    Anyone lose any rings?

I was at a restaurant with my kids the day before yesterday and as i was wiping my hands I felt a thud on the floor. I has no idea what it was but I checked my finger and my ring was missing. I looked down and there between my feet was my ring. I never felt it come off. It it had not been for the thud and the fact that it was a moment that my kids were being very quiet I would have lost my ring. I need to get a ring guard...and soon!

    actual sore stomache

Yes, its happened to me too...I chalk it up to being part of the process.
  4. It does something to your head...Its like once you decided to get the band your ready to go...nothing wrong with that. Just remember though that it might take you a few months after the surgery to get restriction after the initial swelling goes down. So don't let yourself get discouraged. Take advantage of being in the weight loosing zone as much as you can. Good luck to all of you on this new journey.

    Help

KartMan said it all!!! You are doing fine. Great in fact. Restriction is coming as soon as you get some fills and it will be even better.

    Port Revision?

There is someone on here that had a port revision and went from a standard port to a low profile port. Maybe if she is still around she can chime in. I do know that she was very happy she had it done and if I remember correctly it was no bid deal. Maybe some of the others that have been here for a while remember her and can point you in her direction.

    Had 1st Fill--Now need HELP

I thought I would loose hair after having 3 surgeries to get this right but I, as of yet, have not had any hair loss (knock on digital wood). Not everyone does. Dont worry about it unless it starts to happen. You never know if it will. Good luck. All will be fine.
  8. Its normal. You my not feel restriction for a few fills. You might feel restriction for a week or two after a fill and loose a few pounds but then gain some back waiting for your next fill. The last fill I had was the one but I also know that it may not last...so give it time. It is all part of the process.

    I feel like a failure.......

You know I have to agree with you. For a while there when I had no restriction and was gaining I used the dailyplate for about a week. I was eating much less than what the dailyplate said I should be eating. I started eating according to their recommended calories and after about 4 or 5 days I started to loose again. The other thing I noticed while I was using it is that somethings had far more calories than I thought they did. I, according to me, was running a mental tabulation of my calorie intake and found that sometimes I was way off. Even when I read the back of every package of food that went into me. Now I am not the poster child and have only lost 36 pounds but the bit that I gained and the last 6 pounds have come off almost by magic since my last fill. Yesterday we were out car shopping for my son and you know how long that takes. So we stopped at In-n-Out and I ate 3/4 of a cheeseburger and less than half the fries (It was about equal to what my 5 year-old ate and he weighs 32 pounds) and I felt like I ate half a cow. My lower tummy even hurt a bit. Point being, keep getting your fills and it will come. Being where I have been on this journey and being where I am now I know that this thing really does work. Don't give up yet:thumbup:

    Salad? yes or no?

I eat salad. I guess you wont know until you try. I would say just wait until you are cleared to eat solids and CHEW.

    I feel like a failure.......

It sounds to me like you are doing great and you have a healthy attitude. You also have found some of your limitations. I just don't think this poster should consider herself a failure. I think she just needs to figure out her special way to work her band. And I did gain some weight while i was having all my problems and waiting for restriction. At times I wondered if I made the right choice and the thought crossed my mind that I was failing. I started off measuring and as the time went on all it did was make me feel bad. Not to say that you are doing it wrong. Just that it took so long for me to get here that I started giving up because it got hard. I thought a lot about this post today and I have lost about 36 pounds since I first got the band 6 months ago. If I only lose another 36 pounds that is 72 pounds that I would have never lost. If this poster loses another 40 pounds thats a rather large child. I dont know what the posters starting BMI/weight was but my understanding is we still can lose weight the second and third year. So we all need to keep trucking along. Thanks for remembering me:wub:it makes me feel loved!!!

    Dizzy..x.x

For me it stopped by itself and has not come back.
  14. By chance I weighed myself 2 times yesterday. I went to the bathroom when I got up and weighed myself and then a few minutes later I had to go again because I felt the urge to have a BM. Anyway, I weighed exactly the same. Later in the day I read you post so this morning I decided to weigh before going to the bathroom and then after. Here are the results...I weighed almost 2 pounds less after I went to the bathroom. What can I say...I really had to go today...lol.

    Varicose Vein Question

Well thanks for the info. I dont think I will do anything about it but it would be nice if the one looked a bit better. I guess as long as it does not look worse.

    I feel like a failure.......

