Kyethra You poor thing, this bug seems to be holding on. But I know what you mean about bland food when you are sick. When I get sick, I want toast (with my homemade strawberry jam) and lots and lots of tea. I have my post op check at 1:45 today. Hope to get bumped up to mushies. When I go in I need to talk to the dr about SOD (Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction). I still have my gallbladder and it has been tested every which way from Sunday and other then working in reverse sometimes, it is ok. BUT, every so often I get this pain in my gallbladder area that will go up to the curve in my neck on the right side. It has me hunched over for hours. The only thing that helps is to get in a HOT, HOT shower. I am talking when you get out you are lobster red. But the relief only lasts as long as I am in the shower. I had an attack last night and it was killer. So the only thing I had last night was a hot cup of mint green tea. There is a test that but it can cause pancreatitis (just one of the problems). So I am just hoping that maybe there is something I can take to ward off the attack when I feel it start. Wish me luck.

My dr said the band was for life barring any complications. I am 16 days post op and the best advice is to walk, walk, walk for the pain. By day 3 I was also doing a lot better, even sleeping back in my waterbed. And I can't say enough about gas-x strips. By day 5, 95% back to my old self. Hang in there, it does get better. Welcome to bandland.

Way to go!!! 50.5 lbs is great!!!

I love to cook!!!! But there have been times that I couldn't eat what I cooked. I got the Magic Bullet and love it. I blend campbell's soups and they are great. Get the ones that say "Healty Choice" (or something like that). They are higher priced, but one can should be 2 meals. I also tried the "Taco Soup" on the liquid stage thread, YUMMY!!!!!!

Congrats Lori!!! I have some jeans that are one size smaller, but I havn't got the guts (or too much guts) to try them yet. If they don't fit, I don't want the dissapointment. Maybe in 5 more lbs I will put up a brave front and try it.

Blj, That must suck. But just think of how much better you are going to feel after you give your belly a break. I just looked and saw that you are almost to goal in less than a year, WOW!!

Wish you could hear me LOL!!! I can't wait for my boss to get back so I can tell him that I need to go home because of "Anal glaucoma". Can't see my ass staying at work today!! LOVE IT!!! Mew, Holy sh** that is funny then hell. LOVE IT ALSO!!

Jack Sprat, That sounds painfull. I hope all is well with your port. Last night I needed to adjust my wedge pillow and did a mini crunch and it felt like a muscle popped up and didn't go down for about 15 seconds. Scared the h**l out of me. It wasn't very painful, just weird. Anyway, hope all goes well with your appointment tomorrow. Heck, I just realised, I have my post op check tomorrow also. Hope to get on mushies!!!!!!

Lauraj, With any surgery comes risks. I had my placed on March 20, 2007 at UNMC and was up and walking around that night. Granted I am only 2 weeks post op, I would still do it all over again. Recovery was nothing. I only took Tues to Fri off work. Now its like it never happened. Can't feel anything unless I gulp instead of sip or take too large of a spoonful of creamed Soup. Then it is just a twing in the middle of my chest area. Keep reading and good luck.

Nebraska Skye, Way to go girl!!! 65 pounds gone forever!!! Do you have a support group in your area?
-
Hi Greg, Sorry, I haven't been checking this thread because it seemed that I was the only one who did (LOL) The support group is at UNMC on 42 & Dewey on the first Monday of the month. They have changed it up in the last two months because not many people were coming and now it is for any type of WLS. It is from 6-7:30pm. The first part of the meeting there is a professional person who will come and discuss issues faceing all WLS patients and will answer questions. The last half is for general support. We also have a yahoo group. Look for UNMC Bariatric Surgery Support Group at yahoo group. We would love to have a new "face" to talk to.

Congrats Tammyj on your loss. Tracy, I hope your time flies to bandland. Anyone else seem really dry? I have been drinking my water like crazy today and I still have a really dry mouth.

