Not eating for a week after a fill?

i just had my first fill. my doc said finish the day on liquids, mushies the next, then back to normal
  2. i was banded on 3/17, and im having my first fill tomorrow. my appointment was originally for a couple of weeks ago, but while out of town visiting family, i ended up in the hospital for a week and having my gall bladder removed, then i had to stick around for another couple of weeks til i was able to drive back home. anyway, i had had no problems with eating until this past week. i could only eat a little, and then i was stuffed, and last check according to my home scale i was down 20lbs or so. now im eating too much again, i guess the band has loosened from the weight loss or something. im not eating as much i was pre-surgery, but more than i should be, you know? so i guess this is a good time for the fill. i have no idea what to expect with this fill. does it hurt? what do you feel like afterwards? hows the eating? im so nervous, lol
  3. i got my first fill of 2cc yesterday.

    Gall Blader Surgery

i just dealt with having mine out- heres an overview i posted in another thread i was visiting family 2 weeks after my surgery. i drove to san antonio from houston with my mom and my 18month old. my back pain got progressivly worse all day. i thought at first maybe it was from the band, since that was the longest id driven since the surgery (and i drove from louisiana to houston the day before) it ended up so bad that i couldnt even make it home from san antonio- we had to stop and get a hotel room. that was wednesday night. thursday morning i felt better, but by the night it was getting bad again. i woke up at like 430am friday in the worse pain of my life- worse than my 36hours of back labor even- and throwing up. i had my mom take me to the ER. after shooting me full of pain meds (major ones too) and testing me all day, they figured out it had nothing to do with the band, but it was acute pancreantitis and that was either causing or caused by gall bladder issues. they wanted to wait til the pancreantitis got better (which it didnt. i had a continuous narcotic drip, and they ended up giving me a pump for the meds too) to do surgery. i was NPO til tuesday. it was torture, i would have done anything for even a piece of ice. anyway, they did surgery on tuesday, and when i woke up, the back pain was gone. it was heaven... and i got to drink. the bad part was i then ended up having to stay in houston for 2 more weeks til i was able to drive back to louisiana on my own. i had never had any gall bladder problems before, although i found out during my hospital stay that my dads family has a history of gall bladder problems. the doctor said most of my pain probably wasnt from the gall bladder itself, but from the pancreatitis and whatever was up with my liver (the enzymes were really high, whatever that means) but after the surgery, all the pain was gone. i was exhausted, and sore from the surgery, but nowhere near the pain i had been in.

having my first fill tomorrow- what to expect

all these georgia people... we were in augusta til last year  i got 2cc put in yesterday. it wasnt bad. my port flipped around i guess, so they had to manipulate it back which was weird... and uncomfortable, but not painful. lets see if it gives me some restriction. im down another 10lbs, which is good, but disappointing, because my scale at home had been wavering between 15 and 20 for the past couple fo days

    Serious question for embarrassing problem

i wonder if thats a side effect? i was visiting family 2 weeks after my surgery. i drove to san antonio from houston with my mom and my 18month old. my back pain got progressivly worse all day. i thought at first maybe it was from the band, since that was the longest id driven since the surgery (and i drove from louisiana to houston the day before) it ended up so bad that i couldnt even make it home from san antonio- we had to stop and get a hotel room. that was wednesday night. thursday morning i felt better, but by the night it was getting bad again. i woke up at like 430am friday in the worse pain of my life- worse than back labor even- and throwing up. i had my mom take me to the ER. after shooting me full of pain meds (major ones too) and testing me all day, they figured out it had nothing to do with the band, but it was acute pancreantitis and that was either causing or caused by gall bladder issues. they wanted to wait til the pancreantitis got better (which it didnt. i had a continuous narcotic drip, and they ended up giving me a pump for the meds too) to do surgery. i was NPO til tuesday. it was torture, i would have done anything for even a piece of ice. anyway, they did surgery on tuesday, and when i woke up, the back pain was gone. it was heaven... and i got to drink. the bad part was i then ended up having to stay in houston for 2 more weeks til i was able to drive back to louisiana on my own. i hope your gall bladder isnt the problem sorry for the thread jack, lol
  7. im only 9days post-op, but im trying to stay kind of high, because im nursing my son, and i dont want to put my supply at risk. i cant eat a whole lot, obviously, and i dont want to, but when i can im going to aim for 1200-1500 or so. right now im taking fenugreek to help keep my supply up (when i remember anyway, lol)

    When to start working out...