Do you need a slight fill? I like my docs philosophy. He says do not diet, do not calorie count, do not measure. He says eat what you want so your brain does not feel deprived. Let the fills get you to the point that you start loosing weight without you even trying. I guess I finally found that place with my last fill. This last week I have been taking my kids all over the place. We spent a day at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. I cant remember what I had for Breakfast but I know I ate a good one because we left later in the day. I know I also had 2 Protein drinks and for dinner Marie Callendars Ribs and Tri-tip. The next day went to Universal Studios and bought the all you can eat pass and shared food with my 5 year old. If you are going to be there for the entire day its cheeper than eating 2 meals and a snack. Had my 2 Protein shakes in the am, Panda Express and some ice cream for lunch, then pizza for dinner. The next day we left for Las Vegas for 2 night and 3 days and i eat things like Dennys, Buffet for dinner 2 times, McDonalds, etc. I had a taste of different deserts everyday. Anyway while there has been a lot of walking I ate what I wanted and lost about 3 pounds. I think that if you think of the band as a diet it can give a lot of feelings of failure. And if you are dieting and losing weight your doctor is not going to give you any fills. I thinking save the diet and structured exercise for the end of the weight loss journey when you cant get any tighter and you want to refine your weight loss. Right now I am swimming with my kids 2 to 4 times a week. I think if you put too many conditions and make the entire journey structured you give yourself to many ways to fail. Start by getting the band working for you and add the rest later. Look at my signature. I got the band 6 months ago but it was left in me until March unbuckled. So how do I figure out my average weight loss? If I start from January it is about 6 pounds a month. Now if I start from March...well I lost some weight before that... Anyway just my 2 cents. AND get yourself a fill!!!

    Varicose Vein Question

I am interested in this too. I have just a few mostly on the top of my feet and one bulge on the center of my shin. The bulge is the one that I would like to see go away. Sometimes it looks very bad and I like to wear shorts.

    Pain after a fill?

Well if it does not get better you may need to go get a bit out. I hated it the day I was over filled. Some times just half a cc can make a big difference. Call tomorrow and ask and in the mean time keep doing liquids. When I am swollen I add apple juice to my water and it helps to get calories and sugar in me.

    Pain after a fill?

I swell when I get a fill. I have been fine the day of the fill and then swollen shut the next day. Not even Water could go down. The swelling was so bad they had to take out more fill than was put in. Then it took about 2 weeks for the swelling to go down and for me to start to get hungry again. Then it took two fills and some weight gain to get restriction again. The only time it hurt was that next day because I was BPing all day long. Then I was sore for a while. I will tell you one thing, it should not hurt. How many ounces of liquid can you get in? I have been told that it can keep swelling. My doc said that you do not want to be too tight because it can irritate and swell over time. Are you going to Tijuana for your fills?

    Your opinion, please

I had my band closed I think the same day you got yours put in. I also have a 10cc band and if I had 7cc in it it would kill me. Right now I have 4cc and I am just learning how to work with it. I think I am a bit too tight since I really can only do liquids in the am but I can eat well in the pm. Right now i am loosing maybe a pound or so a week. And that is more than enough for me. Are you sure you dont have a 12cc band?

    Pouch Revision????

I would guess he meant port revision. Every time they go in there to do something or to fix something related to the band they call it revision surgery. If your port is flipped then it is call port revision. They do pouch revision on bypass patients. Maybe the doc was tired and it was a slip of the tongue. Or you were nervous and heard wrong. I do that all the time. I have not had port revision but have heard here that it is not too bad. Start a thread and ask if anyone has had one. I have read a few post from people that have. Good luck. You will do fine. And dont worry. It is common.
  22. Setting a timer to remember to drink also makes you get up and walk around to help move the air around if it is bothering you still.

    Pain after a fill?

If you are hurting I would say you are over filled. So let me bump this up so we can see what others have to say. What size band do you have? I am a firm believer in small fills but I have had a lot of swelling issues. Keep watching your urine and make sure it does not get too dark. I will check back later and bump this up again if you dont get any responses. Are you still hurting?
  24. Yeah, I cant do solids in the morning so I do a shake for breakfast, and mushies for lunch. Then I have solids for dinner. I dont want to keep doing shakes but I need the calories in the morning or I cant function.

    Pain after a fill?

I have not had this experience but I sure you will get a response here. Can you get liquids down? I would call the doc.
