Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you
Mrs Husker replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
After reading these post, decided to join in. I am also a member of the mile high club (747 on the way home from Hawaii). I have done in cars, trains, pools, lakes, boats and the GYN table at my doctors office (not with my doctor). I started using drugs at 11, smoking cigarettes and drinking at 12. Quit drugs at 18 and joined the air force to get away from an abusive boyfriend. Was molested twice in my life. The first time I was 6, he was my step-grandfather. This lasted about a year. The second time I was 10 and it lasted till I was 12, he was a friend of the family. In high school I tried to have a sexual relationship with a girlfriend, but just couldn’t get into it. Can’t stand to hear someone clear their throat, makes me gag. Also smells will make me gag. The cat puke waits till my dh comes home to be cleaned up ( I act like I didn't see it). Or I hope my dog eats it. Just typing that made me gag. I always type my post in Word then cut and paste so I don’t have a ton of misspellings. Well, that’s all I can think of for now. -
Hey all, Not much going on here. My weight is at a stand still, but I guess that is a good thing as it is not going up. I wanted to be 180 by Christmas so I need to get my butt in gear. I have another fill on Nov 5. Hope that one will keep me full longer than 1-2 hours. I still can eat whatever I want, but must chew-chew-chew or it hurts like h**l. I have found that when I have a fill, things like sweets kind of make me sick after a bite or two. IE. Pre-band I loved 3 Musketeers, now 2 bites and I done. So that’s a good thing. Anyone else find that things just don't satisfy you the way they used to. Like fried food doesn’t taste the way it did pre-band. The only thing, junk food wise, that I still want and hasn’t changed in taste are chips. I love all chips. Well, back to work for me.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
Mrs Husker replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
While I was growing up, my family was normal size, except me. I was always a little overweight. In the last 6 months my younger sister has been fighting depression and gained a lot of weight. She is now over 220 lbs. Last month she calls me crying on the phone saying "I’m not supposed to be the fat one!" I replied "Like I am", she had the balls to say "You should be used to it". I just wanted to slap her. When my daughter (now, 12 years old, 5' 2", 95lbs) was 3, she decided to get in the shower with me. I had my back to her when she got in. She started laughing, I asked what was so funny, she said "Mommy has a big butt". Out of the mouths of babes. -
I had the same problem. My port was flipped. When I went in to have it reattached, it was supposed to be a simple in and out surgery. Turned out I had a hernia and had to stay the night in the hospital.

I still can't go over a mile on mine. My legs start burning. My DH tell me "no pain, no gain". I tell him to kiss my a**. LOL

I know what you mean about keeping the Activia package for the refund. I had to throw mine out at about day 6. This stuff works!!!!! I even tried the prune one and loved it (but I also love real prunes). Now I have to be careful about how much I eat of it in a week because I was, lets say "regular", two or three times per day.

Congrats TammyJ!! And a big pat on the back to my fellow Marchies for doing sooooo great. I got my re-fill yesterday, only 1cc, but it went well and now I am ready to kick it into high gear and start the ball rolling downhill!!!

Happy October fellow Marchies. Today is the day, I get a fill after being unfilled since my hernia surgery. I’ve only had one fill and one attempt at a second, so I know what to expect. But for some reason I am as nervous as a virgin on her wedding night. I know that there is basically no pain. Maybe it’s because I’m worrying that they will not be able to get it done. That something else is wrong with my band. I want soooooo bad to get the ball rolling with my weight loss and really, really, really want this fill. Wish me luck.

I had a flipped port and put it off getting fixed until last month. It turned out that I had a major hernia right behind my port. My doctor has only seen this one other time and it got me thinking if anyone else has every had this happen.

Check out vitalady.com or unjury.com for protein shakes. I get a lot of the single serving and this way I can try it and make sure I like it before spending loads on a canister of it.

Congrats to both of you Thickchick and Tammyj. I am still holding at about 189-192 since I was unfilled in August and am still in size 18 (can get into a 16, but still to tight to wear all day). I go in for a refill on October 1, can't wait to get the ball rolling again so I can catch up with everyone else

Chelsie, Did you have your scope and what did it show? Been thinking about you since I read this. Hope everything is alright.
-
Karen, I am so sorry for you loss. I hope that you can find comfort in the fact that he is out of pain and will always be watching over you.

I work for my states Outdoor Education Center. I am also a hunter education instructor. By saying that you should know where I stand on gun control. Stop preaching gun control, start teaching self control.

