    Marchies In April

Medge, Glad to hear that you are doing better. I am 12 days post op and I don't even know I am banded except that other then the head hunger last night, I am not hungery. I am doing fine with 1 cup of Soup and it take about 1/2 hour to 45 min to get it down. I like sip, sip, sipping. No pain except for a small discomfort when I first get into bed at night under my left rib cage but it goes away in a minute or so. Momlanbert -Love the "March-ing Band" saying. Maybe that should be the title for next months thread. Or "March into May"? P.S. Thanks againg Tammy for keeping us together and keeping track of everyone who was banded in March. You're the greatest.

I am not even hungery. Haven't been since surgery. But today I just want to eat and eat and eat. I know it is head hungery but I have never had to deal with it before. I think I will be doing a lot of knitting just to get my mind off of it. It is raining outside so I can't get out and walk. I am thinking that that is the reason for the head hunger. I am uesd to walking all the time. So I must just be very, very bored.

    Recommiting...

Doula Lee, Sounds like you are one busy woman. Exercising is a hard habit to get into I am finding. I still just do a lot of walking (11 days post op today). Try starting small and work your way up. Give me a few weeks and I might take you up on it. Congrat!!!

Medge, The pain might be from the gas, so use the gas-x strips. I found that they helped with some of the pain.

Medge, So sorry to hear that you are not doing well. The best advice is to walk. Try and get up every two hours and walk, even if it is only for 5 min. I started this the night of my surgery and am in no pain 10 days post op. I went back to sleeping in my water bed and had no trouble getting out of it by day 3. To get better you have to move. I know that it sucks at first, but trust me, walking works.

    Port

I can feel my port. When I take a walk I will put my hand on it and I can feel it move with each step. It doesn't hurt and I think it's cool. It is still under steri strips so I don't know if I will be able to see it yet.

Am I the only one who is hopeing that I don't need a fill anytime soon? I am praying that I can get by without one for a long, long time. I think it is that I am afraid the something will go wrong (too much fill, need unfill, pain, stuck, etc. etc.) My band is working great at 10 days post op and I am very lucky because I don't feel hungery. I know that I might have some more swelling to get down and that my hunger level is going to increase, I just hope that a fill is NOT in the near furture.

Do you go to Support Groups?

I started going to the support meetings last May 06 (I was banded March 20, 07). It started out that the RNY people met on the First Monday of the month and the LB people met the third. Now they have changed it and everyone is meeting on the third. It is a 45 min drive, but I enjoy going. The first part of the meeting there is a professional person that talks to us, the last part is for everyone to bs or ask questions or just catch up.

    i have been crushed!!!!

That sucks!! I am so sorry for you. I agree with Carlene, any way you could switch jobs? Or is there any chance your employer will change the exclusion?

    Banded 2 Weeks

I was banded on March 20 and I had to e-mail my nurse because if I had to drink another powdered anything, I was going to be sick. I would gag just taking a sip of a protein shake and I liked them at first. She talked to the pa and as of yesterday I can start adding creamy soups. So far as of today I am down 24 lbs!!!!

Gail, Oh boy does it feel good!!! I can't get this stupid smile off my face. People who don't know about my surgery keep asking what I am so happy about and I just say that "Life".

    March 2007 Bandsters

Got up this morning to the most beautiful site, the scale read 199!!!!! I havn't been under 200 lbs for about 5 years. Yesterday for supper I had the most amazing creamed pea Soup. It was just campbells soup that I put in the bullet, but I have never tasted anything better. Sugarbear-Thanks for the encouragement Neveragain-Keep you Protein up and walk, walk, walk. LoriPA-I know what you mean about the SF popsicles-Orange and Cherry rock!!! Momlanbert-I got a cold the day after surgery. Sudafed PE quick dissolve strips really helped. Kyethra-Way to go. I wear 20-22 and have a few pair of 16-18 somewhere that I am now glad I didn't get rid of. Hope the be in them soon.

How did you come up with your User Name?

I live in Nebraska and my husband is on a different forum under Mr Husker. Wish I could think of something better because I don't even like football.

    New... Surgery 3/29

Congrats Autumn, I was banded 3/20/07, one week ago today, and I was a nervous wreck. I got a lot of support from the people here. If you ever have any questions, someone on here will have the answer.

    So I see this car...

I have a window cling that says geocaching.com. Needless to say, the only people who get it are the people who are into geo caching.
  22. I'm still LOL. I almost spit out my sugar free Jello. Lets not forget the cabbage Soup diet. Day One: Fruit: Eat all of the fruit you want (except bananas). Eat only your soup and the fruit for the first day. For drinks- unsweetened teas, cranberry juice and Water. Day Two: Vegetables: Eat until you are stuffed will all fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy green vegetables and stay away from dry Beans, peas and corn. Eat all the vegetables you want along with your soup. At dinner, reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter. Do not eat fruit today. Day Three: Mix Days One and Two: Eat all the soup, fruits and vegetables you want. No Baked Potato. Day Four: Bananas and Skim Milk: Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets. Day Five: Beef And Tomatos: Ten to twenty ounces of beef and up to six fresh tomtoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your soup at least once this day. You may eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef (but absolutely no skin-on chicken). If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef one one of the beef days (but not both). Day Six: Beef and Vegetables: Eat to your heart's content of beef and vegetables this day. You can even have 2 or 3 steaks if you like, with leafy green vegetables. No Baked Potato. Eat your soup at least once. Day Seven: Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables: Again stuff, stuff, stuff yourself. Be sure to eat your soup at least once this day. I had to give up on day 4. I got sooooooo sick.

    Lap band tomorrow

Congrats to both of you. I was banded one week ago today and am doing great. My best advice is to walk, walk, walk. And a heating pad and gas-x strips are a must.

    need a talipia recipe

I love all fish (I should as I work in an aquarium). This isn't a tilapia recipe (can't wait to try Wheetsin's recipes), but for salmon, I use the juice from a dill pickle jar, stone grounded mustard, about a tablespoon of garlic and a squirt of lemon. Soak the fish for 30 min. than put on the george with some garlic pepper. But the best way to have salmon is smoked.
  25. My surgon, Dr McBride at UNMC in Omaha Nebraska has the band. I will follow her advice about 2 weeks CLEAR liquids, 2 weeks full liquids, then mushies, slowly adding regular food. It's hard at times, 1 more week of clear liquids, but if I wanted to continue on eating whatever I wanted, I wouldn't have gotten the band. I plan on being a success (one week banded today and 19 pounds gone FOREVER)
