    Gall Blader Surgery

i just dealt with having mine out- heres an overview i posted in another thread i was visiting family 2 weeks after my surgery. i drove to san antonio from houston with my mom and my 18month old. my back pain got progressivly worse all day. i thought at first maybe it was from the band, since that was the longest id driven since the surgery (and i drove from louisiana to houston the day before) it ended up so bad that i couldnt even make it home from san antonio- we had to stop and get a hotel room. that was wednesday night. thursday morning i felt better, but by the night it was getting bad again. i woke up at like 430am friday in the worse pain of my life- worse than my 36hours of back labor even- and throwing up. i had my mom take me to the ER. after shooting me full of pain meds (major ones too) and testing me all day, they figured out it had nothing to do with the band, but it was acute pancreantitis and that was either causing or caused by gall bladder issues. they wanted to wait til the pancreantitis got better (which it didnt. i had a continuous narcotic drip, and they ended up giving me a pump for the meds too) to do surgery. i was NPO til tuesday. it was torture, i would have done anything for even a piece of ice. anyway, they did surgery on tuesday, and when i woke up, the back pain was gone. it was heaven... and i got to drink. the bad part was i then ended up having to stay in houston for 2 more weeks til i was able to drive back to louisiana on my own. i had never had any gall bladder problems before, although i found out during my hospital stay that my dads family has a history of gall bladder problems. the doctor said most of my pain probably wasnt from the gall bladder itself, but from the pancreatitis and whatever was up with my liver (the enzymes were really high, whatever that means) but after the surgery, all the pain was gone. i was exhausted, and sore from the surgery, but nowhere near the pain i had been in.

having my first fill tomorrow- what to expect

all these georgia people... we were in augusta til last year  i got 2cc put in yesterday. it wasnt bad. my port flipped around i guess, so they had to manipulate it back which was weird... and uncomfortable, but not painful. lets see if it gives me some restriction. im down another 10lbs, which is good, but disappointing, because my scale at home had been wavering between 15 and 20 for the past couple fo days

    Serious question for embarrassing problem

i wonder if thats a side effect? i was visiting family 2 weeks after my surgery. i drove to san antonio from houston with my mom and my 18month old. my back pain got progressivly worse all day. i thought at first maybe it was from the band, since that was the longest id driven since the surgery (and i drove from louisiana to houston the day before) it ended up so bad that i couldnt even make it home from san antonio- we had to stop and get a hotel room. that was wednesday night. thursday morning i felt better, but by the night it was getting bad again. i woke up at like 430am friday in the worse pain of my life- worse than back labor even- and throwing up. i had my mom take me to the ER. after shooting me full of pain meds (major ones too) and testing me all day, they figured out it had nothing to do with the band, but it was acute pancreantitis and that was either causing or caused by gall bladder issues. they wanted to wait til the pancreantitis got better (which it didnt. i had a continuous narcotic drip, and they ended up giving me a pump for the meds too) to do surgery. i was NPO til tuesday. it was torture, i would have done anything for even a piece of ice. anyway, they did surgery on tuesday, and when i woke up, the back pain was gone. it was heaven... and i got to drink. the bad part was i then ended up having to stay in houston for 2 more weeks til i was able to drive back to louisiana on my own. i hope your gall bladder isnt the problem sorry for the thread jack, lol
  8. i was banded on 3/17, and im having my first fill tomorrow. my appointment was originally for a couple of weeks ago, but while out of town visiting family, i ended up in the hospital for a week and having my gall bladder removed, then i had to stick around for another couple of weeks til i was able to drive back home. anyway, i had had no problems with eating until this past week. i could only eat a little, and then i was stuffed, and last check according to my home scale i was down 20lbs or so. now im eating too much again, i guess the band has loosened from the weight loss or something. im not eating as much i was pre-surgery, but more than i should be, you know? so i guess this is a good time for the fill. i have no idea what to expect with this fill. does it hurt? what do you feel like afterwards? hows the eating? im so nervous, lol
  9. im only 9days post-op, but im trying to stay kind of high, because im nursing my son, and i dont want to put my supply at risk. i cant eat a whole lot, obviously, and i dont want to, but when i can im going to aim for 1200-1500 or so. right now im taking fenugreek to help keep my supply up (when i remember anyway, lol)

    When to start working out...

i dont have access to a gym right now, because i dont have childcare, but im a week post op, and plan to load my toddler into the stroller tomorrow for a walk around the neighborhood
  12. my doc says no drinking for 30 minutes before and after meals, since the liquid will help wash the food through easier, and you wont feel full. anyway, im 7days post op, and im already struggling with this. ive always drank tons with my meals. im the type of person that when we go out to eat, the waitress brings Water, and by the time she comes back to take the order i need a refill, lol. when i dont (pre band, im still on mostly liquid moving to mushy) it sometimes feels like the food gets stuck, especially breads. anyway, any tips or tricks to help me get over this? is a little water with my meal really that bad, provided i dont drink 3+ glasses like i used to?
  13. im 7 days post op and on mushies now... it feels great to chew again, lol
  14. hey guys.... i was banded on st patricks day... im doing pretty good, a little sore, but not bad. i had pain from the gas the day of, and yesterday, but i havent noticed any today. im on liquids of course, but today could add in yogurt and cream soups. i got really nervous about 2 weeks before the surgery, and actually considered calling and cancelling, but im glad i didnt.

    Pre-Op Diet

i had 5 days of liquids, but it was to clear out my intestine, not to lose weight, although it did that too, lol
