Marchies in Nov. (The Month of The Turkey)
Mrs Husker replied to Jeni 85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Where have all the Marchies gone? Man does that sound like the begining of a sad country song or what? But no joke, where is everyone?

As of 8pm Sunday night, I have seen, touched, stabbed and tagged 259 deer. I have a 10 hour shift today(my boss decided he would work the first 2 hours and give me the last 10 alone) and then I am done until next Monday and I still will have about 8 hours ot that I will need to take off. I can't wait, granted I have to get through today without killing anyone, but I think I can make it.
-

TOUGH LOVE WORKS!!!! I got home last night after 12 hours of checking in deer and was thinking about ice cream. As soon as I stepped onto my front deck, something (or someone, hint, hint) said in my head "You had SURGERY to lose weight". Needless to say I didn't have ice cream. Thanks again OH Juli. -
Does anyone else feel like their loved ones are trying to sabotage your weight loss? I want to believe that my DH doesn’t do it on purpose, but there are times that I wonder. Like when I buy fresh fish and instead of baking/grilling it, he fries it. Or when he brings home KFC (and he doesn’t really like KFC) for supper. He doesn’t do it often, he does encourage me and tells me I am doing great and I know that he loves me, but there are time that I wonder if he doesn’t want me to succeed.

You're the best OH Juli!!! Thanks, I needed that. As for Happy Friday Texas, I have to work Sat/Sun/Mon 12 hours shifts for deer check, so my "Friday" will not be until next week. But I do get the rest of the week off so that makes up for it. Yeah, work 3 days and get 6 off!! Yahoo!! -

Good job Jeni!!!! Unlike you, I was a baaaaad girl last night. I wanted chips last night and my husband went and got me some and I had way more than a handful. He also got some ice cream and I had some of that also. I ended up doing 300 steps on my stepper before bed (granted I did 150 then took a break and did 150 more). With my goal of 180 by Christmas, I need to get some of this tough love. Anyone wanting to give me a kick in the butt? I need it. -

Check out craigslist.org and see if they have one there. I got mine for $25.00 and I love it. -
Do you eat 800 to 1200 calories per day? Please Come In!!
Mrs Husker replied to marieze's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep! Some days it is hard to even get that many. I am 5' and my dh is 6'2 240-250 and pre-band, I could out eat him. Now my 94lb 12 year old daughter out eats me. I love my band. Amazing is you, losing, you are an inspiration. -
I am tighter then ever before/during TOM. I keep to soups for 7-10 days because everything else hurts. Also it seems that my cramping has gotten worse but it seems to have gotten shorter by about 2 days.

I'm playing Devils advocate here Redgirl. If you are feeling restriction why do you want another fill? Are you eating less? Are you staying full after you eat? Are you losing weight? I declined my last fill because I stay full 2.5 to 3 hours after I eat and I had lost 8lbs in a month. I might need a slight adjustment next month but wanted to see how I was at this leave. I didn’t want to mess with a good thing because now the only things I have had to give up are soft breads and dry meat. I was afraid of becoming tight and having to have an unfill. Or not being able to eat solid foods and ending up in a cycle of fills and unfills because of to many pb. I wish you the best on you journey.

Marchies in Nov. (The Month of The Turkey)
Mrs Husker replied to Jeni 85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jeni There isn't a gyn withing 30 mins of me so I don't go to one. I do weights (sometimes) and have an elipical (sp) trainer (which kills me). I did get a easy stepper that sits right next to my bed and when I get up I get on it and I try to do it when I get home and I do do it before bed. I am up to 150 (really 300) steps each time. I find that since it is sitting right there and I have to walk around it to get in/out of bed, I use it. Now if I could just find a way to get my Sweating to the Oldies done, I would be one happy camper. -

I'm getting a cold and my band feels tight. Is this normal? My band being tight because I got a cold? I am having hot tea today for breakfast and soup for lunch and even thou my dh is going to grill, I will skip that and have soup for supper. Damn!
And Texas, you made me smile (not easy when my head feels like it is about to pop). You have such pep and enthusiasm. -

OK fellow Marchies, I need to ask a question. I have put it off because it is embarrassing. I have the worst gas. I, and this is not a joke, have woken myself up with it. I wake up every morning and I sound trumpets in the toilet. When I am at work and I feel one coming on I try to walk out of the room and one will bubble out no matter how hard I try to keep it in. I have tried Gas-X strips, but they don’t help. I am not eating gassy foods either. Anyone else having this problem? Please tell me I am not alone. -
You might want to call your insurance company and see what they require. Some want anywhere from 6 months to two years medically managed weight loss. Others want a BMI over 40 with at least one or two co-morbid disabilities. Some don't cover it at all. Check with them then find a doctor that you trust and see how they want to proceed. Best of luck,

I LOVE MY BAND!!!!! I have to work tonight and decided to stop and grab a bite to eat before I came in. I went to my favorite restaurant and order my all time favorite, the 6 oz salmon. I asked for a to go box when I ordered. I put half of everything in the box and started eating. I couldn’t finish the half that I left out of the box. Before, I could wolf it all down and walk away still hungry. I knew that I was eating smaller, but this time it just really hit home. It’s like when I look at my husband and think “That’s my husband” (meaning it in a good way). Like I’m seeing him for the first time and we’ve known each other for 23 years. Tonight it really hit home that I am banded and it IS working. In the back of my mind I thought I was going to fail at this like every other diet, but I think tonight it sunk in that this isn’t another diet, it is a different way of life and I’M LOVIN IT!!!! -
I had to take MOM liquid to get things going and still use the MOM as needed. The Cherry one is really good.

Is this normal? Happened to anyone else??
Mrs Husker replied to lauren0818's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am at 1cc and thought that I would need another fill this month, but I declined because during that TOM I become tighter and was on liquids/soft foods for days after a very, very painful pb. Does you tight time fall near your TOM? If so, just know that you are going to be on liquids/soft foods during that time so you don't get stuck and cause swelling and then become very tight. Good luck and keep us posted. -
Try checking out the local support section on this forum. There is one for MI. I am sure that they would welcome you to their meetings. Good luck.

Looks like everyone one is doing great. I went in today for a fill and decided against it. First I am staying full 3 hours or longer on smaller portions. And second, when I had my hernia surgery in August I gained 8 lbs. I went in for a fill the first Monday in October and since then I have lost that 8 lbs, so now I am down (again) to 190. I have an appt for the first Monday in December if I need a fill then. I don't want to get to tight, but now I have a small problem with only some foods. I don't want to make it worse by getting to tight. Still shooting for 180 by X-mas. -
You can see my port on my side since I had my hernia repaired. I asked my PA about this at my last fill and she said they placed it closer to the skin because of the repair and if when I reach goal and it bugs me I can have it relocated. For now, and I know this is gross, I love being able to put my hand on it and feel it move. It's my buddy.

How do you get used to 'leaving food behind' ?
Mrs Husker replied to Mrs SmartyPants's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the smaller plates/bowls at home also. If I am going out, I'm with Mhurie, I like being able to leave something on my plate. I love talking home a doggie bag. -
I didn't have anything last night. I made my DH hand it out so I wouldn't even have to smell it. And I also sent some of the left overs to his work and took a bag to mine to be put on the front counter far, far, far away from my desk.

I don't check in with this thread too often, it was kind of lonely. It is nice to see some new names added to the Nebraska list.

All my Marchies. Also Jack, Tracyks, Alexandra, Wheetsin, Puddin, Jachut and Chickie, WASaBubbleButt, Losinjusme and Mike Rowe. Plus a lot of others.
