I agree. This is why I don't post much. It seemed that every time I posted and gave an opinion if I did not include "MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR" I would get slapped. I even thought about putting "MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR" in my signature so that I would not have to say it all the time. Oh by the way "MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR"

    Banded 5/26th - questions

I have posted this for others and it really got me through. Don't use the broth that comes in a can. Make some chicken soup and let some of the vegetables dissolve. Then strain it and sip on it. Be creative. I had my 17 year old son cut up some potatoes into very very small squares and boil it in chicken broth from a can until the potatoes get very soft some should melt. Again strain and sip. My husband and son boiled some flank steak they cut in small cubes. As soon as it came to a boil they changed the Water to get the brown foam that floats on top out (Rinse it to get it all out). Then add clean water, cilantro, green onion, onion, season (i.e. garlic power, Lawrys, salt) zucchini, carrots, celery, and peeled potato in this order. Boil for 2 to 4 hours and add water as needed. Once this is almost all cooked add cabbage and boil for another 1/2 hour or so. You want the cabbage to start to melt. Then add a bag of frozen corn. You want everything to boil until everything starts to melt. Use a mesh strainer to serve yourself and for the family have them add avocado and fresh lime juice to their bowl. If you plan on using it for you cream soups take your juice and veggies out before you add the corn because the corn does not blend well. At that point you can add a bit of smashed avocado to yours as well. If it gets too thick add some can broth to yours and enjoy. Oh, the broth will change the taste. The broth from this soup is the best!!!! It is much more filling than can broth. I was so satisfied that I felt like I was cheating. I would have 2 or 3 ounces every half hour or so. It would fill me up and I was satisfied. The canned broth on the other hand, I could only stomach so much of it because of the taste. Be creative. My husband also boiled some can broth with Pasta and potatoes. I drank the broth and it was great. My son and his friend eat the pasta, potatoes, and the broth and his friend said Campbells should be as good. Good luck and happy banding!!! It will get better.
  3. Its a big ordeal. In reality I think that many people feel more tired than normal for weeks or months. It took about 3+ months for me to start feeling back to normal and then suddenly I had even more energy than I had felt in years. Give it time and take those naps. It can only do your body good.

    ate something not approved

Wow...and you even found a way to put down teachers...very sad.
  5. I didn't feel so hot after either. And the weight gain is because of the IV. It took about a week and the scale really started to move down. If you are worried check with you doc. It might help you rest easier.

    Go much gas!

Try a heating pad. I did not think it would help but after a few bouts of gas I gave in and tried it and it made a very big difference. I hope you feel better and good luck!!!

  10. I was self pay in California, LA county. It was 15,000, out patient, and includes 1 year of fills.
  11. Yeah, I feel sort of caught in that catch 22 because I don't know what to do. And, this is my own head giving me the problems and not the doc. I have to decide by tomorrow...let's see what I choose.
  12. I think it sounds like a great idea. If you did one in So. Cal. during the summer I could be a vendor and sell my jewelry if the vendor cost was not too expensive.
  13. I was just wondering because I have read on some threads that when people lost weight from one fill to the next their doc wont give them a fill. I just had my first fill and lost the first few days a pound or two but an having trouble keeping it off. My doc gave me the option of going back this Tuesday if I didn't lose anything or going back in 4 weeks if I did lose weight. I am not sure if I should go back or not...I am getting hungry so maybe I will. Good luck with your situation.
  14. If you are loosing weight will your fill doctor still give you fills?

I don't have an answer for you but am interested in this thread because I have been getting dizzy the las 2 or 3 weeks too. I too get a lot of water so I don't think it is a lack of water. I look forward to seeing others responses.

Sorry...I guess I was not very clear. The poster asked what hospital they did their surgery at and I responded they do it at one of there centers. My intent was that they do not use a hospital but they do all their procedures at their centers/offices. I do not know if they do the lapband at any of their other facilities. I just was commenting that they do have an OR in Palmdale. They also do tummy tucks, face lifts, etc. They do all sorts of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. I had my lapband done in Beverly Hills too. I don't know what procedures they do at the Palmdale office. I just saw the map with 2 boxes that said OR and another that said recovery when I was getting my fill. I guess if I remember and I go back to that site again I might ask. I just thought it was interesting because I was under the impression that the only place they did surgery was in Beverly Hills.
  18. Fattyfatty2by4...I LOVE your name!!!! Birdbrainzz...I am glad it went so well for you!!!

They do their surgery at one of their facilities. The Beverly Hills site has an OR. I don't know how many of their sites have an OR but I saw the evacuation map at their Palmdale site and it shows 2 OR rooms.
  20. I got my first fill today and it went fine. No pain or anything. However, I forgot to ask how much he put in...Its going to drive me crazy...Maybe I will call tomorrow and ask.
  21. I just got my first fill today but yes, I am sure it does get better. Good luck and wow your weight loss is great!!

    anyone tried laser lipo?

Go to this link. I think I read the Dr talk about it. I can't remember much of what he said but I don't think he recommended it for weight loss patients. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f12/ask-dr-schulman-64543/

    How long till BM?

It took me 8 days post-op to go. Thats not to say that everyone should go so long but I knew that it would take me a while since for each of my 3 c-sections i did the same thing. If you don't go after a few days call your doc.
  24. I agree your doc should have given you pain meds. Call in the morning and tell them to call a script in to your local pharmacy ASAP. And just so you know, you are 4 days out and it will start to get better everyday.
  25. I hope I did not scare you. Its just important to follow your Dr. orders. Then you have no regret. Everyone is different and every doctor has different diets. On the Lap Band website (the manufacturer) they have their recommended diet. It is very conservative. You might want to see if your nutritionist and Dr have the same diet. Do they work together in the same office? I can't say much about what your diet should be but the topic of this thread is "Did anyone else start eating mushy food earlier than the 3rd week?" It implies that the diet this person is to follow should include mushy food starting in the 3rd week. As for me my diet was mushy food starting the 3rd week and I don't think I could have gotten mushy food down sooner than that. I don't know what else to say. I feel bad if I scared you...I wish you well and if you have concerns ask your doctor.
