    gallbladder- need info please

My mother thought she was having a heart attack, my older sister had presistent lower back pain for years. Both were their GB. I am having a HIDDA scan on the 26 to see what is going on with mine. Bet it will show nothing like it did last year. I have a double ya up pain on the right side under my ribs that goes up to the curve of my neck on the right side. The nurse told me that I need to have the HIDDA scan before I can get a fill "just to make sure everything is ok". I don't think it is my gallbladder but S.O.D. Hope to find out what it is soon because I have had 3 attacks this last week, the last one started when I woke up this morning. Sucky day today.
  3. I just called BFL and having WLS is ok. I asked when was the start date and the guy on the phone said that the last day was September something. Since I am only 3 weeks post op, I might join you later this summer. It would be great to have someone to do this with. Thanks

Well, so much for will power (as if I ever had any). I couldn't wait until next Tuesday to step on the scale. IT MOVED!!!! 197!!! I just hope that I can maintain it until Tuesday so I will not be disappointed if I put it back on. Last night I took a walk with my girlfriend. It was cold and wet. We only lasted about 1/2 hour, and by the time I got into the house, my face was sooooo cold it hurt. My DH was on his computer and I went up to him and lifted his shirt then put my face on his belly. That was worth the cold, wet walk!

I think my "full" feeling is a discomfort just to the left of the center of my chest. Not sure and as soon as I feel it, I stop. Serious. I and a bite of food in my mouth when I felt it and I spit it out. Thank goodness I was at home when it happened. I am scared to pb and will not push it. I had eggs with crumbled sausage in it for breakfast and it is still with me almost 4 hours later. I want to eat my lunch (turkey with gravy and green beans that I had canned) but think I am still full from breakfast. I do find that at night I can eat more then during the day. Anyone else like this?

Kyethra, Looks like we are in the same boat. I am having a HIDA scan done on April 26. The nurse said that we need to make sure everything is alright before I can have a fill. So I took that to mean if I didn't do the HIDA I would be delaying my fill. At first I was hoping that I wouldn't need a fill for a long time, now that I can eat everything and have no restriction at night (am fine during the day) I WANT MY FILL!!!

Well, week three and still sitting at 199. I know that this time is for healing, but it would be nice to see some more weight loss. I plan on walking more and hoping to get my exercise area set up soon so I can add Sweating to the Oldies (I love Richard!!!). I started taking my Lipator and Chlorathaldone again this morning. The Lipator I think I felt on its way down, but the Chlorathaldone is small so it was easy. Also started this new med to help prevent gall stones. I have to cut it open and sprinkle it on some cottage cheese, YUCK!! I think I will try it with applesause tomorrow. Well, have a great week everyone.

    How can I prepare myself?

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/post-op-checklists-t14814.html This is a link that has a post-op checklist. Check it out. I found that the gas-x strips are a must. Also check out different Protein drinks now as you are going to be living on them for awhile after surgery. Good Luck and congrats.

Marg, 20 minutes is 20 minutes. Good for you. I started walking daily the day I got home from surgery. I feel so much better when I walk. If it is too cold outside, I try my elipitcal (sp), that sucks, my legs are on fire by .5 miles. I don't think I have lost anything this week, I will know for sure in the morning when I do "MY" official weigh in.

    Loosing my mind

Make sure you are getting your protein in. I ordered some different sample packs from both vitalady.com and unjury.com. Find the ones that work for you. You are going to need protein shakes for post op also along with after fills. Good luck and congrats on making the choice to be a healthier you.

Thanks so much TeachLady. I work at an aquarium in the middle of a state park. I do outdoor education. We teach kids about hunting safety and how to fish. We also have a teachers loaner program where teachers can borrow fish id kits, Water test kits, videos and a plethera of other outdoord ed materials. At first whenever I saw the deer, turkey, geese or whatever, I would have to stop and watch them. Now after 7 years, I realized that I only give them a passing glance, so I decided that since I do work in an amazing place, I should take time to appreciate it more. Glad you enjoyed it. The turkey is in our parking lot. I have a lot of photos, but these were my fav.

how to avoid band slips & erosion

Perfect analogy. How many people have lost weight for a few years, just to put it back on again. The band is a tool to help us achieve what we are unable to achieve alone.

Nikki, You poor thing. I breed kidney stones. I have had them three times. The last time (about 2 years ago) they blasted 5 out of my left kidney. The smallest one that I ever had was 1/2 long, cone shaped. Mine have always been too large to pass, so I am one of the lucky ones and I get to have surgery (sucks). I take chlorthaldone daily for them. I haven't taken it since surgery so I am getting very worried. I am hoping to start back on them this week.

how to avoid band slips & erosion

My Dr nurse said that smoking might be related to band erosion. Has anyone heard this before?

Jacksprat, All I can say is OUCH!! I hope you get better soon. The dr suggesting that you not cough?!? Did he give you anything for that? Lori, I know what you mean about soft foods. I didn't plan on starting them until full liquids didn't keep me full, but the temptation was too much. I had eggs over medium yesterday, all I can say is YUM!
  20. Mrs Husker

    Would you do it again?

Granted I am only 17 days post op, 24.5 lbs down and doing great. I don't know if my answer would change if I had complications, but for now, YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!

    EASTER DINNER--what's your plan?

Just my kids and my dh. We are have prime rib (dh is not a big ham fan), baked potatoes, green Beans. I might make something for desert. We don't go overboard for easter. I get the kids something like a movie or cd, but we don't do the egg thing or a baskets of chocolate. Never could understand what the easter bunny had to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Edit: DH just called and changed his mind, he wants chicken.

Lori, 32 lbs!!! Holy Crap!! You are the woman!! As to my gallbladder, its fine. No stones, nothing. I talked to my dr today about it and the only way to get a diognosis (sp) of S.O.D. is to sumit to the testing, which I am not ready to do. But the good news is I AM ON SOFT FOODS!!!! She told me I could start adding them IF liquids where not keeping me full. She gave me a list but all I heard was Tuna. So after my appt, I went to Subway and got some of their tuna. They looked at me strange when I ordered it without bread or anything, just the tuna. It was heaven. Still only 24 lbs down but found out that I need to up my calories (I already knew that) because my body is keeping everything I put into it because it thinks that we are going to starve. So hope that by adding some soft foods I will lose more weight (that and the fact that I can now do whatever exercises I want). I don't really have another appt, but she let me know that if I am finding that I am getting hungery sooner then I should, that I can have a fill in 4 weeks. She said that the longest that one of her patients went without a fill was 5 months. I hope I can go as long a possible without one, but will be on the phone making an appt as soon as I know I need one.
