Almost 4 weeks out and almost no restriction

I understand exactly how you feel. I was banded on 1/23 and I have not had my first fill yet. I get my first fill on 3/9 but can eat almost anything. I don't feel any restriction although my surgeon did not put any saline in my band the day of surgery. I eat but dont get full or close to it. Although I am eating small portions b/c I am afraid of risking a slip, or stretching my band. I am 4 wks post op today and can start eating puree foods, but I feel fine, and eat everything as long as it's soft, not fried, greasy, or spicy. I chew my food to mush, but sometimes I forget and don't chew too thouroughly, or i swallow too much at one time. The discouraging part is that I don't have that feeling/sensation that I have eaten enough. Maybe once I getnmy first fill I will be able to feel the difference. Good luck to you and keep me posted. We will definately get through this.
  4. I will be 3 weeks post op on Friday the 13th, and yall I am so damn hungry. I have been eating the full liquid diet (yogurt, cream soups, jello, etc.) but they are not enough. I don't have my first fill unitl March 9th. I am craving salad so bad. The funny thing is that I don't crave the sweets, or junk food that I use to eat ever so faithfully before surgery. I crave all the healthy foods but dont know if I can have them. Salad is my favorite "healthy food" to eat and I want some so bad. Do you think I can eat some, even if I chew it up really good. I'm afraid that when I get my first fill I won't ever be able to eat salad because I've heard all the horror stories of some who can't tolerate the lettuce anymore. Any suggestions?:crying:
  5. That's so cool. My first fill is March 9th also. I get hungry too and sometimes I want to stop by McDonalds and get me a grilled chicken combo, but I have to remember that I cant have that. Glad to know you are doing well. I'm ready for my first fill b/c when I do eat, I get hungry again a few hours later. That sucks alot. Well, keep me posted and good luck with your first fill.

  8. Hi there. Just checking to see how you are doing and how things are going for you since surgery. I'm doing wonderful, better than I ever expected. I went for my post op on Jan 28 and I had already lost 20 pounds. To date, I am down a total of 33 pounds in just 2 1/2 weeks. I am very excited. Most of all, I feel GREAT. I never thought I would have so much energy. Let me know how you are doing when you get a chance. Take care twin....Lol

Need a fill doctor close to Tallahassee

i believe so b/c my cousin had her band done in texas and moved to tallahassee and he is her fill doctor. I would say try it and see, either dr. Crooms or dr. Seilof. If i'm not mistaken they are in the same office. But if not, my doctor in albany ga, dr john bagnato does for sure. His number is 229-432-8484. I'm getting banded by him tomorrow. Good luck!!
  12. Hey guys. Just checking in to see who else is getting banded tomorrow. I'm very excited about the beginning of a new life, a new me, but also pretty nervous now and need some encouragment. I'm hoping and praying that everything goes well, and no complications. OMG, if I can just get over the fear of being put to sleep I think I will be okay. This will be my last post until surgery is completed and I'm back home, although I may post from my Blackberry (if I can get my dad to sneak me my phone into the recovery room)...Lol. But, to my fellow January 23rd banders, good luck and best wishes to all of you. Tomorrow will be a day we will never forget. Love yall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. WELL, THE TIME HAS COME... I'M JUST 2 DAYS AWAYS FROM GETTING MY LIFESAVER LAP-BAND. I HAVE SO MANY MIXED EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW. I'M NOT REALLY SCARED, MORE LIKE ANXIOUS. AHHH, A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME. I AM THOUGH A LITTLE ON THE APPREHENSIVE SIDE ABOUT THE PAIN AFTER SURGERY AS I HAVE NEVER BEEN ONE TO TOLERATE PAIN VERY WELL. I ALSO THINK A LOT ABOUT THE PRE OP DIET I'VE BEEN DOING, AND HOPING I HAVE DONE IT RIGHT AT LEAST ENOUGH THAT MY LIVER HAS SHRUNK SOME. MY ONLY FEAR IS BEING PUT TO SLEEP. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE BEGINNING OF A NEW LIFE AND ALL THE GOOD AND POSITIVE THINGS TO COME. GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES TO ALL WHO ARE BEING BANDED FRIDAY.

    Banded This Morning!

Congrats big08, I am so happy for you. You have accomplished a great thing. Just imagine how much better your life is going to be and most iof all, how much better you will feel. I look forward to that as well, as my surgery is Friday. I am still kind of nervous and hoping my liver has shrunk enough. The pre op diet is horrible. I hope you continue with much success in the future. Again, congratulations.

    Januray 23rd Banders!!!

I know exactly what you mean and how you feel. I am nervous that my liver may not have shrunk enough. To wake up from surgery and not be banded will be totally devasting to me. I am on straight liquids this week b/c I want to make that my liver size meets their requirement. I've been eating mostly just salads and drinking lots of Water. I tried the Optima Protein shakes and they are just terrible to me. For my protein I just eat bake talapia or ground turkey patties or grilled chicken on my salad. Of course you know quite well how much of a process and journey this has been. The worst for me I think is trying to survive the preop diet. What about you? Congratulationsalso on your weight loss to. I do wish you the best of luck on Friday. Do you know what time you have to be at the hospital? I won't find out until Thursday afternoon. Please do keep in touch. Email and let me know how things go. My email is williams61978@yahoo.com. Take care.
