Yes, My CPAP machine can tell the difference from the mask pressure on my face or on the night stand. It's a flex machine that lets up the pressure when you exhale. It's my 3rd machine that I have used. I have not problems, cause I went from a job that required me to wear a mask all the time to despense injectable drug ingredients, I was a chemist before I got sick and on SSDI. Eartha Sue

My pre-op liquid starts Monday, Feb. 23rd. Wil be banded on March 5th. I, too, practiced alot. I have Syntrax's Nectar Sweets and UnJury's chicken soup. Both of them are very "yummy." These are both whey proteins I also have those 42 gr Protein bullets in fruit flavors. I have the natrual flavor soy protein that I can add to anytthing I eat or drink for protein. My doctor said no to SlimFast, Ensure, Boost, etc. Too much sugar in these. The Protein Bullets helps alot inbetween my meals. I am hoping I am ready for this. Eartha

My fear is NOT using the CPAP after I lose my weight and the apena is resolved. I have used this since 2000 and cannot sleep without it on. I have used several mask setups for over 8 years and found the ResMed Mirage Vista Standard Nasal Mask is the best fit for me. It has several adjustment settings and comes with a really neat fitting headgear. Eartha

I scheduled for March 5th also! Will get pre-op started on Jan. 23rd. 10 days of liquid diet, I have found 3 different protein shakes and liquid bullets that I like real well.

I'm new here too, but will say this: You need to ask or find out if DH doesn't want you to change? It may be that he is scared that once you lose all the weight that you will be a different yoy. This is possible, you get the weight off and start feeling and looking better, you find confidence and that can be scary for DH to deal with. He may not want you to change. Just my 2 cents. May or may not be so in his case. M

You will still have sleep apnea after surgery. It takes losing the weight to resolve you apnea. And, yes. you will need your CPAP until the weight is off and you decide to have another sleep study done to make sure it's resolved for you.

Hello all, I am new here. I have my consult on Jan. 14, 2009. I am 51 years old, female, 5'3" and weigh in at 270lbs. I had to jump through Medicare hoops for about 4 months, but I am now scheduled to talk to the doctor. I attended a workshop (required by Medicare). Got all my other doctors to send in their part of my medical history. I live in Kansas, USA. And Medicare patients are 6 months to a year on getting a surgery date, after the consult. Hey, pagans! I am pre-op with my consult on Jan. 14th. I am an elder in my coven, but have not been active for about 2 years. I do solidary stuff, but have gotten away from being in a group. It seemed that me and another coven member was doing all the prep and paying for everything that came up. So, I decided to back off and go it alone. But, it enjoy knowing that other pagans are here and are banded. I hope to get support from my fellow pagans and wiccans. Eartha :wink2:
