goes on.

:help: I suffer from kidney stones. By the time my stones let themselves be known to me, they are too large to pass. I have been treated with Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) in the past and want to know if this would have any adverse effects on the band?

I've been trying to find the answer to this one but now have to concede defeat. Soooo, what is it?!?

Sheri, welcome to LBT. I was looking into the bypass when I found out about the lap band and that is the way I am heading. Check with your HR department about insurance changes for next year, maybe put a "bug" in their ear about the need for coverage for lap band. Good luck.

Saying good bye! For a while.

I will also say a prayer for you. Good luck and God speed. -
I have to do a two year medically managed diet as per my insurance. I did LA Weight loss 12/04 to 6/05. They have just sent me a copy of my "chart documentation" with all my weigh in (I requested it in June and was told that they could not send it to me, when asked why they stated that it was "their property" and it could only be released to my doctor. Since my doctor never received it, I sent them another fax yesterday and they faxed it to ME today.) So, if my insurance accepts this as part of my two year medically managed diet, I should be ready to go by December. My question: Did anyone else who had to do a "medically managed diet" insurance accepted LA Weight loss? I'm ready to file my third and final appeal and want to make sure I get it right.

Isn't she eating a chicken leg? If so, I hope its KFC!

Anybody done the insurance pre-band diet?
Mrs Husker replied to SeamsSew's topic in Insurance & Financing
12 months? Try 24. That is what my insurance wants. If they take LA Weight loss, I should be set to go by December. -
I remember all of this and have tried to keep the memory alive in my kids by playing some of the same games with them. But what about fishing? Swimming in the lake? We would ride our bikes 13 miles outside of town just to drown a few worms or go swimming. I have tears in my eyes remembering it. But my kids are lucky, we still have the ice cream truck!!!!