Pam Banded, You crack me up!! I found out where I am loseing the weight, in my hands and wrist. I have old lady hands and my watch spins around my wrist. Is this a NSV?

I feel for you. I am still on full liquids. I see my dr tomorrow. I am PRAYING to go on to mushies. Question? What is layering the pouch?

I can't wait to put on his pants. My DH is 6'2" and about 240, but he has a skinny butt and legs. I really don't know where he keeps his weight. He "accidently" put on a pair of my shorts (I am only 5') and then wanted to know why they were too big for him! GRRRRRRR!!!! Congrats!! Can't wait to put on DH's shorts and have them falling off. Pay Back!

I couldn't get out to walk today at lunch because it is too cold. So I walked inside. I work at an aquarium and I can walk around the tanks. I did the math and with a three foot stride, averaging 80 stides per lap, doing 13 laps, that is 1 lap more than 1/2 a mile. I love where I work and when I get to walk outside, I see wild deer & turkey. We have both wild and tame ducks and geese in our ponds. I LOVE MY JOB!!! On day I will have to post some photos I got this winter. It's just bueatiful. I am glad to see that everyone is doing better and getting on, getting on. If you are having a problem with hunger, try calling you dr office. I did at 9 days post op and they let me go onto full liquids early. It is worth a shot. Just remember that you are still healing and everyone heals at a different rate. If my dr office would have said not to advance, I wouldn't have. Granted I would have been miserable (sp), but I didn't put myself through all this just to sabotage myself. (Off my soap box now) Good luck. Talking about full liquids, today for lunch I tried one of the recipes, Taco Soup, that I found under the liquid food stage thread. Delish. When I made it last night my DH tried it both before and after I put it in the bullet. He liked them both but thought the flavor really came out when blended. It calls for corn chips, I could have went without, but, I put Frito's in my bullet and sprinkled them on top. Anyone else have any other recipes to share? I love trying anything new. If I find any, I plan on posting them under the liquid stage recipe thread.

For some reason that had me LOL. Weigh in/strip down to fill up. Congrats on your loss!! I bet you feel like a million bucks. Today is the day for the scale. I decided not to do it everyday because when it doesn't move what I think it should move I get discouraged. Well, it didn't move. So my loss for 14 days is 24 pounds. Still happy as hell about it, but for some reason, I wanted one more pound gone to round out at 25. But 24 gone and 66 to go. I know what I did wrong. I dropped my Protein way down since I have been on full liquids. Plan on adding two Protein drinks (something fruity) a day. Or at least adding unjury broth to other Soups. Good luck to all our Marchies this month.

TM1019, My dr had me on clear liquids with protein shakes. After 10 days I told them I couldn't do another protein shake and they let me start on to full liquids (blended soups). I am hopeing that by April 5, my post op check, I can go onto mushies. I did find a Campbell's Healthy Choice (it think that is what is was) soup called Italian Wedding Soup. Man was it good. My DH had some (blended) and he loved it also. But split pea is my all time fav.

Make sure you are getting in your protein. I found that it does keep you feeling full longer. Best of luck tomorrow and praying for your speedy recovery. -
Went back to work today

You are one brave girl. I took 6 days off from work and the first day back almost fell asleep at my desk about 2pm. Glad to hear you are doing so great. -
Congrats!!! And welcome to LBT.
-
Thanks Tammyj. I really debated on doing it and almost went back and deleted it. You really don't realize how big you are until you see yourself in pictures. I wouldn't want anyone I see everyday to see those photos though.:omg:

The best bet would be to call them. We had to switch insurances back in November here at work. I was on my last appeal with my then current insurance (which I could have stayed with), so I called the new provider and they we very helpful in answering all my questions. I was approved 15 days after I switched. That was almost a month before it took effect.

Prbrooksie, Thanks for that link. I printed off a copy and am planning on bring it to my support group tonight to have our nurse check it out.