Demsvmejm, You look great!! Way to go. We have almost the same stats and I don't see that great of a difference when I look at my before and after shots. Keep up the good work.

Khanson, I know how you feel. I have only been able to have one fill and now am unfilled, so I have been stuck going up and down the same 4 lbs. I go in for a fill on Oct 1, can't wait to get the scale moving down again. I also hate to work out in the heat. It will give me a headache, so now that the weather is getting better, I plan on starting up again. Good luck.

This made me laugh, so I wanted to share it here. We all know those cute little computer symbols called "emoticons," where: :Banane20: means a smile and is a frown. Sometimes these are represented by :-) :-( Well, how about some " BUTT ICONS?" Here goes: (_!_) A regular ass (__!__) A fat ass (!) A tight ass (_*_) A sore ass {_!_} A swishy ass (_o_) An ass that's been around (_x_) Kiss my ass (_X_) Leave my ass alone (_zzz_) A tired ass (_E=mc2_) A smart ass (_?_) Dumb ass (_$_) Money coming out of his ass See how many more you can come up with and add to the list and send it on.

Tammyj, All I can say is Damn! You are an inspriation. Thanks sooooo much for everything you did to keep us Marchies together and upbeat when we all started. Now I hope to catch up with you (weight wise that is).

Virginia
I don't think I had any other symptoms. It was the same doctor that did my band that fixed my hernia. Good luck to ya.

-
Virgina, I didn't know I had a hernia until after surgery, but I should have. My port area stuck out like the pointed end of a large egg. I hope that everything is ok with yours. I have been trying to catch up on everything with all the Marchies and all I can say is "HOLY CRAP" you people are doing great!!! I plan on busting butt as soon as I get the ok from my doctor. Walking is fine, but I need to do more.

Well, I’m back. I was soooooo busy this summer that I haven’t had time to check in as often as I wanted. Between work, camps, vacations, fishing/kayak trips, my sons foot surgery and gardening, there hasn’t been much time for anything else. So a brief update. I went in for my second fill mid June and found that my port was flipped all the way around. We knew that it had become unattached when I went in for my first fill in May, but in June it was so bad that I couldn’t get a fill. Decided to put off getting it fixed until late August because of all the plans I had for the summer. Well, I went in on August 26. It was supposed to be a simple procedure where I was given a twilight sleep and they were going go use local injections. I was also going to get a slight fill and they were going to make my scar skinner (it was only about 2 inches long but it was about ½ inch wide.), then I was going to go home the same day. When I woke up from surgery, my throat hurt so I knew that I was put all the way under and the doctor was standing there. As it turns out when they cut me open and started to reposition my port it popped out because of the hernia that was behind it. The hole was large enough to pass a plum through. They had to put me all the way under and use mesh to close the hole. I also had a complete unfill and had to spend the night in the hospital (they wanted me to stay 2, but I wanted to go home). My scare is skinner but it is also about 5 inches long. So now I am waiting until October 1 to get my second first fill or my first fill for a second time. I have been sitting between 189-193 forever and can’t wait to get the ball rolling "downhill" again. Now that I am unfilled, I can eat more but I still will get stuck if I take too big of a bite, don’t chew well or if it is really dry. So I guess that is a good thing as I don’t want to fall back into all my old bad habits of shovel, two chews, swallow, repeat. That’s all for now. I hope to get caught up with all the Marchies this weekend. I have a lot of reading to do.

My port is flipped also. Under flouro it looks like a top hat. It was flipped during my first fill, but they were able to get it. I went in for my second fill and it hurt like hell so I didn't get it. Right now it looks like they can get me in around Aug 24. I believe that I flipped becaused I didn't follow the 1 month lifting restriction and popped my stitches at work lifting boxes over 40 lbs. I will not do that again.
-
Congrats Farmmom!! I was soooooo excited when I dropped weight after surgery. It was fast. Now things are slowing down, but still going down. In 4 months I am down 32.5 lbs, or a little over 8 lbs a month. I know I couldn't do that without the band.

Medicaid/Medicare Centers of Excellence in NE????
Mrs Husker replied to grandmasoon2b's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Grandmasoon2b, I just talked to Sue with Dr McBrides office and she said that they are still waiting for their site visit. If you would like, her number is 402-559-5508. She said that they called to find out when it was going to happen and they told her that they just had to wait their turn.