oh and i had internal stitches, but steri strips on the outside. the only pain i really have any more is at the port site

    When to start working out...

i dont have access to a gym right now, because i dont have childcare, but im a week post op, and plan to load my toddler into the stroller tomorrow for a walk around the neighborhood
  10. my doc says no drinking for 30 minutes before and after meals, since the liquid will help wash the food through easier, and you wont feel full. anyway, im 7days post op, and im already struggling with this. ive always drank tons with my meals. im the type of person that when we go out to eat, the waitress brings Water, and by the time she comes back to take the order i need a refill, lol. when i dont (pre band, im still on mostly liquid moving to mushy) it sometimes feels like the food gets stuck, especially breads. anyway, any tips or tricks to help me get over this? is a little water with my meal really that bad, provided i dont drink 3+ glasses like i used to?
  11. im 7 days post op and on mushies now... it feels great to chew again, lol
  12. hey guys.... i was banded on st patricks day... im doing pretty good, a little sore, but not bad. i had pain from the gas the day of, and yesterday, but i havent noticed any today. im on liquids of course, but today could add in yogurt and cream soups. i got really nervous about 2 weeks before the surgery, and actually considered calling and cancelling, but im glad i didnt.

    Pre-Op Diet

i had 5 days of liquids, but it was to clear out my intestine, not to lose weight, although it did that too, lol

    March 17th Bandsters???

me too! i was sooooo nervous, but im doing ok now. a little sore, but thats to be expected. im sorer than i thought id be, and im glad my sister came down to help me take care of my 17 month old
  15. i was banded on the 17th too, and im feeling the same way. i had no issues with the Water or broth they gave me at the hospital, or any liquids since. i havent really felt hungry either. i figured it was because i was sore, and the fact that id been on liquids for 5 days before. i guess i'll see if i feel any different as more food is added in, instead of just liquids

    Cloth vs. Disposable Diapers

we use and love cloth. my son is 17 months and has only been in sposies a few times and i hate it. we use a mix of mostly prefolds and flats, with some fitteds (although we're using them more now since we're putting ds on the potty, and fitteds are easier for going coverless) and some pockets that are mostly for nighttime, and will ce for daycare when i go back to work in a couple of months
  17. im going to answer my own questions since i just had my 2 week pre-op appointment. i dont have to do only Clear liquids pre-op, just a 5 day liquid diet pre-op, the 2 weeks of liquids (starting clear and working up) post op. anyway, im going to pretty much be making smoothies using soy milk, frozen fruit, hemp protien powder, and im either going to get some veggie powder or add or put veggies into the smoothies too.

    Tricare Prime and Lap Band

i got the referral from a doc to see the surgeon, and had my first appointment in early december. they submitted the referral for the surgery and said call with the date i want. my surgery is scheduled for march 17th. it could have been earlier, but i need my sister to come help with the baby, so i had to schedule around her spring break. ive only actually seen the surgeon once, and then my 2week pre-op appointment is scheduled too. its been easy, but im nervous
  20. im new to the boards, but my surgery date is march 17 im soooo nervous my name is ashley, hi everyone!
  21. im bumping this back up. i found the board by googling for lapband and breastfeeding. im at the beginning of the process, and nursing my 15 month old. i do have 2 problems though, and yes, i'll discuss these when i go back to the doc  im at the lose weight to shrink your liver phase right now  anyway, my son is allergic to dairy, so we're both dairy free, and i cant to artificial sweeteners (aspartame, splenda, etc) they give me migrains and make me nauseus. any good options that can accomodate those 2 things?
  22. armywife2002

    hi!

my name is ashley, and im in the lapband process right now. im in the lose-weight-to-shrink-your-liver stage right now. im still nursing my 15month old, and thats how i found this board, looking for information on getting the surgery done while breastfeeding. i dont have a date set yet, my sister will be coming to help me with the baby, and she needs to confirm her spring break first. i look forward to hanging around and getting to know all of y'all :wink2:
  23. ok, im not to this point yet, im in the shrink-your-liver phase, but since my town has nothing, im planning ahead. i know you have to do a liquid diet pre and post op, and ive got some questions 1- what is usually recommended? like diet shakes or something? 2- im breastfeeding my 15 month old, so how will the requirements differ from someone who isnt? 3- i cant do artificial sweenters (aspertame, splenda, etc) they literally make me sick. what are some good options that dont have any of that stuff in them? 4- baby has a dairy allergy, so because im nursing, that makes me dairy free as well. any good dairy free stuff? thanks!!
